    Hi, love your review. I have the Venture Transcontinental. I got the 2.5 baffle pipes and Power commander from TAB Performance. I love them. I didn't know what a Power Commander was but, it was suggested. They do have a map for this engine specifically. Sounds great and folks can hear me now without it being too loud.

    I added the slash-cut 1.75" TAB Mufflers to my Eluder. Not obnoxiously loud so it's pissing off the neighbors at 0430, but a definite improvement to the stock muffler sound. The slash-cut really flows well with the lines of the rear end, IMO. I bought the base model though, had no need for the Sirius or Nav system. The Medium windshield I think should be the standard, but that's me... and I'd still like it a little taller for more face protection at highway speed. I prefer to wear a 1/2 helmet, but have a 3/4 for motovlogging. If you haven't already bought your passengers back rest, get the short one. The taller one looks ridiculous! Great overall review (minus the audio issues). I'm taking mine in next week for its 12000 mile oil service. The only reason I don't do my own is because I don't have a garage/carport or a level driveway. Keep it up man!

    Excellent review ! I have the same bike and don't like to read :) I had most of the stuff figured out, but didn't realize the right side compartment housing the USB/AUX cords was lockable because of the cheesy plasticness of it ..
    I am so in love with this bike .. put 554 miles in it in the first 2 days :) My only real issues are the same as yours .. plastic lids and latches .. and the gas access lid opening backwards ... wonky :)
    Although, mine gets super damn hot off that left side of the motor .. even with the vent open .. 90 degrees already here in Vegas, and the road heat combined with the motor .. sizzle .. even with full height cowboy boots. Not a deal breaker though .. this bike is so EFFING fun to ride .. feels like a combo between a Ducati and a Barka lounger.
    I am also still in break in mode .. 600mile oil change scheduled for tomorrow .. so I haven't hit the rev limiter yet .. but the thought of that is bumming me out now ... wondering if that can be tweaked with a programmer ?
    The white Indian Chieftan Darkhorse was a strong runner up to my purchasing the Eluder .. took two test rides on one, but out of the box, the Eluder is more comfortable to me and is a great cross between a sporty ride and a bagger ride .. Indian had a better fit/finish, but less storage, and not as comfortable with the way I like to lay back a bit. The Indian stock seat and bars made me feel like I was in a high chair .. and the Eluder, I can sit up or slouch back low .. like I'm cruisin down main street in my multi color Ford Pinto on a friday night :D The Eluder GT was also 8k+ less :)
    I have a '15 Bolt R Spec too ..I've bobbed it out and put an intake and straight pipe ... and LOVE LOVE LOVE it !
    I have a Power Commander for it .. must have to fix the fuel air mix with the removal of the O2 sensor and baffleless pipe .. sounds raunchy ! I've actually done more to it since this video .. made a rear fender etc.. but here that is .. th-cam.com/video/Pnwgt0o5YmM/w-d-xo.html so much fun as a bar hopper ! Husband has a Night Train and a '19 Road Glide .. which, is a sexy bike.. but I still prefer the Eluder .. and the $avings !
    .. and nobody knows what either of my bikes are until you tell them !

      Thank you for the kind words... i am currently at 3400 miles on mine and with the new exhaust and all the accessories ive added i cant say enough about the bike with a few of the minor details i found cheaply done... the new pipes i feel reduced some the heat on the left side but i only feel it if im sitting still for extended time.... im hoping to see if i can have my red line increased with a tune as well as overall performance

      I need some insight and I know this is going to be your personal opinion. I own a 06 GL1800. I love the bike, my wife loves it even more. I test rode one last Saturday. My biggest complaint is the power of the bike. I am a power junkie. Have been spoiled by my last bikes and I can’t go back. I had a 2014 BMW R1200 GSA (one of the best motorcycles I have ever owned), I had a 2015 Harley Ultra, Yamaha Raider, Yamaha Warrior, Yamaha Roadliner (currently own one now). All very powerful expect for the Harley, but she had great passing power. The Yamaha Star Venture Transcontinental (SVTC) that I tried failed to impress me… especially on the passing power. From 70mph to 80 felt slow. On the get go was fun, but that fun was suddenly interrupted by the very short red line... 4750 rpms!!!!! Are you kidding me? Im only 5’7” 170lbs…riding solo, no cargo. The infotainment was not user friendly either.
      I was really was trying so hard to like the bike, because I like BIG BIKES… and the new 2018 Honda Goldwing got shrunk … which I hate. I love the mean looks of the Yamaha. Is a really beautiful bike. The transmission is by far the smoothest I have ever experienced on any motorcycle on my 20 years of riding, specially for a big bike like this. But the fit and finish is subpar, how hard the saddlebags are to open, the cheap plastic, the lack of power…it doesn’t feel like a 24K motorcycle. Could you please share your experience? I am not here to bash the SVTC, I’m just a very picky rider who wants the best but I’m poor LOL. If I could afford a nicer bike, I would buy the new Indian Challenger. OMG…. What a nice bike. Anyways thanks

      I have owned a TC for 4 years now and really enjoy it. If it's a "dog" at 80 something is wrong with it! When I hit the sport button it flat out get down. The low RPMs keep that torque monster going down the road. It's a 1000 pound bike, it will never run like a sport bike.

    Thank you for doing this video. Your are correct in your observation regarding reviews on this bike.
    I am looking at replacing my '08 Goldwing. My girlfriend and I were involved an accident on 3/4/2020. lady heading eastbound on the westbound lane of the Schuylkill expressway at the King of Prussia/ Pa Turn Pike interchange. I'm sure you know it, we live in Lebanon Pa. Car v's Motorcycle = not good for motorcycle. We are blessed to be alive, we are both still recovering but will heal.
    Anywho... I don't want to go back into a Goldwing, and, although I like Harley (I have a Dyna in the garage) I can't justify the $. If you are looking for comfort, all the tech, AND the VTwin rumble, I feel that the Yamaha Venture delivers at a great price point. Since B & B are right down the road from me, I WILL be checking them out..... Just as soon as I'm able to walk again, which I will.
    Again, I thank you for this review.

      Sorry to hear about the accident man thats rough and hope the best for you two... check b&b, Yamaha of camp hill, and maybe the former lebabon valley cycle. Awesome first off welcome to the club... and the navigation i did myself i bought a 32gb flash drive which one of that size is not necessary but i did not have luck with the 8 or 16 gb for some reason, pnce i had that i downloaded the software on the computer that is labeled either in the manual or on the card, your computer will then identify it and you can plug in your access code... once that is done you then plug it into your bike and go the settings and activate that code and it should start working for you if you need more help on that let me know i can try and throw a video together...... as far as the large windshield, it makes an absolute difference i thought id switch back and forth for short and long distance and i find that i keep it onn 99% of the time

    Very informative review.👍🏻 Now that you've had the bike a while, I was wondering if you've experienced any of the valve train issues I've been reading about on the Yamaha forums? I've had my Transcontinental Venture for about 2k miles now and there's a lot of clattering going on in the top end when you put a load on it at take-off. I've also read that this engine is just inherently noisy in the valve train and that's something you just have to get used to.

      @@yamabeast5874 Just a follow-up. I rode my bike over to the Yamaha dealer (not the one I bought it from) to let them have a listen, but you really need to ride the bike to hear the top end tapping sound I'm talking about. Well, just as I expected, my Venture was the first one they'd ever even seen so they weren't much help.
      That's the thing with the Japanese brands, they usually sell multiple brands and they may not have ever seen an exclusive bike like the Venture/Eluder if they haven't sold any before. You walk into any Harley or Indian dealership and the service techs can tell you anything you want to know about their bikes off the top of their heads. The guys I spoke to today will have to look it up in a service manual just to change the oil.
      At any rate, they said to just ride the hell out of it and if it breaks, they'll fix it under warranty, and keep fixing it as long as it's under warranty. I didn't find that very comforting. I bought this bike to tour on so I need to trust it not to leave me stranded 500 miles from home. Well, time will tell I guess. I may just be imagining a potential problem, but I don't think so.

    Why did they drop the V4? Makes no sense to me.....they have the Vmax 17 motor, it is a perfect example of Yamaha's technical prowess. They could have had a home run.

    • @yamabeast5874
      @yamabeast5874  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unsure of why they chose to other than it produces more tourqe than the old venture in a better more reliable motor with less moving parts . As an owner with over 10k miles on this motor and 6 or so thousand on the older version of this motor i.e. the raider motor i believe its probably the best motor on the market. Do i wish this eluder pushed a little more? Absolutely but this bike has done its fair share of proving that the 2 cylinder v twin is an absolute monster

    • @aioesj
      @aioesj 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yamabeast5874 - there is no way that a V-Twin is "better more reliable motor" than Yamaha's V4. V-twin engine characteristics suit low speed crusing, and straight line acceleration (and throttle blipping). When you are exiting a sweeper and you start accelerating you want linear power to help stand the bike up, not peak torque! The V-twin is all about the sound and the rumble, it is an inferior motorcycle motor for everything but slow speed slalom courses. I wish Yamaha would listen to thier loyal followers and not try to ripoff Harley Davidson. If we wanted an ancient technology motor with a 45lb crankshaft we would buy a Harley. Sales data shows that the Venture missed the mark, time to go back to the V4.
