    My son and his wife looked at both, She liked the Camry, he liked the Accord. They have 3 kids all in car seats, and the 3 car seats fit both cars. For both of them, the trunk space was what made them buy the Accord. I've been in both cars, and I can't see anybody going wrong with either one, if its what you want.

    • @mrvwbug4423
      @mrvwbug4423 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the end you can't really go wrong with either. In Colorado, the lack of AWD on both cars is a problem. That is why Subaru sells a ton of cars here even if the Legacy is an appliance compared to these two. Nissan adding an AWD option to the 2019 Altima is also a huge deal, especially with the Altima being #2 in sales nationally behind the Camry.

    • @PetesCreativeRecycling
      @PetesCreativeRecycling 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm betting Honda puts out an AWD Accord here soon. Their Acura TLX now comes in AWD and it's amazing, and it's basically the same car just with a nicer interior and better looks (That TLX A-Spec is so pretty!). Honda has had lots of AWD cars over the years... I'm certain it's coming. SH-AWD Accord would be a best seller.

    • @PetesCreativeRecycling
      @PetesCreativeRecycling 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      But it does help with tire wear and handling. And driving an AWD in the snow up hill is a lot easier than a FWD or RWD... so I'd say it does help. The extra weight makes it bad for stopping though.

    • @mrvwbug4423
      @mrvwbug4423 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually, AWD does help in the snow, especially when combined with good tires. People who say things like "AWD doesn't help in snow" don't live in places like Colorado.

    • @brandnewty
      @brandnewty 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't take my FWD thru a snowstorm in the Mountains, but I'd take a Subaru or SH-AWD vehicle. For the most part though, driving around here in the winter, FWD does the trick with the right tires.

    Having driven both cars back-to-back, I bought a 2018 Accord Touring the day they went on sale. The Camry is just missing way too much technology. No memory seats, no cooled seats, no Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, no over-the-air software updates...Toyota really porked it away big time with the Camry. Doesn't hurt that the Accord is less expensive, faster, and had a much more functional interior. Happy with my decision. I have yet to see any major car publications give the Camry a victory over the Accord in any comparison test. The Camry has always been a bit of a dud. This new one is the best yet, but Honda still outdid Toyota, yet again.

    • @bg693
      @bg693 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Matt Speer just like the Accord doesn't have a real audio system, 360 camera and a panoramic sunroof. The only options toyota needs is their CarPlay update and the memory seats which 2019 will likely add. I dont see how anyone can bare the audio system in the Accord.

    • @mattspeer01
      @mattspeer01 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Um...the audio system in the Accord Touring sounds significantly better than the joke "upgrade" JBL system in the higher end Camrys. Believe me, I tested that aspect out thoroughly as a good sound system is one of my primary concerns when buying a new vehicle. The one in the Camry was pretty bad. Very muddy sound.
      Who needs a 360 deg camera in a family sedan that has great visibility out of it? If offered on the Accord, would I take it? Yes. But that's not an essential feature. Memory/cooled seats are way more important to me.
      What makes you think Toyota will add memory seats in 2019? Typically major changes don't happen until the mid-cycle refresh, which won't happen until 2021 for the Camry. Even then, I can't see them adding memory seats. They "reserve" features like memory seats and cooled seats for the Avalon. Pretty dumb since most of the Camry's competitors offer that stuff now.

    • @bg693
      @bg693 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Matt Speer sorry bud but if you think the audio system in the touring accord is better than the JBL uiu have completely lost your mind. In fact hire just a flat out liar.... there are even TH-cam comments of owners that talk about how bad the Accord sound system is. There is know way you compared the two audio systems so you must work for Honda. The Accord doesn't even have name brand speakers and every other car brand has name brand speakers. Nice try...

      Wow, you really are ignorant about car sound systems if you think a name brand like JBL equals high quality sound, lol. You are probably a big fan of Bose systems, too. No I don't work for Honda. This is the first Honda I have owned since 2007 (was actually an Acura TSX). I have owned two Hyundais and one Genesis in the interim. I used to own a Camry in the early 2000s. I thoroughly test drove both the new Accord and new Camry twice, and the Accord was clearly superior. Why do you think it is that zero car magazines have given the Camry a win over the Accord in a comparison test? The best phrase comparing the two I've heard is: "Toyota built a better Camry. Honda built a better car." Pretty simple. But you are obviously a Toyota fan boy who can't handle someone sharing FACTS that paint the Camry in a negative light.

    • @TurboNFRStwoK
      @TurboNFRStwoK 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      If you don't count fleet sales the accord does sell more than the Camry. Also the main reason the Camry is still selling well and the accord isn't is because of dealer and lease incentives. If you take equally equipped camrys and accords the Camry can be leased for 219 a month with 1999 due at signing where the accord is 249 a month with 3999 due at signing. It's Toyota that's lowering the price to move cars, Honda isn't so sales are slowing. Honda has openly admitted this and says they are fine with it.

    • @cargueone1971
      @cargueone1971 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      TurboNFRStwoK / that's the excuse Honda has been using for years. In fact, since 1990, when someone out sells them.The Accord is an amazing car, and anyone that buys one will be getting a great car, but not a great deal in pricing. The Honda Dealership network has been complaining for months for incentives, the car is priced out of the Market. There's strong competition in that category. The Toyota Camry is an amazing car. The Dealership network is very happy with the car. There's customers are getting a good car for a great price. To downplay the Camry is a mistake. It's a great car.

    • @cargueone1971
      @cargueone1971 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      TurboNFRStwoK / again, those are called incentives. Second, Honda has lots of left over 2017's, especially in Los Angeles, the real reason that don't have specials on the new one, is because they gave away the 2017's, and still need to sell the left overs. You are reading Honda's press release. The fleet sales the Camry has to date is not as high as you think. The Camry can easily hold its own against the Accord, it's just they know what the going rate on what the free market will pay for one. Honda is selling tons of CRV's, and current market will pay full price on the CRV, not the Accord. Toyota recognizes that the mid size market is soft, but they don't want to give up on it. The have the RAV4 for what the market demands. They know that with the way things are, you can't get top dollar for a midsize sedan. Honda says they're fine with it, but not their dealerships. Don't read press releases, go out in the market. Talk to people in the field. Look up the trade magazines on line, ( not the meaningless advertising Road and track, Car and Driver), and you'll get a better understanding of the Automarket. Nissan's Altima is improved, and will be priced aggressively. Toyota is trying to get all the sales they can to get word of mouth, expose the car to enough people to have a successful 2019. If Honda doesn't change strategy, they are going to lose midsize sedan share next year. Mazda stepped up too. It's not just the Camry to worry about.

    • @KingOfEden12
      @KingOfEden12 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      10tenman10 wait that doesnt make sense. The higher the altitude, the denser the air, the denser the air, the less oxygen for the motor. So how does that have any effect on the accord vs the Camry. (I agree with the V6 being more reliable though)

    • @motorpolitan8884
      @motorpolitan8884 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because the turbocharger maintains the same performance as lower altitudes because it uses exhaust gases to operate. Whereas the Camry's naturally aspirated engine has to rely all on the air.

      wrong. The density of air decreases with height. There are two reasons: at higher altitudes, there is less air pushing down from above, and gravity is weaker farther from Earth's center. So at higher altitudes, air molecules can spread out more, and air density decreases

    Great work, you guys! I think this is the best TFL video in a while. Keep it up! Difficult choice. I like the 6-cylinder and the panoramic sunroof in the Camry. I like the Camry from every angle, but the front end kills it for me. I am actually surprised at how much I like the styling of the Accord, considering I normally don't like chrome and the personification of cars (i.e., unibrow). I also love the wheels on the Accord. And the interior of the Accord, with its simple lines, is a winner in my book. However, I don't like the button shifter. It seems gimmicky since it takes as much space as a traditional shifter would. Overall, though, I would pick the Accord.

The 2.0 is quick enough for any normal person. I'm 6'2" and sitting behind myself i still had about 4-6 inches of leg room and my head barely touched the roof. The trunk is HUGE! If you don't like the looks i get that, but the rest of the car is on point. These cars are both really nice, i have yet to drive the Toyota, but the inside of the Accord pretty much seals it for me. • @2006gtobob
      @2006gtobob 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      20.8 psi is not lightly turbocharged. 5-8 is light. Even if it's a closed deck 20.8psi is still high, and making 100,000 poses a real challenge. Let's face it, the average automobile purchaser has no idea what a turbo is and even less of an idea when it comes to maintenance. I would NOT want to purchase a used Accord 5 yrs down the road. That engine might be ready for the junkyard.
      Plus, at that boost level it isn't as powerful as the outgoing V-6 at sea level.
      The only real advantage the new Accord has in daily driving is in its interior. I admit it's quite nice and probably better than the Camry. At my age all I want in my daily driver is smooth, quiet competence with a bit of power. Hondas have never been particularly quiet or smooth but I've lived with them due to the spirited driving experience my old Hondas provided. It's the one real Achilles heel of daily driving any Honda. Having said that, I have muscle cars that provide all the excitement I need and I just want quiet competence, so, the Avalon is a strong possibility as my next daily driver.

    • @dakotalovespie
      @dakotalovespie 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Where did you get that the turbo is tuned to be 20.8? The max the turbo can go to is 20.8. It's a type R motor that has been tuned down.

    • @2006gtobob
      @2006gtobob 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 2.0 is 20.8, the Type R, with a larger turbo is rated at 23.2. Those are very easy number to look up. And no, they won't be running at that level all of the time. The Accord, however will probably see 14-18psi regularly and that puts a strain on everything, especially at a 9.8:1 compression ratio. As I mentioned earlier, I'd take a smooth, relatively relaxed large displacement V-6 than a turbo small displacement anything pulling a relatively heavy car around.

    In my opinion both Honda and Toyota make absolutely great vehicles but I would take the Camry with the engine that isn't boosted. I know Turbos add lots of power BUT I think normally aspirated engines will tend to last longer. I am sure Honda builds good turbo engines but turbo engines need to run at idle before shut down to help cool the bearings. In the video it does not say what the boost is for the Honda but we can assume about 10 psi of boost which is mild i guess but normally aspirated engines last longer. Also in the video you guys mention Ford Fusion...well thankfully Ford doesn't build cars anymore...Ford builds shit and good riddance. I would argue that Toyota and Honda may well be the two greatest auto makers on the planet. My god they beat the Americans and The Germans to hell. I tip my hat off to the Japanese...they have set the bar so high. BTW...I am a huge fan of Toyota.

    Love the fact that the Honda comes in a manual, but the V6 is a deal breaker for me, I think it's dumb that Honda dropped it, I don't care how good the four cylinder is, there's no replacement for displacement, and the V6 got just as good gas mileage as the 4 cylinder, it sucks that if I want a V6 now I have to get an Acura, which is even more expensive, Honda dropped the ball, thumbs up to Toyota for keeping the V6, plus if the consumer doesn't know, turbo's don't save gas th-cam.com/video/P8UNwd4OLXI/w-d-xo.html

    Haven’t driven the Accord yet, but I have driven a top of the line Camry XSE V6 and I must say, I was very impressed. Felt way smoother to drive than my Lexus IS. Also felt more premium, then again my IS is from 2014. I’ve sat in the new Accord several times and I must say I prefer the interior of the Accord over the Camry. Only thing I wished the Accord offered was a panoramic moonroof.

    You guys are Awesome! I love all your channels. When Nathan was doing the 0-60, I saw he didn't have the Accord in Sport mode during the test. When in Sport mode, it bumps up performance and displays the boost pressure on the tachometer. I believe it would have gone faster.

      Not buying it doesn't mean it's worse. If you prefer a manumatic meaning you want an auto, but still prefer to take control, Then Just go all out and buy the trans that gives you 100% control from the start, No need to go against a computer preemptively downshifting and not holding revs.
      I've drive a manual daily, in heavy traffic. With most japanese manufactures moving to featherlight clutches Its almost never tiring, and traffic is not an issue at all.

    I watched this video two weeks ago and have been wanting to leave a comment. Honda makes a great product. So does Toyota. You guys slipped up on information when you stated the test took place at a high altitude. That will always give the turbo an advantage. One thing I don't like about the Toyota produce is the lack of Apple/Druid Car Play. I don't understand why that is not standard on every car on the road. Back to performance. At the lower altitudes the v6 in the Camry would perform much better. At 2:45 seconds it is revealed you are over 1 mile high. Thats a huge disadvantage and I don't consider that a fair test.

  • @ALMIGHTYBUNGHOAL

    I personally ended up with the accord. I don’t know how the turbo engine will last, but it’s a lease car, not my problem. Once the lease is up I’m hoping for a Charger Scat Pack or Challenger Scat pack. But for now, the 4 cylinder helps offset the mileage of my truck especially with the terrible California gas prices.

      If you're getting a Fiat-Chrysler product, I would definitely lease it, that way you can enjoy the car, but get it out of your possession before things start breaking on it. Let that be someone else's headache. The Dodges may be fun cars, but they're not the best if you plan on keeping it for 10 years.

    I just bought the new accord touring 2.0T yesterday after tested driving the Nissan Maxima SR and the Toyota Camry. The accord gave me a feeling that I could not find in the camry or the maxima and that's the future. It's like sitting in a Tesla. The drive feels sportier than in the camry. I love the memory seat and the Apple Car Play. For the same price if not higher, the Camry's interior does not win me over. I got $5000 off MSRP and low APR financing compared to $2000 off MSRP from Toyota. Toyota is good for older people than the young one. It makes you feel like you're sleeping in your bed while driving. I do not care about the horspower and the speed because I'm going 65 miles on freeway and 40 in the city anyways. If I want to show off I can take my mustang GT out on the weekend. For a family sedan, gas saver is my top priority and the accord is the best choice. With 2.0L engine the turbo charged gives it enough power to hit that 60 spot in under 7 seconds.
