There is another type of hand cuff you see a lot in Europe in the uk there called speed cuffs which don’t have a chain but are solid between each side making them more difficult if not impossible to pick depending on what way the keyhole is and if the double lock active. I don’t remember seeing these in the US but worth knowing there out there.
@@user-kl5zd2oe3e I know the style you’re talking about and there kind of a compromise between the two main styles. Personally I still prefer the non hinged style
Wow, I started using this technique somewhere in the 80's, suck an obvious handcuff hack surprised it's taken this long to be noticed. I took off one half of the tweezers, bent one end over by 2mm and always to this day have it in the centre rear loop of my jeans.
Like to see you try that with a pair of rigid cuffs🤔. There aren’t many police services in the UK that use the older style of cuffs with a chain separating them anymore.
retired locksmith here. i would like to assure viewers that these opening methods are indeed legitimate. these attacks DO work on actual, unmodified, proper handcuffs.
Cuffs have definitely come a long way. My grandfather was Chief of Police so I started learning to get myself out of em as a kid just playing around with my friends. The newer ones are def harder to defeat than the 80s & 90s versions.
Bravo Andrew I have always wanted to know how this was done oh and I had a laugh at your jail house music comment lol good one mate it's always good to add some humor.
Makes a good case to wear a belt with your pants. I keep shims and a key taped to the underside of my belt. (Also a razor blade, if traveling overseas a few gold coins to grease the skids.)
If you believe that you’re gonna do all of that by feel and behind your back you are sadly mistaken. This will require many repetitions to be able to do it. Never mind that more than likely all of your stuff will be taken. So good luck with that. Good that you showed the technique so that if you want you can begin your practice.
In practicing escaping cuffs, I've found that most cuffs 2ndary lock can be defeated with slamming the cuffs against the wall. I've done this with a pair of cheap cuffs but should work with all . Experiment. I'm use to picking the lock with a paper clip bent correctly and escaping handcuffed behind my back. Make a game of it. And also learn how to escape zip ties and flex cuffs. Like to see the Major show options to defeating those. I'd never seen this. I love my Swiss army knives. Great Andrew. Bravo Zulu on this👍
You can use a paperclip, a staple, or any small piece of flexible metal to escape handcuffs. Handcuffs are easy to get out of with the right debri around you. Determination is a must.
lol....... You'd be hilariously surprized then. Police detectives and patrol officers and left me with a larger knife that that before and being cuffed, searched and transported.
Great job and a very important knowledge tool for the mental toolbox!!!! Hope I never get in cuffs but if I do I will try it or I might just dislocate my thumb … lol not!!! Again good vid bro
If you have four hands this will be simple to do when one set of hands is free to operate otherwise this wouldn’t work at all if you are cuffed behind your back.
Nice. The Foreign Legion knows a similar trick with a toothpick. For a padlock you have the same option if you want to open it. Cut a piece of Coke can and push it into the gap where the latch holds the bracket. Maybe cut the sheet a little diagonally.
You did just what I expected. Using a thin strip of spring steel to escape handcuffs is an old escape artist trick, and I knew tweezers were included in SARs.
When my Son returned from SERE-C he showed me how he could escape from cuffs using a small straight pin he had hidden somewhere on his person. I'm a long time LEO, have handcuffed many in real world, and had double locked my cuffs. His demo pretty much ended my confidence in cuffs. Good thing I had retired.
I learned about this in the early 90’s as a teenager with a paper clip then we found out about the Swiss Army tweezers trick later love this video thanks it takes my back to my bad boy days
Nice video, in my country the cuffs have no chains anymore ( s&w hinge type with side push double lock) so no rotation movement, if the keyhole is on the inner side and double lock is on, even with the key is nearly impossible to free yourself. The keyhole is kind of tapered to the inside, the Victorinox tweezers are to big for this, the lever to unlock the double lock is on the other side of the notch ( requires 180° turn) The shim technique does work but getting the double lock off with tweezers is no option.
That is the best presentation I've seen by far! Thank you! If you have keys, this is a great back up option! Thanks for the knowledge. I'd love to see the 3rd type done if you can find them! Great stuff! Thank you for sharing this critical information!

Like to see you try that with a pair of rigid cuffs🤔. There aren’t many police services in the UK that use the older style of cuffs with a chain separating them anymore.
Thank you very cool! Practice this for sure.
retired locksmith here. i would like to assure viewers that these opening methods are indeed legitimate. these attacks DO work on actual, unmodified, proper handcuffs.
Thank you for teaching us!
An excellent kernel of knowledge; thank you!!
I AM glad U showed IN detail this way save yourself!
There's no-one there to compare with Your channel Sir. Cheers from Poland.🫵🏻
Jesus, Charlie. Get a life.
If you believe that you’re gonna do all of that by feel and behind your back you are sadly mistaken. This will require many repetitions to be able to do it. Never mind that more than likely all of your stuff will be taken. So good luck with that. Good that you showed the technique so that if you want you can begin your practice.
Let's get this guy over 200k subs he's well over due ✊🏿
Hear, hear.
Excellent tip Andrew!!
Bravo Zulu on this👍
Outstanding Andrew!
Good to know, thanks, Andrew👌👍
You can use a paperclip, a staple, or any small piece of flexible metal to escape handcuffs. Handcuffs are easy to get out of with the right debri around you. Determination is a must.
Brilliant hack 👍🏻💪🏻💯thx Andrew
The idea that someone would handcuff you and leave you with your SAK is hilarious.
But if an ally had one, they could get the cuffs off.
Excellent video, thanks Andrew.
Nice. The Foreign Legion knows a similar trick with a toothpick. For a padlock you have the same option if you want to open it. Cut a piece of Coke can and push it into the gap where the latch holds the bracket. Maybe cut the sheet a little diagonally.
Major Andrew very nice use of a SAK👍🇺🇸
You did just what I expected. Using a thin strip of spring steel to escape handcuffs is an old escape artist trick, and I knew tweezers were included in SARs.
Good tutorial Col. I learned how to defeat cuffs 50 plus yrs ago.
When did he get promoted? Andrew was just promoted to Major in the last 2 years.
Great video, thanks for sharing, stay safe!!!
Great video buddy
Great demonstration! Swiss Army Knife for the win!
Thanks Andrew for sacrificing your tweezers for us!
Thanks for sharing. Perhpas come in handy when Marshall Law begins .
"martial" law.
You need to change your channel to "Dancing hands that will save your life " lol All love, followed for years. Just wanted to make a suggestion haha
OUTSTANDING SIR.
Outstanding video brother!!! Keep walking with our KING!!
The keyhole is kind of tapered to the inside, the Victorinox tweezers are to big for this, the lever to unlock the double lock is on the other side of the notch ( requires 180° turn)
The shim technique does work but getting the double lock off with tweezers is no option.
I have the Ni plated S&W. I have never figured out how to undo the double lock. I had used eyeglasses to shim before as long as not double locked.
These is d best victorinox pocket knife survival I ever watched. Great Job Ranjersurvival 👍👍👍
Wowww, how cool is that! Congratulation, i like this video very much!
Excelente tip, muy buen truco para quitarse las esposas con las pincitas de la navaja Suiza..!! Muy buena explicación..!! Excelente video..!!
Jailhouse music , Lol ! Good video
Could be very useful, and thank you for your sacrifice, as you are probably now on a list!!😊
That is the best presentation I've seen by far! Thank you! If you have keys, this is a great back up option! Thanks for the knowledge. I'd love to see the 3rd type done if you can find them! Great stuff! Thank you for sharing this critical information!
