    Would like to see this with brass made rounds.

    I've been loading 690 ball for a few years now per Ballistic Products data with Herco.
    Got an auction coming up with a couple rifled slug guns I'm trying for, your vidio convinced me to try for them.
    In a smoothbore the 690 has been shearing the petals off in some vidios, has your Federal wad loads had any signs of shearing the petals?
    I don't hunt, just like experimenting for fun.

      Thanks for watching Jeff. I haven't noticed that condition. I will check next time I have a chance to get the range.

    Thanks for the video! While you could drive those much faster with more powder, I think your accuracy would suffer. Looks like your load is a good balance point. Are those genuine Federal wads, or the Claybuster replacement? I know the CBs I bought had ribs on the inside of the shotcup that splayed the petals as a slug or .69 cal ball was inserted.

    That's some impressive accuracy, how is it through a smooth bore barrel?

    • @12galife
      @12galife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. Not as accurate through a smooth bore but not bad 3in group at 40 yards

      @@12galife that's not bad at all, i have seen commercial slugs do worse.

    Hey bud, I'm just trying for smooth bores. This a good load?

    • @12galife

      As long as it's cylinder bore you should have no problem.

      @@12galife thank so much for the videos. I've been seriously considering on loading .69 ball but wasn't sure how they would do.
      Would they cycle the 930SPX? With that low of a velocity? It was nice to see you using HS-6 too. It's what I use in a majority of my handgun rounds so I got a decent stock of that.

    • @12galife
      @12galife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure if they will cycle through a 930 never ran them in mine. I have fired them in my 1100 with no issues but that thing eats everything. HS-6 is one of my favorite powders and easy to find in my area now if I could get my hands on some blue dot that would be great

      Yea blue, red and green are tough to find. Luckily I live within a hour drive of Grafs and several other places that try to keep a decent stock on things. My main problem is primers...

    How does a load like this work with a rifled choke? I’m looking at stuffing the .685 balls for my musket down into a 12 gauge shot cup and shooting it through a rifled choke on my cheap single barrel survival gun.

    • @12galife
      @12galife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good day Seth and thanks for watching. I haven't tried this load through a rifled choke so I don't have a good answer for you. All I can say is it works great through a fully rifled barrel and not to bad through a smoothbore.

    • @sethmullins8346

      @@12galife I can’t imagine I could go wrong then. I’ll give it a shot and let you know. They make a tool to cut the middle of a star crimp out of a shell that people use to re-cast cheap bird shot into slugs.

    Do you find that firing no-sabot ammo through fully rifle barrel harms the barrel?

    • @12galife
      @12galife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tim thanks for watching. No harm to the barrel at all. You will get some lead fouling but that can be cleaned out.
