Try listening to Morgans version of (Maroon 5s) "Maps" with PMJ or there are other good conversions like Sweet Meg covering "Last Nite" (from The Strokes) or Dancing With Myself - (Billy Idol) by clarinet player Chloe Feoranzo, who also make an unusual entrance in Meggs "Last Nite" cover. But dont leave out Haley Reinhart or Ariana Savalas.
Saw Morgan James in concert earlier this year and she closed the show with this. As she was signing a CD for my wife and I, I said to her "I think I just saw Steven Tyler waving a white flag." There is a wealth of her stuff on You Tube. Her version of Sarah MacLachlan's "I Will Remember You" brought me to tears and I just today heard her version of Sting's "If You Love Someone Set Them Free" and it's off the charts. She is beyond brilliant.
Just search “Morgan James” and anything you pick will be amazing. My choices would be “take me to church” and “sledgehammer” but again pick ANYTHING & you’ll love it.
@@bobcieslinski I agree Morgan's rendition of "Sledgehammer" is epic. I also recommend PMJ's calab with Morgan of the song "Maps" by Maroon 5, where Scott Bradley transforms this cover into something that sounds like a Motown Classic that could've been sung by Jackson 5 instead of Maroon 5 lol 🤣
Morgan james and haley Reinhart are the cream of the crop pmj artists. Scott is brilliant to transform these songs so convincingly to vintage. Im giddy i get to see pmj live before Thanksgiving

I have seen many vocal coach reactions to this arrangement of Dream On and I really enjoyed hearing your Band leader perspective. It really helped me appreciate it even more. I hadn't realized that it was a cello solo for instance and not a base solo nor that the pianist was the master mind behind the arrangements for PMJ. Thanks very much! More PMJ reactions please.
I would never have thought about this song switched into a jazz type composition, but it was done very well. Her vocals went right along, kind of made me think of Ella Fitzgerald for some reason. Honestly I’d like to hear Asami from Lovebites do a rendition like this, especially since her background is R&B. Using the strings was a nice compliment, but I missed a bit of solo guitar lol. Great selection and reaction!!
Thanks Guy! This group blows me away how they can take a song like that and make it work in that style. The arranging is off thr charts. Man Asami would be a perfect fit for something like this. Good call.
nice reaction bob... morgan james is an amazing singer and performer and fits perfectly with the postmodern jukebox family. she is very different than my favorite haley reinhart but exceptional in her own way. she is opera trained from julliard. this performance is stunning and her best one... imho. the string arrangement is also superb and i think is the same muscians and stage used in the pmj/haley cover "black hole sun". the way the guy on the cello plucks it like a guitar after her first run is super cool (never seen that before). 😎
Thanks so much Jay! Yeah that cello blew me away. That was a new one. Morgan is amazing. I just heard today that she went to Julliard. That says it all. That’s an amazing music school.
Very astute analysis, and yeah... Morgan is one of a kind. High-level classical and musical theatre training brought to Jazz/Blues/Gospel material, and the results are simply stunning.
I was really surprised to see that you hadn't already reacted to this. I'm so glad that you did. This is one of my top five all-time favorite covers. This is the only version of Dream On All ever listen to. One thing I learned from the Temple Music Academy channel is and I'm paraphrasing that they kept the whatever loose on the bottom of the snare drum so that when it was played it was period accurate.
PMJs cover of 'All About That Bass' will get you Haley & Morgan harmonizing together (along with Ariana Sevalas, daughter of actor Telly Sevalas) + some additional extremely creative strings work.
Recently I heard it said that a running "prank" is for PMJ to obscure or just not show the drummer in their videos. I've started to watch for that, and so far it seems to be true. I guess I'll have to keep listening and watching this great band to see.
@bobcieslinski - Here's a tidbit about this that most reactors totally miss regarding Scott's arrangement: The original is in 4/4 time - Scott's is in 6/8! Go listen again - now that you know that, it will jump right off the screen at you!
He’s such an awesome arranger. His arrangements capture the original and yet sound genre specific. That time signature change is one of the reasons it works for them. Thanks.
If you have a chance to see Morgan live, don't pass it up. She's an absolute gem. Her husband Doug also tours with her, and he's damn fine on the guitar. Her work with PMJ is stellar, but don't miss out on the amazing covers of Take Me To Church and Sweet Child of Mine, where it's just her voice and Scott on piano. Her duet with Haley Reinhart on Dear Prudence, with just Doug on guitar is really good, too.
Morgan James is here great and the musicians behind her do a great job to booster the most powerful moments. Those moments are like injection energy of a nuclear bomb directly into you veins. After listening songs like this (also with Haley), I feel like after sport event full of adrenalin. It is just pure perfection.
Hey Bob! Did you also note that the cellist's plucking sounds a lot like a Spanish guitar? yeah, that was outstanding. Now check Morgan w/ Haley & Ariana Savalas in "All About That Bass" and a simple, 2 gals a nd an acoustic guitar cover of Dear Prudence (Morgan & Haley). Just 'clowning' around at friend's house and they are better than most stage performances! Do those 2 videos! 😁
