- NASCAR is a team sport much like many of professional sporting leagues around the world. Some of their teams have been around for over half a century, while others just entered the garage in the last few years.
This is NASCAR Team History. Much like many of our other videos, we look to do a deep dive into the history of NASCAR. In this series, we focus on the teams that field your favorite drivers.
Today we look at one of NASCAR's premier teams, Team Penske. One of Motorsports greatest teams.

Forgot to mention that Cindric’s Daytona 500 win was on Roger Penske’s birthday. Certainly a memorable moment for the team
It's worth pointing out that Kenseth wasn't necessarily that mad about what Joey did at Kansas, but the attitude Joey displayed after that incident. Coupled with Brian France openly siding with Logano, and Kevin Harvick getting a very itchy arm at Talladega, thus eliminating Kenseth from the playoffs, led to what happened at Martinsville
Edit: Penske shut the Xfinity program down because when Harrison Burton got promoted to the 21 due to Cindric going to the 2 to replace Brad K, they had neither a driver nor the funding to run a full program, and so they shut the program down

Penske was in formula 1 as well from 1974 to 1977 making 41 gp entries with 1 win and scored 23 total points. Their one win would come from John Watson in 1976 at the now called Redbull Ring in Spielberg, Austria one year after a tragic accident took Mark Donohue’s life at the same track.

I was an avid Kenseth fan, and I know at Kansas he got dumped. And he had just gotten dumped by Keselowski on the prior restart at Martinsville. Matt was always a fair racer, you race him clean, he'll race you clean. Joey's attitude after Kansas didn't sit well, and the crowd reaction after he dumped Joey at Martinsville showed, as Dale Jr said, don't wreck Matt Kenseth. I was at the Texas race the next week, still decked out in full Kenseth gear, cheering for Jones to give the 20 car a good race.

Technically, the 2023 Coke 600 and Indy 500 weren't on the same day, as the Coke 600 got delayed to Monday due to rain. Felt off, the Coke 600 being on Memorial Day itself, as the only other time I can remember it not being a Sunday night race is 2008.
Anyway... memorable moments for RCR:
Dale Earnhardt (1998), Kevin Harvick (2007), and Austin Dillon (2018) winning the Daytona 500.
Dale Earnhardt (1995), Kevin Harvick (2003), and Paul Menard (2011) winning the Brickyard 400.
Kyle Busch's 3-win (and counting) season in his first for RCR.
Dale Earnhardt, Jr. winning the summer Daytona race in the then-Nationwide Series driving the Wrangler Jeans No. 3.
Austin Dillon winning the 2013 Nationwide Series championship without winning a single race all season.

Dishonorable mention for RCR: Harvick vs Ty Dillon head butting in the truck series in 2013. Harvick was on his way out. Called the Dillons spoiled rich kids. No wonder he was leaving. Flash forward 10 years and Harvick runs #29 again with good grace from Childress.
I don’t remember the rusty in the truck series thing! And that is definitely a memorable moment for Harvick 😂

RCR----Can't forget 1998 at Daytona when "Sunday Money" "The Intimidator" Dale Earnhardt finally won the Daytona 500 and 6 championships
Fun fact: Larry Mac almost wanted to rip a new one to "Capt. Jack" over the radio

Talladega 2000, Earnhardt came from 18th to win the race and a million
1983 Ricky Rudd winning at Riverside
1999 Goody's 500 "I wanted to rattle his (Labonte's) cage"
The most memorable moment in RCR history is obliviously Dale Sr winning the Daytona 500. But I'd have Dale Jr winning in the 3 car at Daytona up there and Austin Dillon winning the 500.
If I'm mistaken, the Team Penske name made its return in 2014 or whenever it was, when Penske moved ALL of his motorsports teams under one roof.

I think the reason so few cup teams have xfinity teams now is simple...$$. They can sell support to the lower tier teams, and poach the desired drivers as they see fit. Its all about the Benjamins.

Rusty Wallace is probably my favorite Penske Driver I watching his races on TV when I was a youngin.

I'll just say this. Logano got what he deserved, and my all time favorite got his final cup win. Arguably because of that wreck.

In my opinion, Kenseth was 100% in the wrong on the track. Logano had the spot and Matt came down and threw a terrible block at Kansas, then he was upset over his teammate causing his damage at martinsville. I would like to add however, that this whole drama was entirely Brian Frances fault off the track for egging it on.

Its funny the first championship and last championship, as of September, 2023, they had 3 championships in 10 years. Brads championship is the best one. If you know y, u know.
