    I've fallen down the reloading video rabbit hole. That automatic powder dispensing scale. Wow, things have changed a lot since I last thought about getting into reloading. This is going to be a fun (if expensive) hobby. LOL

    After getting my 1st 12ga recently (Mossberg Maverick), this is why I've been toying with getting into reloading. To be able to cut down my once shot (and others I pick up) hull & reload into minis just for fun.

    I like to trim to 2½" and put a ¼" wad, so the loaded length is about 2". The 1¾" tend to jam if I single load through the ejection port.

    Hi there, great videos that are intersting and educational, may you long contine! Can you possibly let me know the amount of longshot used in these short shells, as from the UK Ballistic products cannot supply me with either a manual or even a download at this time.

At auction i just pick up a Mec 600 JR, with 12 & 410 Dies With it a 55 & 30 gallon barrel full hulls, 6 + bricks of Primers, 1000 each and 3Lb Bullseye, 3Lbs Red-dot & 4lbs of Unique My First question what's the TRIM to length of the these short shells so they can be re-Crimped to two inches ? My Next question Can the three Powders, Bullseye, Red-dot & Unique be used to reload short 12 Ga, 00 Pellets & Next what shotgun re-loader's manual would you recommend, for 12 Ga, 00 Pellets

      Thanks for watching. I cut my short shells down to two inches and use a roll crimp. I have never tried a fold crimp on a short shell so I can't really answer that. For your powders i have only used Unique for slugs. And For load data books get as many as you can find. Lymans 5th, Ballistic products, and one of my go to books is called The Complete Reloading Manual for the 12 Gauge Shotshell. Its a little blue book with data from powder manufactures, RCBS and Lyman. Found mine at Cabalas for a good price. Also lots of free data online. If your new to reloading please use caution and always follow published load data for your safety. Please check out Buck and Slug Reloaders on FB its a great group to learn from. Have a great day.

      Good day and thanks for watching. Before I started reloading I watched tons of videos on TH-cam mostly Bubba Roundtree he has a lot of great videos. Then I got the Lyman 5th edition data book and a MEC Jr 600 press and went all in from there. Also joined Buck and slug reloaders group on Facebook a lot of good people on there willing to help and answer questions. Start small and go from there.

    • @SilntObsvr
      @SilntObsvr ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@12galife I'd agree with everything here, except there's no need to spend the money on a MEC press. For less than half the outlay you can get a Lee Load All II, perfectly usable out of the box. If you want to, you can spend money on it for things like a bottle conversion (to have easy changes of powder and shot), you can modify it to do 2" shells like these (out of the box it won't do a fold crimp shorter than 2 3/4", but for roll crimp you use another tool anyway, and you can drill one hole and make it ready for 2 1/2 or 2 1/4, another hole below that gets 2 and even 1 3/4, and simple mod to the crimp finisher lets it crimp down to 2 1/2 or shorter). Easy no-cost mods exist for faster shot and powder changes, and it's easily and cheaply switched over for 16 and 20 gauge (there are conversions for 28 and .410, too, but they're more expensive).
      Disclaimer: I'm cheap, and I just got a Load All II, so I'm still pretty happy with mine; that might change after a few hundred rounds, but I doubt it will.

    An actual length on the cut down hull would have been nice. You’ve made a nice, long video with no actual data. Just time wastage.

    How many shells in a Mossberg 930?

    • @12galife
      @12galife  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching. I never tried them through my 930 so I can't give you a good answer. Only tried them through my pumps. 870 was a no/go had a few jams in my Winchester they ran flawless through the Mossberg 500
