  • Now for something a little different here at Cycle News. Today we're testing the brand new Yamaha Star Eluder, the bagger version of Yamaha's grand tourer, the Star Venture.
    We had this bike for a day around the hills of San Diego with some staff from Yamaha Motor USA and it's quite a compelling bike.
    This machine is up against bikes like the Honda F6B and BMW K 1600 GT. How does it go? Check the video to find out.
    Check out the full test right here:

    Here in May 2020. Dealers are selling 18 GT models for $15200. A great time to be a motorcycle buyer !

    These companies are paying close attention to the costum harley bagger market. It pains me to say that this bike looks bad ass.

    It looks like the "Lake" has shrunk even more since I left 14 years ago. Some of the best riding I ever had was in Socal.

    Touch sensitive screen useable with gloves? That is something the 2018 CVO FLHTK doesn't do, and that was $50,000.

    Thanks for the review! I think this bike should be badged Stratoliner Ultra... It's not a V-4 it's an 1854ci V-Twin like the Strat...

    It's been many years since I rode to Henshaw. It looks kind of dried up. Still nice riding around there, jullian, alpine.

    Heated grips and seats standard. Adjustable screen on Indian Chieftain Dark horse. Very surprised the engine is air-cooled with emission laws being the way they are the US. Will this bike to Australia? I'm 5'8 - too short. Headlight set up is impressive.

    Geez... In the off postion you click it down. It powers on and you turn it to run. There is nothing wrong with th the switch you just don't know how to use it.

    YAMAHA is an awesome motorcycle company! I do like the new Venture except for the v twin air cooled engine , and the weight 958 lbs ! I was disappointed that they used the v-twin, i was hoping they would have used the 1700 VMAX motor!

    I would think before doing a review one would learn how to turn it on. First time you can have trouble but it is easy. You just hold button down for one second and then turn it on. Very simple and this review is misleading.

    The fact that the new Goldwing is about 200 pounds lighter than this air cooled V twin makes me wonder why this is. With 2 adult passengers, you are left with a meager luggage weight allowance- which for a long distance tourer bike is an unfortunate limitation. Think about it: fully loaded with 2 passengers and gear you arrive at 3/4 ton.

    • @jimberger7362
      @jimberger7362 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      northerniltree the GW is lighter which is a good thing but i am disappointed in the size of the bags and the trunk also the the small gas tank.

  • @VetteguyC6
    @VetteguyC6 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    It has everything but looks. If you are going to have a air cooled V-twin engine let's see it. The cowlings and air filter cover it all up and make it look like a wantabe sport bike.

    For the same price you get a rather basic Harley road king touring bike, so be happy. I love my Harley but they are very expensive.

    $23,000 and it's air-cooled? NEXT!

  • @JohnnyRebKy
    @JohnnyRebKy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    If I wanted air cooled I would buy a Harley. It having liquid cooling is a big turn off when buying a Japanese motocycle. Most people buy metrics so they don't have to worry about a hot engine in traffic. I've owned 2 Harley's for 17 years and you gotta avoid traffic on a hot day. They will cook and get hot after awhile. So will a Yamaha air cooled is air cooled , there's nothing magical about it because it's a Yamaha and not a Harley. Cools the same way and gets hot the same way. So I had to go with Kawasaki to get a big twin cruiser that won't get hot

    Maybe they should get someone who doesn't lack dexterity and intelligence to do the review. It would be so much more informative. And maybe consider someone who actually knows something about the bike. Just a suggestion.
