    As an owner of a 2015 Camry driving for Uber in NYC, I can tell you that the Toyota Camry is a beast in terms of reliability, outside of that, the Accord is better performing car and the quality of the interior
    Is much better than the Camry. I've driven over 165K miles on the camry with very few issues, and that's driving in the awful streets
    Of NYC. Toyota is the King of Reliability. But everything else goes in favor of Honda, specifically Performance.

    19 in 18 inch wheels is actually a big difference. With the 19 inch tires wear out faster and the ride suffers which causes your struts to take more impact from the bumps on the road. Dual climate control in the long run will cost more to fix than the single climate control when the warranty runs out. Also if you're looking to keep the car for the long run turbocharged engines don't last as long as naturally aspirated engines especially when it comes to a Toyota. I would love to see in the next 10 years the upkeep cost for the Toyota and the Accord and compare how much was spent to maintain and repair for each vehicle. And how much spent on fuel cost for the 10 years.

    • @DittyDafku
      @DittyDafku 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      10 years in the same city and same driver? It’s a really difficult comparison of such a longitudinal study. I want to know why you believe smaller wheels mean less wear and tear. I happen to think it’s the opposite. Smaller wheels really dig into the potholes and create much heavier bumps whereas the bigger wheels can cover the total area of the holes. Giving you a smoother ride and less damage to suspension/struts.

    • @tomfaz4193
      @tomfaz4193 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Those low profile tires represent form over function. They are useless in the snow and an average pothole here in the Northeast will blow the tire and damage the rim.
      Unfortunately this is the trend with the higher end models.

      The 2004 Accord was a better car and was built to last, the modern Accord is for the millinial crowd that likes to trade in every 3-4 years. The older Accords were for finicky people who wanted to keep their cars and drive them for 300-500k miles. I will have to see it to believe it on the modern accord. That being said the New Camry is one super high tech machine and if you do not follow the recommended maintenance they can be a real pain in the rear. Both are great cars. but this new Accord has to prove itself to me before I buy one. The Camry has the same engine its had for years, just updated technology added to it. I am a little concerned over the direct injection on my Camry. I have heard if you get some bad gas it can cause you to have to replace all 4 injectors and it is not as easy to change as regular injectors.

    I just bought myself and my wife 2 brand new camrys. I test drive the Honda first and even ignoring the long term reliability issues with the turbo engine and cvt transmission, you can never convince me that a cvt feels better. The Camry has a much simpler drivetrain and although you mentioned stuff the accord has that the Camry doesn’t, those are all options on the Camry and in my opinion well worth it. If the accord had a manual or conventional auto I probably would have chosen it as I like the appearance more.

    I prefer the design and reliability of the Camry over the Accord. I'll admit I'm bias towards Toyota (I've had a Lexus ES300 and currently have an '04 Camry), but I am apprehensive of Honda transmissions and have seen a number of them fail, especially in V6 engines (even if they don't have V6 engines available anymore). Their oil dilution problems in the past and CVT transmissions make me reluctant, especially when they have added a turbo charger to a 4 cylinder engine.

Regardless, both Toyota and Honda make quality cars relative to the auto industry, although as a whole I think quality control has gone down in general due to the amount of technology in cars, as well as stringent regulations for emissions and efficiency. Direct fuel injection, for example, has its tradeoffs. I'm not sure how much more efficient they can make the internal combustion at this point, modern engines are becoming more and more intricate and thus more challenging to work on.

      this is an outdated concept. most engines used to be modified after market with turbos. the engines themselves simply were not engineered to be used with turbos and suffered as a result. if honda engineers put a turbo on their engine, it's because it can handle it. they don't do it lightly.

Because it wasn't "engineered" to have or withstand one. But that's in total contrast with Honda's Turbocharged motors. Honda ENGINEERED them to have and withstand them. Another thing to note is that Honda does not manufactured their own turbos. The turbos that are put on Honda Accords are made by Mitsubishi. And Mitsubishi's turbo has the most reliability. I agree on all of this. I've test driven both several times over the past month- the Camry SE and Accord LX. I preferred the handling of Accord, though Camry absorbed the bumps a bit better and had less road noise but more wind noise than Accord. Camry's dash is so busy, with what looks like too many buttons.. some even unnecessary, where the Accord is more streamlined and simple and sensible, though the SE's stereo tops the base Accord LX, as it should being it costs 2.5k more. I couldn't get down with the 8-speed in the Camry.. the most non-smooth auto I've driven outside of my 2000 Accord V6. You want to downshift to accelerate? be prepared to wait longer than any kind of "turbo/CVT lag", and enjoy the rough jerk as the Camry has to downshift 2-3x to get to the desired gear. That tranny scared me much more than the potential long-term (+150k miles) reliability concerns of the 1.5L turbo. Camry and Accord have VERY different driving positions. I always thought I felt more comfortable in the Honda.. but after owning it for a week.. I couldn't be more disappointed and frankly pissed that I spent all this time and energy and stress into this decision.. and after 10-15 minutes, the Accord LX has THE WORST seat I've ever experienced.. EVER. The lumbar "support" presses against your lower back unlike any other car (and I've owned a 2015 LX and 2000 LX, and of course driven other cars without adjustable lumbar), but this is on another level. The seat lacks cushion for your rear, and has minimal thigh support. The result is ridiculous lower back pain, butt pain, tingly sensations in your leg and foot... and you just can't get comfortable. Really great. My girlfriend also can't sit in the passenger's seat for more than 15 minutes without discomfort. Awesome. Just what we wanted for driving anywhere to do anything. Now I have to invest a good chunk of change into seat covers and cushions for a brand new car. unreal. Such disappointment. depressing really.

    Would like to see, for a little bit more, a comparison of the Accord Sport SE and Camry XSE. XSE gets a leather interior, heated seats, dual climate and other things. I am looking to trade my 2013 Edge for one of these. I had a Camry 2011 SE and loved it but I have not had a Honda

    Howdy, awesome video as always! I prefer the Camry’s exterior and AWD availability, and I like the Accords interior, transmission (specifically the CVT) and engine better! I should and I preferred the Camry’s interior pre refresh!😸😻😸

    Both good cars, but for buying a car for reliability..I had to go with the Camry. Accord choosing to have a turbo and a CVT transmission is just asking for something expensive to break.

    Good comparison of the top two affordable mid-sized cars. I knew the Accord had advantages when I chose the 2019 Camry SE in this price range 4 years ago. Honestly I don't regret it since the Camry has been trouble free other than a recall on the fuel pump which was replaced for no charge while there for a normal maintenance/oil change - so really not an inconvenience other than a couple extra hours in the shop. Over the decades we've owned eight Toyotas that have been trouble free so it was hard to change brands.
    I do prefer the looks of the Camry SE, though the Accord is no slouch. I also wanted the normal 8-speed transmission over CVT and the NA 2.5L engine over Honda's turbo that has oil dilution issues. After 4 years I haven't damaged an 18" rim while I hear 19" wheels are much more damage prone. The cheaper Camry LE 17" wheels are even more robust but I think the SE's 18" wheel is a good looking compromise. A final intangible - it's fun to watch the Camry duel with Mustangs and Camaros on NASCAR racetracks! We're fortunate to have such great cars to choose from.

So it just depends on what you get with the car. Also, I've have the car for more then 6 months and remote start still works even though the dealer said its not supposed to even have it to begin with.

    Hardly feels like heated outside mirrors should be weighted the same as Blind Spot Monitoring. Also, why are 19 inch tires simply higher points than 18 inch? Is the size the measure of quality/performance? @CarConfections - out of curiosity, what were the 2200 of options on the Camry? At the the 30K price, I'm surprised it didn't have the Cold Weather Package to remedy the issue of heated mirrors/seats.
