This is the first time I’m ever hearing of this motorcycle, it’s kind of an odd bird, but I don’t hate it.

@@tgmotorider.narratinglifeo3480 Yeah I can see that. I don’t know for me I feel like it’s an odd cross Japanese/American Iron; it’s like a weird cross between a Honda Goldwing on the Japanese side and an Indian Challenger.

I wish Yamaha kept making these, I would have preferred this over the Gold Wing that I bought last year and regretted ever since..

I ride a GL1500, from what I have heard the 1800s have gotten more cramped for rider comfort and storage when it comes to bigger riders. I've been looking into these Yamaha's since I honestly hate the bridge and how most of the controls look and feel on the newest 1800s. What's your opinion?

Love my TC; if the Elder had come with reverse... I removed the 50 lb. trunk and built a small trailer for my longer journeys. You get more rear tire and way better G.O.G. I kept the heated backrest on the bike when I removed the trunk. The reverse is incredibly easy to use. A small, quick-detach, Cortech tailpack carries the stuff I usually kept in the trunk. I love that your key-fob indicator is blinking...don’t put it one of the locking boxes! Mine blinks if I leave it in the left glovebox - no lock there; generally, I keep it in a breast pocket. The Fob can play tricks on you... If you get the bike, check the starter, the brake switch and the cams...I’ve replaced all three under warranty. Some came with the drive belt overly tight and that hurt related bearings...worth a look. I noticed it within a couple days - no issues at 25k mile and counting. You’ll likely need to travel for a low milage, good deal, but it will be worth it. Some 2018’s were sold, “New” in ’19 or ’20, so there's still be some with factory warranty remaining. 5years/unlimited miles was standard; add-ons are available. Many love “Ivan’s Tune” for the extra HP, but you lose the engine braking and must use 93 (or 92?) octane. I find Sport Mode gets better mpg than the Tour Mode. My wife claims is the best seat we’ve ever owned, INCLUDING the last two generations of the GW.

It really made an impression on me and I ride A-LOT of bikes. The whole package. I loved riding it, my GW feels cramped in the leg department. But the Eluder was comfortable and sweet looking.

    • @GreenMtnHunter

@@honglin5143 The Venture. It has a couple other options, also not on the Eluder: a huge rear trunk; TPMS; heated passenger backrest; adjustable windscreen... You’ll need to find old articles/videos for good info; after dropping the line, STAR removed most of the Eluder/Venture content from their site. You’ll enjoy the bike for its ride, not the bling, and definitely NOT the Navigation. It was clunky and outdated when the bike hit the market.

@@GreenMtnHunter thx for the quick rely. I am a short rider only 5'6 and weight 160lbs I just thought the reverse would really help me push the bike around. I don't really care about the other accessories.

can't you open up some sort of vents on the fairings to cool your legs and the bike? and close them in the winter for more heat

how is the heat coming off of the exhaust pipes/engine?
I have had three Yamaha ventures since the 80s, between each Venture, I tried a BMW K 1200 LT,( never again), and a GL 1800 Goldwing(perfect motorcycle but boring and not overly roomy) but now I’m back on a royal star venture. I just haven’t found anything that I like better, but I tried.
this motorcycle and the Venture version of this bike are interesting. I went to my local Yamaha dealer to see the new Yamaha ventures when they came out in 2018. The dealer said the only way he will get one in, pre-order only.. I asked the dealer if someone has ordered one yet so I could at least see it? I stopped in several times in hopes of seeing one that was ordered, now here in 2024, that dealership has gone out of business…
I have not seen one of these motorcycles on the roads here in Western Pennsylvania yet, and it is six years since they have release the venture new model V twin. When I stopped in in 2018 inquiring about the Venture. I ended up buying a Goldwing because I was ready to buy now at that time..
I did test ride a Kawasaki voyager, 1700 cc twin last year used. I actually have a video of that test ride on my channel. The engine lifters were ticking so much, that I didn’t buy the bike. I found out later that that is not unusual or harmful… they have hydraulic lifters or valve lash adjusters as they are described. It just sounded like someone playing castanets, you can even hear the clatter in my test ride video on TH-cam. But I really liked that bike after thinking about it and researching and finding out that the ticking is not unusual… I ended up changing my mind about a week later, and I called the owner, but he never called me back, so I am assuming it was sold. it wasn’t very powerful for a 1700 cc the twin, the way that the Yamaha road star warrior was. A friend of mine had one of those and that had massive torque… A very pleasant engine on that Yamaha road star warrior, but I could not sit in that position with my feet way out front and hanging onto the handlebars, sitting on my tail bone..
so how is the heat coming off of this engine on this Yamaha eluder??
Heat is one thing I will not put up with.. I only had one motorcycle that was ridiculously hot. It was a 1980s Honda 700 saber. I could feel that heat from the engine/radiator coming through my Aero stitch suit on a cool day… I only kept that bike Long enough for one ride, after that ride, I put it on eBay and it’s sold almost immediately..
so how’s the heat? I read a TH-cam review of a rider that owned the new V twin, Venture, he said the heat coming off the exhaust pipe had him go to the hospital from heat blisters on the inside of his thigh from the exhaust pipe… To me, that’s a deal killer

I thought the heat was tolerable. Definitely not as bad as my ZX 14. I agree with you on the Goldwing not enough legroom on mine. Thank you for watching.

@@MohamedQureshi the Goldwing is liquid cooled and has a radiator. The Yamaha is air cooled. The Yamaha will be susceptible to overheating. I would roll with the Goldwing. You can put 300,000 miles on a Goldwing. I hope this helps ride safe.
