Not just that, they also buff the rudder a bit. The result of the rudder buff on Ki-100/61 is great! I doesn't noticed it at first but when I dogfight with it I can feel it's more maneuverable.
I have been flying the Chinese ki-61 for quite some time now, and I can confidently say that it is my favorite plane ever. The guns (with air targets rounds) are extremely powerful. 1 well aimed 1 second burst is all you need. I believe that in about 70 proper dogfights I have had in it, I have lost less than 6. Additionally, I find it turns all right at high speeds, and I can easily make the enemy overshoot. Nice vid as well.
My favorite plane(s). The zeros and raidens are good and all, but the Ki-61s have all been really been good planes. All the Ki planes are good really, like the Ki-100s too.
I love the Ki-84s. You get parts of both worlds, making it a very versatile fighter. I just wish the BR was a little lower, especially the Ki-84 hei at 7.3/7.7 in arcade and 6.3 for realistic.
I'm so happy that you finally featured one of the planes I love to fly with, the Ki61-ko has good speed, good manuverability and decent climb, has good guns with only short ammo for the cannons

Talking about Japanese plane designs I find the Ki-43 III ko(The one on Chinese tech tree) interesting. It has that good 50cal and the performance of a III otsu, but it fights at a much lower BR. It’s very interesting to fly and most enemies underestimate you as a typical 43-II.
It was extremely good at 3.0. I got like 90% WR with the plane. It just has everything, decent climb, speed and good turn, all with 12.7mm MGs on the nose. Overall it just compliments well with the standard Japanese turnfighters. Haven't tried how it fares at 3.3 now though.

that 1v1 matchup video idea is nice, been messing with 1v1 scenarios in different planes in customs, and hint hint-> the tempest vickers clip i submitted vs the f4u-1D, if he had flaps im sure the maneuvers i made would have got me killed, because im still not sure what maneuvers to make in those scenarios *there must have been some that would have granted me much better setups? however the playing field became pretty damn even because i rekt his flap. i was still too smooth brained to pull a win out tho. Thanks for the content, and a lot of help upping my game!
The instant Gun tax for them getting fixed was hilarious. The br patch after the fix immediately saw the Ki-61-I otsu instantly going from 2.3 to 3.0 and now its 3.7 with the Ko sitting at 3.3/3.0 now.
Yeah to be honest Japan just fits the short match clusterfuck meta so well in the game and has a lot of dedicated lowtier players, so I'm not surprised by the BR increases. I find Japan incredibly easy to play, perhaps this will make it more challenging xD

Would love to see an updated J6K review. Since your first video still showed the placeholder FM and on the 2.20 dev server the prop diameter was actually fixed, giving it a considerable climb and low speed thrust buff (7-10% prop effieciency gain!)
As a player with that has used this plane for grinding out a significant part of the Japanese tree, I don’t entirely agree about the 4.7 ki-61. Yes most stuff outspeeds you in a straight line and the climb rate is dogshit, but so much of the usual players you face dive at the first plane they see that they immediately run headfirst into their weakest position against you; below you somewhat under speed and near too many enemies to just extend away. Means you can dive and force a turn fight at speed easily where the 151’s also come in handy. Add on that head-ons are still somewhat common at this br means that the minengeshoss is suddenly extremely valuable. If the enemy knows what they’re doing then yes it’s painful but it just takes some patience before the commit to a turn too hard and can’t extend away fast enough to dodge your reverse. All in all in the 4.7 both get a solid amount of advantageous fights that don’t take much effort and disadvantaged fights that you can turn around with baiting and timing
Have you thought about doing a quick video about how you deal with acm and what you are using in regards to keyboard presses and using the mouse to look at the same time (what you are pressing when you are in a spiral climb etc), you make it look so easy and of course it comes with practice, similar to your video about fighting in jets with the keyboard layout, would like to see one with props.
Yes this is very much the best Tony of all the Tony's (Tonies?). The Interceptor Ki-61 is just too slow climbing and heavy and the mg151 Ki-61 is outclassed at its br by stuff like the P-38 L, La-7, yak 9U e.t.c
I've recently been playing the yak 3 at 4.3, it's very good but the middle map AA is so bs that nearly all of my deaths have been to it, I've been engine sniped at 3k by it. Have they buffed it?
Recentely reached 9.0 jets, first game I did I saw a friendly F86 burst into flames while flying at 3000m ish by mid map AA. I was told AA was weaker against jets than props due to speed.

I've actually been enjoying the Japanese dual prop interceptors like the Ki-108 and J5N1. I'm not sure if it's a case of good guns and bad enemies, but it'd be interesting to see your take on them.
Me too, and I know it's a premium but the Ki-96 is absolutely savage at the moment, intercepter spawn plus a ridiculously good climb rate and good energy retention.
The Japanese 30mm's with tracer belts do almost over 59.9 grams of explosive damage combine that with the 20mm's and kiss enemy heads good bye. I would say retains energy pretty well but I couldn't say this for everyone.

today marks the third time I was interrupted in a cool dogfight at ~km altitude by the middle map AAA. It has become unbearable. Attack aircraft aren't viable anymore. I really hope they do something at some point because the game mode is just becoming unplayable
People that run to the airfield and re-engage you only when they have all the advantages are one of the most dickest and infuriating things in this game, once I tried to engage a spitfire in the ki-44 and he went to the airfield and he didn't engaged me until he had a massive altitude advantage because I went to kill a P-40, he started to catch me and I crashed to deny him the kill just for pure spite.

Used all of them, including the Ki-61 hei at 4.7. On paper, they all suck but ingame they all seem to perform quite well, especially considering you mostly fight braindead P-51's that try to turnfight you every. single. time. The best one in my opinion is the Ki-61 tei at 4.3. It gets an air spawn because it's classed as an interceptor for some reason and the 20mm's in the nose are extremely nice. Also Fw 190's are piss easy to deal with. P-51's are basically free kills if the person flying it doesn't know what they're doing. The Fw-190 is a free kill regardless of what it's doing. They're too easy to evade and once you get around them, they are dead. No amount of rolling will save them.
Talking about 109 - how about you'll try 109 F-2? It's kinda forgotten (and I can understand why - that MG151/15 isn't the best) but it's fairly agile and fast plus it has funky RZ 65 rockets that are great against bombers (and fighters if you can aim them well)

Negative g manovers in this plane works very well, it is somewhat easy to make people over shot you. but turn fighter? no man, this is not a turn fighter, it is much more than that. You want to start with more energy than your enemy, and stal him. Flaps on this thing are weak (they work fine, but rip speed is very low), so realy turn fight is your secondary fight option if you failed energy fight/vertical, or you had them on your tail and made them overshot. Jack of all trades, master of none. You will have as much advantage over adversary, as much you were smart to gain. I actually like this plane now, it is pure skill benchmark, you don't have edge anywhere, and you don't suck anywhere. My problems with this plane in past were result that i lacked soul. I just flew planes like there were meant to be flown and since this thing don't have a "manual how to win" i had to finally create my own style, own methods, own tactics. I do recommend it. You will suck at first, you will have to get used to it, you will have to find "your way". When you find it, it will feel like your personal plane. Plane that You gived a soul. Plane that was made for You. My personal fav is Ki-100. Japanese inline engines are weak, but ki-100 features radial engine, maybe top speed is lower since you generate more drag, but you have more power and no cooling problems. Your climb is also better since you have more HP. And 2x20 ho-5 in nose with 500 rounds do the job. Edit: Also, Ki-100 don't have problem with engine over revving when you go 700+ like Ki-61 does. (I fly with MEC)

They massively improved the performance of the Japanese light and heavy MG's some time ago, gave the early Ki-61's a new lease on life.
Not just that, they also buff the rudder a bit.

with the current BR the Otsu is much better. With these .50s it's better than 20mm guns

Flaps on this thing are weak (they work fine, but rip speed is very low), so realy turn fight is your secondary fight option if you failed energy fight/vertical, or you had them on your tail and made them overshot. Jack of all trades, master of none.
You will have as much advantage over adversary, as much you were smart to gain.
I actually like this plane now, it is pure skill benchmark, you don't have edge anywhere, and you don't suck anywhere.
My problems with this plane in past were result that i lacked soul. I just flew planes like there were meant to be flown and since this thing don't have a "manual how to win" i had to finally create my own style, own methods, own tactics. I do recommend it. You will suck at first, you will have to get used to it, you will have to find "your way". When you find it, it will feel like your personal plane.

My personal fav is Ki-100. Japanese inline engines are weak, but ki-100 features radial engine, maybe top speed is lower since you generate more drag, but you have more power and no cooling problems. Your climb is also better since you have more HP. And 2x20 ho-5 in nose with 500 rounds do the job.
Edit: Also, Ki-100 don't have problem with engine over revving when you go 700+ like Ki-61 does. (I fly with MEC)
What do you think of bf 109 Z, two messershmits duck taped together with 4 30mm. Can you take it out if you have it?
