Tip for the diff, get a fiber washer and shim it tighter. It will never break again, even with brushless power. Did it to mine and it will wheelie for days now. Also replaced the Driveshafts for hot racing steel cvd's.

Took my 1/18 Prerunner and converted it over to Bob. Put the brushless on it Traxxas ESC m3 and in 5 channel receiver. Put aluminum shocks on and turn them upside down, They just never break that way. Steel axles and aluminum body mounts, and added Teton tires. Runs like a beast, doesn't roll over, can do flips off of ramps. Run so much better than the prerunner stock. We wanted a Teton but couldn't get one so made Bob. Bob (bashing or breaking). Thanks for the video.

Very good video!! I have a fleet of 15 latrax models for my business and I have experienced all of those issues with the tetons and prerunners. These things are tough indeed and they seem to tolerate more abuse than my 1/10 scale traxxas models do. I love these things!! Thank you so much for the hacks!!

Did you have any tips for increasing longevity. I am building up a fleet of Prerunners for a kids program and want to make them bulletproof as possible. I am adding drywall tap and shoe goo to the underside to beef up the bodies, and I added high density foam between the body and bumpers so that the bodies flex less on crashes.

I always buy multiple of the differential gear sets. With brushless power they strip out frequently. Aluminum driveshafts are another thing I upgraded to match the power. Fun little cars!

Surprised you never mentioned how easy the front diff bulkhead breaks. The upper control arms mount to differential bulkhead with a very small amount of plastic, my son broke it within 5 min of getting it home. Replaced the bulkhead , drove it for 20 min and the front wheel hit something and snapped it again. Replaced it and got rid of truck

I have the teton and i have to say i only replaced driveshafts to all metal and it works like magic. And the way you drive them at the end, mine stock is faster than your brushless "hot-rod". Dont know if traxxas changed gears or better motor or what but the difference is huge.

Try ur lipo battery with the brushed engine.. you can put the esc into lipo battery mode by holding the power button down to change, green light for lipo red light for nimh. The esc can run two cell lipo Max with stock hardware, get a lot more speed and run time.. hit me up sometime and I can share a video or pics for ur channel of how I installed a velcro strap so I can run a variety of batteries sizes

Can’t say enough about traxxas and the LaTrax line.
Tip on the shocks if the do open. Get20 wt lite shock oil. Just a few drops work the air out by moving the shaft slowly before closing it up. Then the oem shock will have full damper resistants. Also upgraded ones. Be surprised there not filled half the time. Fiy and top tip you said. Dip the shocks oem. There stronger fliped.
I love them made for everyone. If you want a great low entry starter price rtr. Or if you like to mod you can go s far as your can possibly imagine. Oh and I did the teton is had every part released. To Hobbypark metal to the frame.
There made for you to make it you Small upgrades make it better
I wanted to set out to make a fully customized teton to the air brushed body. As a show piece and to show what a À beautiful peace it is today. (Remember for every enhancement to to make it faster or a part stronger. There needs balance on between upgrades and what not been. Enjoy the upgrades don’t push it past the limits of what not been.
I own 13 r/c car and trunk. From the 1/10th summit 1/16 summit, Ken blocks 16th rally. The teton and rally. Kyosho 18th rally. 2 Tamaya semi trucks. One fuel tanker and the other is a car transport, full functionality bed lift tilt and slide with winch to offload the small cars. It’s. And one tugboat started from a fiberglass mold. They are amazing the time in to the semi and tug yes the work on the three but what makes them priceless me and my father. Did them together.
I love all he tastes are not off road or street. We make À perfect team. I get the greatest my love for R/C. And every moment I can with my dad. I’m 57 my dad just turn 80. He À engager what he can do with my first real car Tamaya sand buggy. I got 43 year ago.
R/C is not a to, people don’t understand. Most think it’s a toy you buy for a child. That’s the introduction to what. Very big wold.
Just wanted to share a story. Of my love life love for R/C. More the love between a father and a daughter. Enjoying every minute together.
    To the next build 🤔🧐 !! XO-1 😊

I would argue they are not tough at all lol! We didn't go a full charge with something breaking on ours until all the plastic parts were swapped for metal parts. We even burnt through the OG motor. But replacing the parts made for good bonding with my son.

Thanks for the video! Im deciding wether I want to keep upgrading my teton or just sell it and get something else. I'm considering primarily an lc racing/tacon car (they're alot like the wltoys stuff, but brushless and way better plastics). I love upgrading the teton but all the high wear items are kinda getting to me, lol.

Get a rustler 4x4 or if you want a monster truck then the Maxx 4wd. Vxl really makes the most difference for both and i highly suggest getting it, if you can spend the money!
It's exactly what you're trying to do with youre little truck but reliable out of the box ready to go on a 2S 5000mah lipos. Very fast on 2S for the rustler. 40+ easy i dont have exact numbers for any of my cars and i have 6S buggys.
You dont need the 3S right away. Get a 2x 2S lipo pack off ebay of a good brand and get one 3S battery pack as well for when you want to go for speed instead..

I also have 2 and I’ve upgraded the plastic spur gears to metal due to they ended up shearing the gears and I also upgraded the plastic axles to aluminum because somehow the kids broke the axles… and I’ve replaced the motors on both and now having to do it again, third time the charm? My guess is overheating… looking into something to help with cooling…

As I said in the video, if you want to hotrod these Tetons, go on Amazon and order a brushless motor kit. You would also need to order some LiPo batteries, make sure to get the size that will fit. Warning: if you hotrod these cars, you should have a few spare parts hanging around, especially differentials. You can get differentials for about $12, they are available at larger hobby stores.

    • @timallix4407
      @timallix4407  ปีที่แล้ว

That all changed when I converted to brushless motors and LiPo batteries. Now it's about 20 minutes to recharge. The LiPo upgrade is almost mandatory for increasing fun factor. However the axles should also be upgraded as the extra power destroys the plastic axles.

3 hours to charge the nimh? Don't use the charger that the Teton came with, use your lipo charger and use the nimh setting and charge it in a fraction of that time. Also at the end of the video I believe the brushed version was in training mode during the burnout. If you switch off the training mode it will most definitely do a waaaaay better burnout and have much greater acceleration, thanks

I wanna get my niece one so she can play with me and my dad but I’d wanna run a high mah lipo (for more runtime, less charge time) and I heard a few people say the motor gets too hot on 2s? All with hardly any use, one thing after the other, not abusing it either just burning around on my drive way. Major pos for "hobby grade"
