This is so refreshing to not hear someone screaming out of the gate! And her notes are so controlled, which is how she does those staccato slides. So classy! This is one reaction I won’t soon forget!!!!
Morgan James has that thing called "TALENT". Yet this is a performance that stuns me. Beautiful. Sublime. Play this on a big screen at the mall...the crowd will stop moving.

This is the genius of Scott Bradlee and his invention called Postmodern Jukebox. He takes current and classic songs and rewrites them in specific styles. He has a core of fabulous musicians then adds an ever-changing list of guest vocalists - like Morgan James. Morgan was classically trained at Juilliard and done many Broadway musicals. (Just listen to her devilish “Turn Back, Oh Man” from the recent revival of Godspell.)
I loved your reaction to this, For me, it was shock and awe. I did a deep divve into Morgan James. She is other-worldly in her talent. You wold do yourself a solid to hear some of her other stuff. She has a youtube playlist. Thankf, Larry.

Take a look at her (and PMJs) version of "Maps" or another good one to look at is "Last Nite" covered by Sweet Meg and also featuring a shot by Chloe Feoranzo on Clarinet, who also does a nice cover of "Dancing With Myself"

All the lines in the song are getting clearer. I can finally understand the full power of this anthem. Like Haley Reinhart, Morgan is a bottomless well if inspiration, enjoy. After your beginning here, I'm surprised you got through to the big finish, but i'm glad you did.

This is one of my very favortes of PMJ. PMJ getting Morgan and Haley, sure got 2 great singers. Morgan and Haley have done other songs together outside of PMJ. Also just want to let you know Angelina Jordan dropped her new EP, her new video "Now I'm The Fool" that is written my her if you could react to it I would be so happy and I think you would be happy too it is great.

Larry, I totally agree, this is the best re-interpretation of this classic I've ever seen & I'm glad you finally listened to, if not me at least another one of Subs. The pianist, artistic Director & creator of the PMJ musical collective, Mr. Scott Bradley, does all the arrangements and in my opinion is a genius. Also, Ms. Morgan James is incredible & I would highly recommend checking out any number of singles, she's an incredible soul vocalist. Another fantastic PMJ re=invention by Scott is Maps - by Maroon 5. Scott Bradley turns it into a Vintage 1970s Soul track ft. Morgan James.

Just wanted to comment on her choice to not use vibrato on those long notes. During those notes, the musicians are playing a cadence that is very similar to a singer's vibrato. By not using vibrato, her voice stands out more clearly against the busy background.
I think this was the fastest click on a thumbnail ever. I've been asking for this reaction from you for a long time because the song is amazing.

I've been obsessed with reactions to this song because it moved me SO MUCH when I heard it the first time. My face / brain was the same as yours throughout... "WHAT AM I HEARING? THIS IS.... WHAT AM I HEARING?"
I think that for a cover this is better than the original because it reinvents the song in a different way while still respecting and presenting the full power of the song.
The only other song that I had thoughts like "Can this be better than the original?" is the Pentatonix / Lindsey Sterling version of Radioactive." I would LOVE to see your reaction to that.
I watch reactions to PMJ/Morgan's Dream On (and others by them ) for the same reason. It's like trying to capture that first time high that addicts talk about.

that's the only way to successfully cover/tribute those huges songs, if you copy pasta the song, 99% of time it's a fail.
But if you twist it, make it yours and bring yourself in the song with the amount of talent of PMJ and Morgan you end up with an incredible result.

First off, THANKS so much for your generous gift. I'm always so humbled. As far as Queen, I've been a huge fan growing up with their music! Yes, I have probably watched the Montreal concert a dozen times... Freddie was amazing. I just can't get into Adam Lambert taking his spot. He's very talented, but I've always felt a little jealous of somebody stepping into Freddie's spot. It just feels...wrong... Thanks so much again!

Scott, the pianist, arranges all of PMJ's music.....he finds the best vocalists ( see Haley Reinhardt ).......this one is straight outta' rock & roll re-interpreted......man, those strings are on fire, especially the cellist's solo..........and Morgan ( Julliard trained ) well, she is just in a class by herself.......
Scott's brilliance and willingness to put someone else in the limelight are under-recognized.
