For example, you can check Jinhsi's trailer, say "wow, I want to see her in-game," and get exactly the same experience. Also, not to be a hater, but HoYo is lazy. Yea, it's actually unfair how dynamic their animations are from a to z. Kinda makes other games look mad lazy on the animations because kuro goes so far an beyond 😩
I already knew Jinhsi would immediately be the top tier one considering that Kuro executed the "elegant and majestic yet powerful" almost if not, flawlessly on her. The way shes graceful while using her broadblade, sitting elegantly on her broadblade, being majestic on mid air while fighting, and despite all of that she still looks powerful, its like she's just playing with her enemies or not using her full power. Its just *Chefs Kiss.* (Edit: I think I glazed a little bit idk hehe my bad)
Was actually looking forward to the good man noticing this, but we may need to be fair enough as changli isn't released yet, so much detail on one character. Let's wait until then. :)
did he ever get to see Calcharo's moveset in his ult? I mean his normals are B tier but I feel like the Intro in ult and just his ult in general and the whole dimension slashing bit raises him to at least an A
His comments on Taoqi and Chixia on pull animation is spot on, if you know their personality you'll get why they animated it that way, Taoqi is lazy and Chixia is clumsy and stiff
exactly! i love how ironically this list is fitting for her, given she is a self trained "hero" with no actual professional training or or like gunkata experience. she just wings it, but manages to keep pulling off the local superhero stint
What I love so much about wuthering waves and Kuro games is that they aren’t afraid to ask for community feedback. It sets a really great environment for the players and developers. Also community feedback can be really important when you’re developing a game from scratch, with not many people being able to play the beta.
19:14 Yuanwu’s head is tilted to show off the golden markings on the side of his neck, as it denotes his and every other character’s powers. You’ll actually notice this is a consistent thing across every ultimate animation-Yangyang gets a close up of her face because the marking is on her forehead, Taoqi gets the arching yawn because it’s on her back, Chixia gets the angled spin because it’s placed on the right(her left) side of her stomach, and so on. Where a character design like Yangyang’s makes the ultimate easy as it’s very naturally satisfying to have wind powers blow her bangs apart to display her forehead, Yuanwu’s animator deserves some credit for actually fighting *against* the character design a bit to tilt his neck enough for us to see the mark past his thick ass sideburns while maintaining the composition of the shot between his face and fist lol. I’d like to think that the animations holding up as well as they do *without* explicit knowledge or consideration of this restriction is another point in their favor.
You should watch all of Calcharo's moves. After using his ultimate move, Calcharo's normal attacks change, and he cooperates with his clones. There is also an entrance animation. I believe he will definitely not be a B rank. He is really super cool.
I think he scaled the other characters differently once he had a better idea of what the game had to offer as well. He had nothing to go off as Calcharo was the first one, and on top of that he missed half of Calcharo's animations
I know I just was dumbfounded when I first saw Jinhsi attack animations. The amount of detail in all of her attacks makes me glad I pulled her. Jinhsi for the win
24:09 There's something cool I wanna mention about Changli's animations that I saw in another video: her character model actually changes as you play her. Basically the more you build her gameplay mechanic's gauge, the more her jacket start to burn, until once the gauge is full she burns it all off and ends up with that blindfold you see in the ult animation. She has four different model states that represent different levels of that gauge, which is IMO a crazy unnecessary but awesome level of detail for that.
Yep as a list: -As she gains Enflamement stacks the top layers of her outfit begin burning away, eventually leaving her in that white dress while its still burning at the ends with a blindfold at max stacks -If she ults at max Enflamement stacks the blindfold burns away -If she is in True Sight state the phoenix feathers in her hair begin glowing and the ribbon that ties her hair begins burning Although unfortunately you probably won't see her blindfold ult that often due to her ult giving her max Enflamement stacks already, so its better to spend those before ulting to immediately refresh them for massive bursts of damage.
OMG I hope he reacts to the future characters as well because WUWA definitely improved with their character animations. Also hope that the video he reacts on will have proper and labeled arrangements of attacks.
@@asoret not really power creeping. DPS wise Jiyan is much more consistent on dealing damage against Jinhsi and can auto parry enemy in his ultimate state. I guess that part was cut for the video. Encore's ult combo i'm less sure, but i'm still pretty sure he saw it. like, 60% certain
I also watched the stream, for encore he saw the forte charged attack outside of ult but the showcase messed up the ult rotation and couldn't show the forte during ult@@MysticCat21
Combat animations are indeed amazing but I think my favorite thing and what makes this game unique is the attention to their faces like cmon on! No other gacha game that I've known come close to this. Not just for the ultimates but in actual combat, in cutscenes (you should check out them they are amazing), in normal conversations, heck even the npcs' faces... They did a good job!
I mean, in terms of character designs and their animation, this game is the best gacha one so far. Its nearly criminal, cause you want to pull EVERY single character
After I watched your PGR review and played WuWa, I keep hoping for myself, "Man, you gotta see this" because of how good the ult animation is (the camera angle, pose, facial animation, etc.). Yet here we are, and I'm just happy with your review :D And I love that you also react to the pull animations and overall attack movesets aswell
I don’t know the specifics of how Kuro handles their in house dev teams or how many of the people who work on PGR also work on WuWa, but they clearly made a big effort to strengthen the compositions and lines of action for the WuWa animations. The fact that Kuro reached out to you specifically makes me suspect that they may even have taken your PGR animation tier video to heart, in which case that makes you a legend bro. 👊
They're always about detail one of the great things I loved about them is no matter how fast the combat pace is they and how flashy some of them are they still manage to make it picture perfect on all angles. Especially in PGR where battle with bosses is not like the generic hack n slash it's like a freaking anime battle. If you want to know what I'm talking about watch blanc videos about PGR not hit run or Rexlent
25:30 thats basically everyones reaction to her enhanced attack, thinking that its her ult and being impressed, and then the real ult comes in and gets blown away
Cool, even more games! What's next? Maybe Aether Gazer? Edit: BTW your PGR video made me interested, so now I'm playing it as well. Great advertisement by Kuro ngl.
After I played with Jinhsi, I had a feeling going into this video that she will blow you away. Great concept to see an animator's POV into these, for us common animations.
I was waiting for this! Their animations just keep on getting better honestly so I wanted to hear your analysis. I hope you do a part 2 when there are more units. Thanks!
Three things I want to mention, alot of personality is often hidden in the sheathing animations at the end of each attack. Then I also didn't often see you check out the various character's heavy attacks. Lastly, I don't know if you checked Calcharo's ultimate combo since it varies heavily from his normal attack combo(aside from the heavy attack).
Love the video. I'm not an animator nor a dancer but I had a lot of intuitive 'feelings' about the characters' animations and I'm glad that you could put them so perfectly into words. As for Chixia though, I think making her feel more stiff in comparison to Danjin is a stylistic choice. Danjin is very graceful in all her movements, her whole set of animations is pretty much graceful buildup into quick impactful motions while all of Chixia's combat animations are very stiff and choppy. I'm not sure as we haven't gotten very deep into learning about the characters but I think this reflects their personalities and "vibe" really well. Great video. I'd love to see a breakdown like this for all the future characters aswell. Definitely subscribing.
Jinhsi animations are so gorgeous that it became one of the reasons why i pulled for her (i usually pull only for gameplay, synergy and/or necessity), and fortunately i got her (and Calcharo) in like 30 pulls i feel really good on how i'm starting this game
8:08 Lmao that was the same reaction I had when I saw his ult, literally the main reason why I pulled for him. 24:13 and 24:50 where also how I reacted, their animations are really good and impactful, tbh I feel like the only requirement for me to pull for a character are that they have awesome animations bc I want both Also as a recently graduated 2D/3D animation student, I wanna do an animation as awesome and cool like that
Kuro did such an amazing job translating elegance into Jinhsi’s animations. Everything about her is so beautiful by far my favorite character (until we get Scar that is)
Kurogames are absolute chefs when it comes to cook animations, even more when you see their attention to the details. You just can't beat those guys when it comes to combat.
I like how when we go through each character in detail, you can spot how people animate differently and can see their own touch. The comment about the dancer made complete sense to me especially as I am learning to go through other people's work as an in-progress animation student to learn about different techniques used by multiple people in the industry.
Also amazing videos. Love that you did this game cause it’s my favorite game. Has everything I wanted and I hope your vids get more views cause it just reaffirms how satisfying the visuals and gameplay are.
You haven't see Jinshi full ballet when fighting. She has by far the most impressive combat animations i've ever seen. My favorite is when she kills something mid air and just walk down like invisible stairs.
changli's animations consist of many small but intricate changes whenever she uses her skill and her ult has a minor change depending on how you use her skill

wish the video emphasized more on the recovery animation, its one of the beauty of this game every attack sequence has their own different recovery animations, most are unique as well. My personal favorite is yangyang animations, but hey great video nontheless!
Notice on how there's no D in any of the characters when he reviews all of their animations and not just the ults? That's the thing with WuWa and PGR, the characters whole flair is all of their movements and animations, not just the ult. Now i want him to make a re-review of PGR characters, but not only their ults, their whole animations. Basic attack, core passive, orb attacks, qte attacks, all of them. Heck why stop at PGR? Make a redo on Genshin, Star Rail, and Honkai Impact 3rd too while at it, that'll be dope actually.
This was such a fun video to watch, The Animations in the game are absolutely incredible but to see them slowed down and explained by a professional who sees things in terms of more technical aspect really shines a light on just how much love the developers put into the animations of the game. great video, have a sub!
I could listen to people talk about all the animations in this game for hours. It's actually insane how pretty they game looks and how well animated it it. And the crazy part is they keep one upping themselves. I'm so bummed that Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao weren't out in time for this video, cause their animations are also so freaking good
In alot of other games, the 'graceful' character looks plain and boring, but man, Jhinsi is just on another level, how do you make a character looks so graceful yet so flashy at the same time
watching these has me smiling uncontrollably especially when my favs get really high ratings, seeing jinshi and your reaction was so amazing i like when its like :O and then immediately first place!!

Yea, it's actually unfair how dynamic their animations are from a to z. Kinda makes other games look mad lazy on the animations because kuro goes so far an beyond 😩
They’ve been doing this in their old game PGR too, it’s so satisfying for them to carry on the tradition here
This is also a detail that's been in Genshin but it feels much more dynamic here since the movesets really move you around a lot more
@@VGJunky hu tao animations still gotta be my favorite from genshin
You forgot to look at Calcharo and Encore's full ultimate animations. Their ultimate also changes the basic attack animations
And Calcharo upgraded intro skill
And Sanhua breaking the ice, but she got high tier anyways
I mean out of all the 4 stars Sanhua and Yuanwu animations and combat feels like a 5 star.@@asoret
And Lingyang’s Forte combat
Ang Verina's heavy attack
I already knew Jinhsi would immediately be the top tier one considering that Kuro executed the "elegant and majestic yet powerful" almost if not, flawlessly on her. The way shes graceful while using her broadblade, sitting elegantly on her broadblade, being majestic on mid air while fighting, and despite all of that she still looks powerful, its like she's just playing with her enemies or not using her full power. Its just *Chefs Kiss.*
(Edit: I think I glazed a little bit idk hehe my bad)
She's like an immortal sword cultivator from a cultivation manwha
@@Wart1076 ahahah
Whats great about Changli's design is that her appearance changes depending on how many stacks you have saved up.
Was actually looking forward to the good man noticing this, but we may need to be fair enough as changli isn't released yet, so much detail on one character. Let's wait until then. :)
@@2poor2whale welp it's peak!!!....
but i'll still go for jinshi as best animation
i may be bias though idk XD
For Calcharo you missed his intro skill which is one of his major animations, please have a look!
yea he skipped the motivation part
did he ever get to see Calcharo's moveset in his ult? I mean his normals are B tier but I feel like the Intro in ult and just his ult in general and the whole dimension slashing bit raises him to at least an A
Yeah, it literally has him and his phantom buddy doing a combo attack!
He didn’t mention the I AM THE STORM THAT IS A APPROACHING move that’s in his ult
Shoko pfp
His comments on Taoqi and Chixia on pull animation is spot on, if you know their personality you'll get why they animated it that way, Taoqi is lazy and Chixia is clumsy and stiff
Also, while I agree on the animations, it's funny how much fun Chixia is to actually play (and how deadly she is).
@@iDEATH Chixia is one of my mains, despite being a 4*, precisely because she's fun and I enjoy using her.
@@iDEATH she deletes everything!
@@EffervescentPhantasm grinding to get the best echo set for her, probably gonna be my deadliest gun unit in the game.
exactly! i love how ironically this list is fitting for her, given she is a self trained "hero" with no actual professional training or or like gunkata experience. she just wings it, but manages to keep pulling off the local superhero stint
I’m glad you covered the four stars too, they got so much effort put into their animations too even if they’re not as cinematic or flashy
They did collab with his studio on PGR fighting cinema so for sure kuro will take note of what he saying. The future is bright for wuwa
No wonder it just TOO SATISFYING to play Jinhsi, her animations are top tier
i knew Jingshi was going win, her pull animation, ult, full skill rotation is beautiful
Also double ultimate animation
You should watch all of Calcharo's moves. After using his ultimate move, Calcharo's normal attacks change, and he cooperates with his clones. There is also an entrance animation. I believe he will definitely not be a B rank. He is really super cool.
I think he scaled the other characters differently once he had a better idea of what the game had to offer as well. He had nothing to go off as Calcharo was the first one, and on top of that he missed half of Calcharo's animations
as much as I love his reaction and mostly agrees to his ranking. I wish he also take into consideration the roles and personality of the resonators.
I know I just was dumbfounded when I first saw Jinhsi attack animations. The amount of detail in all of her attacks makes me glad I pulled her. Jinhsi for the win
literally. i didnt look at any leaks so i was so shocked when i got her and played her
24:09
There's something cool I wanna mention about Changli's animations that I saw in another video: her character model actually changes as you play her.
Yep as a list:
-As she gains Enflamement stacks the top layers of her outfit begin burning away, eventually leaving her in that white dress while its still burning at the ends with a blindfold at max stacks
-If she ults at max Enflamement stacks the blindfold burns away
-If she is in True Sight state the phoenix feathers in her hair begin glowing and the ribbon that ties her hair begins burning
Although unfortunately you probably won't see her blindfold ult that often due to her ult giving her max Enflamement stacks already, so its better to spend those before ulting to immediately refresh them for massive bursts of damage.
He watched the other chars for nearly 2 mins each but only 5 seconds for Changli.. no idea why he even put her on the tier list.
@@Paolini_18 I think it was more like "say no more *instant s tier*" kind of situation. That 5 seconds was enough to s tier her right away

OMG I hope he reacts to the future characters as well because WUWA definitely improved with their character animations. Also hope that the video he reacts on will have proper and labeled arrangements of attacks.
This is a great move from Kuro on how to sell their insane animation. Thank you, your reaction was very entertaining to watch ❤
So the powercreeping in this game is not the damage, but the animation 😂
to be fair jinhsi powercreeps the damage too by a lot
@@asoret not really power creeping. DPS wise Jiyan is much more consistent on dealing damage against Jinhsi and can auto parry enemy in his ultimate state.
Meanwhile Jinhsi needs to dodge or complete her combo first to reach her enhanced skill state.
Jinhsi - Burst
Jiyan - consistent DPS all throughout.
@@HazardToneJiyans ult gets wayy too much in ur face and u lose track of the boss making u get hit more and unable to dodge..thats personally my problem wit it and the auto parry is very good

So you saying that the animations look like illustrations is really on point. I didn't even consider that angle when viewing these.
I normally take screenshots of nuke damage and else, and yeah in this game they look so good, more with jinhsi is like they made the number pop out in the last frames to take the best photos in both skill and ultimate

@@HazardTone nah, Xiangli Yao is 4*. Hopefully Zhezhi is a gun user.
hearing your reviews made me adore wuwa characters more and started paying more attention to the details you pointed.
he skipped a lot of animations sadly. Lingyang aerial combo string and Encore's ultimate combo for example.
because the video he watched only shows that
i watched the stream and i'm like 99% sure he watched lingyang's aerial combos. He commented about how he loved lingyang dancing/fighting on top of the poles, doing splits and all. I guess that part was cut for the video.
Encore's ult combo i'm less sure, but i'm still pretty sure he saw it. like, 60% certain
He also didn't watch verina's dash animat5
Yet here we are, and I'm just happy with your review :D
And I love that you also react to the pull animations and overall attack movesets aswell
Oh shit I love your animation reviews. Please keep doing them!
Yess!!!! Can't wait for Dillon Goo WuWa animations in the future??!?!
WuWa's attention to detail is amazing.
You'd be even more surprised about Changli but bro didn't bother watching all her animations, 5 seconds were enough ig
You forgot the recovery animation, wuwa recovery animation is just peak
25:30 thats basically everyones reaction to her enhanced attack, thinking that its her ult and being impressed, and then the real ult comes in and gets blown away
Tbf, her Enhance Skill 3 might aswell be an ult due to how much damage it does compared to her ult animation's damage xD
Glad to see your ratings on this, as always really nice to hear your insights on this stuff
so happy you finally did this! been waiting for it
"WHAT! That was a movie"
As a DMC and PGR fan , Wuwa has been one of the best payoffs for waiting 2 years... Kuro never dissapoints , GG , and thanks for the vid mr animator
24:13 and 24:50 where also how I reacted, their animations are really good and impactful, tbh I feel like the only requirement for me to pull for a character are that they have awesome animations bc I want both
Also as a recently graduated 2D/3D animation student, I wanna do an animation as awesome and cool like that
Kuro did such an amazing job translating elegance into Jinhsi’s animations. Everything about her is so beautiful by far my favorite character (until we get Scar that is)
The way Dill moans when animation is crisp😂
Kurogames are absolute chefs when it comes to cook animations, even more when you see their attention to the details.
You just can't beat those guys when it comes to combat.

I like how when we go through each character in detail, you can spot how people animate differently and can see their own touch. The comment about the dancer made complete sense to me especially as I am learning to go through other people's work as an in-progress animation student to learn about different techniques used by multiple people in the industry.
Omg I was WAITING for this video 😍
**Jinhsi shows up**
"It's a MOVIE!"
Her entire MOVES is a MOVIE! 😂
Nice content. This just made me love the game even more. Definitely deserves a sub. 👌
Also amazing videos. Love that you did this game cause it’s my favorite game. Has everything I wanted and I hope your vids get more views cause it just reaffirms how satisfying the visuals and gameplay are.
Ah yes, the animation tier list. The only tier list worth paying attention to. 😁
Your models tracking is so natural it’s scary. Kudos to your artist and rigger. They are amazing. ❤
I LOVE WUWA SO MUCH
Calcharo changes his looks after using his ult
And his attack animations are sick
23:33 did bro just bust to a guy😭
Bro I was thinking that
Once i started to play with Jinhsi I immediately knew her animations were the best in the game. So fluid and impactful
THIS IS SO GOOD PLEASE CONTINUE TO DO THESE
Great list. Completely agree with every step of the way. Feels good to see people appreciating Yinlin and Yinhsi animations.
Finallyyy i was waiting for this for ages
4:05 This caught me so off guard lmfaoo
didnt expect i would watch this video to full , this was very well done
You haven't see Jinshi full ballet when fighting. She has by far the most impressive combat animations i've ever seen. My favorite is when she kills something mid air and just walk down like invisible stairs.
changli's animations consist of many small but intricate changes whenever she uses her skill and her ult has a minor change depending on how you use her skill
Hello im planning on amaking a game inspired by every gacha game ive played now, and goo youve really helped with tips on how to make dynamic animation and poses, also wuwa, genshin, hsr, and more inspired me to make my own open world in the future with amazing stories and beautiful world and awesome characters
Thank you Goo❤
I was pulling like, for nothing.
And then I got Jinhsi, my reaction was like:
:O(for the next five minutes)
bro i love listening to people go into detail about things they are really educated in this. i dont understand much about animation but oh my i was INVESTED
Jinshi truly is a masterpiece of a character, the more i use her the more i'm mesmerized by her movements
1.1 and it already has the best animations of all the gachas 🗿
6:22 so what i noticed about sanhua after many hours with her is that she doesn't actually unsheathe the sword until she does her 4th and 5th normal atk
really enjoyed watching this, I appreciate the animations even more. Also, very educational.
wish the video emphasized more on the recovery animation, its one of the beauty of this game every attack sequence has their own different recovery animations, most are unique as well. My personal favorite is yangyang animations, but hey great video nontheless!
Jianxin's ult face is my favorite out of any gacha. The concentration just makes her look amazing
Yinlin movement are indeed so good
Jinhsi is gorgeous
My bday gift came early. Thank you Prof Goo!
I could listen to people talk about all the animations in this game for hours. It's actually insane how pretty they game looks and how well animated it it. And the crazy part is they keep one upping themselves. I'm so bummed that Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao weren't out in time for this video, cause their animations are also so freaking good
In alot of other games, the 'graceful' character looks plain and boring, but man, Jhinsi is just on another level, how do you make a character looks so graceful yet so flashy at the same time
Yessss was waiting on the next review video from you! 🎉🎉🎉
Jinhsi is just incredible. She´s a new character and besides looking majestic is just insane to play with
FINALLY! I was waiting for this letsgooooooooo!!

I literally just saw your videos for the first time yesterday starting at the HSR animations and that immediately made me want WuWa animations. The fact that a day later you post the video is crazy.
Waited for this sooo long..❤
Jinshi's movements are very smooth. It looks like Kuro really worked on this character very carefully because she is a Magister.
I am so glad Jinshi is in the video ^^
This is the first video of yours that I've watched and the way you explain everything is so good. Very credible, and you sound like a real expert. Insta subbed!
