  • Here is a simple guide that should be able to help you with some of the most common basic procedures for diagnosing your Air Conditioner and heater that is no longer blowing air.
    These steps can be taken in different orders to help determine what your issue may be. The specific steps in this video are not always the exact same for every vehicle but the process of elimination is very similar in all cases.

    Idid it! My blower didn't come with a gasket, and the old one didn't have one. I tried to wiggle the resistor in. Ended up bending the posts connecting the resistors. I had to cut the plastic like you did. The bottom of the slot was warped, so I cut some foam off the old resistor. I think it cost about $138.

    I'm trying to fix this for my 2003 Express. The blower is still not working. What's confusing me is that I have 12 volts from the resistor connector, but zero voltage out of the blower connector when it's all assembled even though I have a new resistor. I performed this test with the old resistor in place and had the same results.This is why I replaced it.
    When I check the resistor connector, I place the multi meter prongs in the orange wire and black wire and have 12.7 volts. I figured that I should be using the prongs on the red and black wire to get a reading, but it does not get a reading. What am I doing wrong ?

      Have you by chance been able to force the blower motor in the running position? Does tapping on the blower motor itself cause the motor to slightly turn on? I’m pretty sure that the blower motors on these vehicles have a separate fuse.

    Hey, I have a 2010 GMC Savannah School bus. Same issue as you, I can hear it changing with the settings dial but nothing is coming out. I tested the two terminals on the resistor like you did and it was reading 0.07 on 20v setting. This was with the key turned and heat dial on. My question is, how do you know it’s not the wiring harness that’s bad? Nothing looks burnt on the terminals but when I put the multimeter in the harness nothing is reading (not sure if that’s how you test it though)

    • @TweekerDan1984
      @TweekerDan1984  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Zach Teschendorf thank you for reaching out, have any of the fuses blown in the circuit? Also have you tested the power going to the blower motor as well? When testing the voltage definitely try multiple different grounded locations to get the most accurate reading.

    • @ztesch12
      @ztesch12 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TweekerDan1984 Let me correct myself, the reading was .82 when test the power from the resistor. Do you know exactly what fuses and relays go to the blower? All I saw in the fuse box was a front blower 40a Jcase fuse which was actually blown. I replaced and still nothing.

    • @TweekerDan1984
      @TweekerDan1984  ปีที่แล้ว

      After searching I couldn’t find a relay in any of the diagrams. It does look like there may be additional HVAC fuses that you could test as your vehicle may have two fuse panels. Do you know if you have 12v at the blower motor power inlet harness? That would help narrow it down. The resistors are know to fail without signs of damage.

  • @DelEast740
    @DelEast740 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mine is not the fuse, it's not the resistor, and it's not the blower everything is brand new what else could it be? Debating on grabbing power off the controls and wiring each fan setting to a switch through some dry contacts and some relays. The only way a residential HVAC technician would want to repair it

    • @TweekerDan1984
      @TweekerDan1984  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you tested the dash switch? If so, do you have 12 volts coming into the switch? Sometimes the switch itself will fail. If you have power to the switch I would move through to test other components. I would also be sure to check for good grounds as they are most commonly overlooked. There is always the possibility of new parts failing quickly or even right out of the box.

      @LiveFreeOrDie2A 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m sure you’ve solved your problem by now.. but FYI for anyone else experiencing this problem- it IS caused by the resistor. Specifically, the internal relay is stuck in the “HIGH” position which draws off 30amp fuse and is hot at all times; it is not controlled by ignition switch like the 25amp fuse. You can find more detailed explanation at 3:50 of this video..

      Are all of the positions working when using the knob for the blower speed? If everything is functioning properly and your confident that all of the tubes and wiring correct then you may want to start looking toward the coolant system. First thing I would check here is to see if your coolant is completely full. Not just in the reservoir, but also by removing the radiator cap with the vehicles cold and making sure the coolant is filled all the way up to the top of the radiator.
