    Another tip is to pour some gas into the oil container or mixing cup after you have dumped it in the just in order to get all the oil out

    I've been mixing 2 stroke gas since 1980. It kind of helps if the bike's gas tank comes with a measuring cup built into the gas tank cap, like some manufacturers did back in the good old days. It makes life so much easier.
    These old tank caps do appear at motorcycle swap meets so are worth buying as they'll have the ratio versus volume of fuel marked on them.

    Little trick, we do this for our boat, lawn equipment , and bikes... buy the oil like he does once, then just refill that little whatchamacall it, the container with whatever oil you like, and you don’t have to worry about measuring.

    Not sure if this has been brought up yet but it's always good to put a little bit of gas in the can and then pour your premix oil in. This will help insure that the oil mixes quickly\ with the gas thats going to be added to the right level.

    Rotate the VP 5 gallon can so the spout is near the top. It can then vent and pour faster and smoothly and not ugga- chugga the fuel all over the place. At $130 ish for a 5 gallon can of MR12 these things matter. :)

    More oil equals less wear and more power due to better ring sealing .What are you trying to accomplish running such high ratios besides premature wear. Do you think Amsoil has magic oil that no one else is able to match.The oil injection on the new tpi bikes mixes at about 80:1 look how thats worked out .

  • @yosoymarcel
    @yosoymarcel 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If somehow the math is to complicated. Just “forget about the oil” and divide the amount of fuel your going to prepare by the fuel amount of the mixture.
    So, if your preparing 8 liters of 30 to 1
    8/30 = 0.266 liters of oil.
    Or buy a Beta ...

    • @mikeries8549

      A US gas station sells gallons.
      That's why you have to be somewhat intelligent to calculate how much oil to add.
      Helps to do two gallons at a time for 50:1. Five ounces does two us gallons.
      Feeling me?

  • @jay36963
    @jay36963 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Petrol 50:1 oil... Mix in jug. Put in tank. To much smoke or the spark plug goes black, then you've added to much oil.

      cadwarrior It’s hard not to go wrong with 50:1 in any 2 stroke. I have ran Motul 710 in my KTM 200 for years without issue. I have ran Motul 800 before and it does seem more for high power motocross application. I ride single track woods and did notice more spooge than normal out the pipe with the 800. Like it did not burn off at lower rpm. Save money and go with 710 and 50:1 will be fine.

    How do you keep it from stinking ?
    I mixed some for a chain saw and when hauling in my van it stunk up the interior big time .
    I was wondering if hauling around dirt bikes in the back of a van smells it up?
    Thanks

    I think 8 oz to 5 gallons is a little lean in my opinion 🤷 80:1 don't sound to safe 😬

    Hey Kyle - Question for ya! I am pretty paranoid about always running fresh gas in my 300. Ill mix whats only really necessary for a ride (1-3 gallons) to make sure I'm always running the freshest gas possible through my bike. I'd prefer to not worry about it however and mix 5 gallons at a time to just have it on hand. How long is it okay to have gas sit before it starts to break down? Do you ever worry about this or follow this philosophy? Thanks!! Chad

      I wouldn't keep 2 stroke gas that is already mixed for more than 4-5 months at a time. Maybe more if it is in a conditioned space and has a stabilizing product added to the mix.

      Stick to ur 40:1 dont do anything crazy like this maybe if you want a bit more pep 50:1 but the less oil the less lubrication

  • @bradmetcalf7832
    @bradmetcalf7832 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Most folks with any common sense put a gallon or two of fuel in the can before the oil, then shake the piss outta it. Then finish adding fuel. You left all your oil in bottom of tank and now you will have to shake a full 5 gl to get it mixed. And Joe N is also correct.

    All anyone needs to know about mixing gas is there is 128 oz of gas in a gallon. Has our general education system become so bad that people can't figure a basic mix ratio based on that number. Everyone has a calculator on there phone. Maybe it's the millennials that just need reassurance. As for the oil. Run what you want. Most people don't keep a bike long enough to know what the effects of running a certain oil are going to be. Kyle doesn't know! He ain't going to keep a bike 400 hours and do a full teardown and inspection himself. He's just speculating based on guys comments on KTMTalk and the recommendation of Jeff Slavens. LOL!! Even Kelsey Manning of RK Tek recommends the complete opposite of Kyle. Mineral Oil!!!! These oil videos make my head want to explode!!!

    Does running race fuel really increase the performance? Riding a 250f right now and am trying to squeeze everything I can out of it but just need that little bit extra.

    • @5AXISDLOCKHART
      @5AXISDLOCKHART 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Short answer is yes. In the vid, he is using T4 which I would not classify as a race gas. Call it a really consistent non ethanol pump. There are various race gas formulations that do make more power. My Triumph 675 road racing bike, makes low 120rwhp on non ethanol pump. With MR12 and with the MR12 mapping it makes 131-132 rwhp, which is pretty common for those bikes in that state of tune. 5 gallons gets me a practice (15 min-ish) and two sprint races 8 laps each, or about 40 miles total with maybe a little less than a gallon left over.
      vpracingfuels.com/master-fuel-table/
      with a 250 F I'd look at U4 or one of the MR fuels. Pro 6 or MR12 if its legal for your race org.
