Finally, someone else extolling the most excellent Executive! I've carried the Executive for something like 30 years. I've tried several others but like the Executive's form factor; two layer, 75mm, twin blades. After watching lots of video's, and hearing others worship of the Compact, I purchased one and have been trying it out. What I like about the Compact is the more robust blade and scissors. I miss the file on the Executive that also doubles as a phillips screw driver and also miss the small blade. I also really like the lighter weight of the Executive. The Compact has certainly earned a place in the rotation; but the Executive is still my go to EDC Knife. To be sure, habit plays a large part in my preference! I will confess that of late the Compact has been my EDC of choice, I've come to appreciate the more rugged blade. What I miss is the nail file that the Executive has.
A wonderfully in-depth take on the Executive! My favourite aspects of the piece would be the inclusion of the two blades and scissors, all while keeping such a small frame. To me, it combines the best elements of the Classic with those of a larger knife. Also, I noticed you mentioned the Compact being heralded as arguably the best Swiss Army Knife, and ironically, you're not the only commenter who brought up the Compact!! 😅 Perhaps there's some truth that statement? Cheers!
Lovely little knife, thanks for showing us this one, 👍,, Having just moved house, I definitely have use for a box opener , lol,, All the best my friend, from England,, 🙂
Brilliant review mate! I love this size of Victorinox. Handy but still keyring size. It's just a shame they have discontinued these and a lot of decent models. Cheers mate 🤝
I ignored Victorinox for years then I saw they did a single blade version so I bought it, called the Solo in Alox back in the day the, I was astounded at the build quality so now I have bought more another single blade from the garden range and the Bantom Silver Alox, wasn't keen on multi blade/tool versions but did want knife with scissors after looking at alternatives I went for the Compact and was pleasantly surprised with the Cellidor scales they are robust, just goes to show until you have something in hand you can't judge.
I think it’s a shame the discontinued the 74mm frame… I find the 58mm good for use in a pinch, but too small for regular use… and the 91mm tools too large to comfortably sit in my pocket, and my preferred models tend to be the larger ones with more tools, so I like to keep those in a bag or glove compartment. I think the 74mm size is a true “pocket” knife.
Sadly, this model has become extremely elusive. I wish I could help you in finding one, but I, myself, can't find them anywhere! Good luck, regardless. Cheers!
So you are not just not an enthusiast of citrus fruit, but also have never used an orange peeler, or this orange peeler much. 🤐😉 It's not the "serrated" part that is the most important for that, but the "hooklike" flat where the serrated part ends and goes over into the handle. That's where it is sharp (surpriingly sharp). And you pull that inot the orange peel and around the orange to get access. It does work pretty well, but like with all sugary fruit, you need to clean the tool afterwards. The serrated part for example is not on normal plastic orange peelers i know. But it can be used to scrape off some of the peel or a citrus fruit. ("cests" i think chefs call that). Apart from that: i used that knife for years as my EDC. During a few years of engineering school and during internships. I used it for wire stripping of telephone wires while installing telephone sockets for copmanies (during one internship) and i got so used to it and fast that with those fine gauge wires, i still am faster with a SAK than with a dedicated tool. I use the blade, and it needs to be sharp, but not too sharp because otherwise the pressure you put on with your thumb cuts you where the wire isn't. Thats the reason i don't make the end of the blade close to the handle of my SAKs razorsharp. I really really like this knife, and it's kind of sad that they discontinued it. (I was wondering if i should get a second one just in case but didn't and now they are gone.) It's my second favorite EDC pocket knife. (after the sportsman, which i have carried for longer and still do. ->no eyeglass screwdriver in the smaller models...)
Good day. I see that your video has been uploaded 4 months ago. You said that some stores still have the executive available. Is there anyway possible for you to assist me to find one more than one. I can honestly say that I’ve been carrying the executive in my pocket for 21 years. The first one was damaged. Second one is in my pocket right now. And my third one as a backup safely in my vault. I take it that you are somewhere in the US. I’m asking for assistance all the way from South Africa . Kind regards André
Salutations! Unfortunately, the only retailer that I was aware of which stocked this model has since sold out. I purchased the Executive back in 2021, whilst it was still available at my local House of Knives. Currently, Victorinox's website has no purchasing options and none of the retailers I usually buy from appear to have the Executive at the moment. I wish I could offer a greater degree of help, but given the fact that this model has been discontinued, it will likely be very difficult to find one now, considering the demand due to scarcity. My best suggestion is to keep an eye on the secondary market-perhaps turning to a place such as the 'All About Pocket Knives' forum. www.allaboutpocketknives.com// Again, apologies for not being able to direct you to an exact dealer. In my experience, the Executive has almost completely vanished from sale in most places-so by all means, best of luck in your search! Cheers!
Not bad, i can see it being a good knife to have in the office environment. Would have been nice to have a plus scale for a pen and a combo tool for can opening and bottle cap lifter. Oh wait, what would be a Victorinox Compact. :-) So if a Victorinox Compact had an orange peeler, it would be perfect. By the way, I subscribed.
You're the second commenter on this video to praise the Compact...at this rate, I may need to bite the bullet and try one out! Thank you very much for watching and subscribing! Cheers!
it was the first SAK I got while in the USAF my second SAW was the Climber it's what they had in the BX unfortunately the Executive is now gone... discontinued... I thought they could have done better than an Orange Peeler but it was larger than the Classic which was nice Victorinox...? The Fall Of The Empire Enjoy The Collapse 🤪 😠😡🤬💥💀
What a great testimony! It really is sad how Victorinox discontinues loved models, and yet does little to offer new alternatives! Quite a shame... Cheers!
Very cool piece, it's a shame that one was discontinued. Thanks for the look at it, buddy!
A shame, indeed, as it really is a great carry knife...
Cheers, as always!

It really is the perfect cross between the 58 and the 84!
Thanks for stopping in!
Cheers, as always!
I used a dremel to grind the top tip of the small blade. It makes a precise tip. I do that to all my extra, small blades.
Interesting idea! I think that would provide a great little utility blade.
Cheers!
They also made the Director, which is the same but with metal scales.
Of course, they discontinued it, as Victorinox does with all their good models...
I never knew about the Director! Shame it got discontinued...
Cheers!
