- NASCAR is a team sport much like many of professional sporting leagues around the world. Some of their teams have been around for over half a century, while others just entered the garage in the last few years.
This is NASCAR Team History. Much like many of our other videos, we look to do a deep dive into the history of NASCAR. In this series, we focus on the teams that field your favorite drivers.
Today we look at the oldest active team in the sport, Wood Brothers Racing.
I appreciate all your support, thanks so much!

Another great wood brothers moment was Marcos Ambrose wheeling the 21 to a third place finish at Watkins Glen
i think one moment/ honorable mention for SHR is all 4 cars making the round of 8 in 2018, shows how great the team was that season
Very true! Great mention!
I grew up with my dad and uncle pulling for the 21 every week. Although I’m not old enough to remember them when the silver fox was dominating but at 2 years old my dad had me saying the 21 was a race car and the 43 was junk! I don’t remember it but they had fun with me. Love the tribute too the woods brothers. It brings tears to my eyes! Thanks again.
Love to hear that!
If you look at the history and achievements of Leonard Wood you will find that he is a living mechanical genius.
I will definitely check into this, thanks for the recommendation!
Honorable mention for the Stewart Haas racing vídeo:
The 2023 cup season is the first time in SHR history that the team when winless.
But, on the Xfinity Season they won 4 times plus the Championship with Cole Custer.😅
Love it! Thanks a ton!
SHR honorable mentions
Kevin winning the 2014 title
Kurt finally getting his 500 win
Riley driving the ken block throwbacks
Harvick driving the 29 one more time
Tony Stewart's clutch 5 win chase run to his 3rd title
Tonys last win
All of these are incredible, thanks a ton!
Love wood brothers!!
It’s hard not to!
One honorable mention I would have for Stewart Haas racing is the dominance they had at the 2018 fall Talladega race
No doubt! Great mention!
Although I’m an Earnhardt fan until I die I have to say that I think that David Pearson is the greatest NASCAR driver of all time. I love watching old races with him in them. I wish I was old enough to have been around when he was actually racing!! If him and the Wood Brothers had stayed together there is no telling how many more races they both would have won.
Imagine if he got started with them earlier than he did! Great points, thanks for watching!
For SHR
Kevin Harvick's 2014 championship in his first year with SHR
Love it!
I saw my first NASCAR race in 1968 at the Atlanta spring race. I was 7. A kid named Cale showed them the way to the checkered flag that day and he, and The Woods Brothers became my heroes that day and they still are all these years later.
This is amazing, thanks for sharing this! I would give a lot to be able to go back and watch those guys run.
A little back story to that is when we got ready to go home the old Studebaker we went up there in didnt have any oil pressure. My Dad and my Uncle worked on it and we walked over to the fence at the Cup garage. The Woods Brothers were still there doing their post race teardown. Glenn and Leonard came over to the fence and talked to them about it. Mr Leonard went and got us a oil filter to put on the car to see if it would fix it, it didnt and we had to ride a Greyhound home but the fact that they were willing to try to help tells you all you need to know about what kind of men they were. Lord only knows what I would pay to have that 50 cent Purolator filter now.@@DoglegMediaMatt
Stewart Hass:
2011 Chase for cup
2016: Stewarts last win in NASCAR
Love it!
i went to the WBR Museum after Martinsville and was impressed by the items they have. I highly recommend a stop there. I got Len, Lenoard & Eddies autograph. Richard had no issues with Kyle racing for WB, but im sure on the track it was a diff story haha. If you look at the painted numbers and sponsors on the early cars you can see a difference, thats because they were done by diff people. A true art form in racing gone. :( I rem sadlers first win with WBR. I liked him on my list of other drivers to watch after that. I forgot Trevor only ever got a single win. Sad. HB is leaving the team after this yr and one of the SHR guys is gonna fill his spot. Where HB goes i dont know. But he is an ok driver, lead a few laps here and there but nothing big. Idk they helped win the one Indy 500.
Bodine Bros are my connection to NASCAR.
The 1963 Daytona 500 Tiny Lund story was my favourite, talk about a real life underdog hero tale.
You couldn’t write a better story!
SHR Honorable mentions: Tony Stewart turning that team around, and the improbable 2011 Championship run.
As always you’re welcome I’m just happy to get the mention in the honorable mentions lol 😂
Great stuff as always!!
Honorable mentions for Stewart-Haas
Send off Tony and Gordon burn out
And I’ll Throw a curveball to you if you want it
Gene Haas only Win Pre Toney Jason lefflers Xfinity/Busch win at Nashville 2004
- Pib
Great mentions! Thanks as always!
Kudos to mentioning the other numbers used. I was hoping you’d catch those, particularly the 7 of Kyle Petty.
Oh yeah! Anytime the wood brothers deviated from the 21 it had to get mentioned!
#121...how come NASCAR doesn't have 3 digits cars anymore?
@@arthurpasseri4590 honestly, I have no idea why they don’t allow it, that’s a great question!
SHR honorable mentions:
Tony Stewart’s last win in 2016
Kevin Harvick’s 2014 championship win
Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards tiebreaker in 2011
Kevin Harvick driving the 29 one last time in 2023
Kyle Busch spinning out Tony Stewart in 2009
Kurt Busch 2017 Daytona 500 win
Great stuff! Thanks Divine!
Honorable mentions for Stewart haas

I feel like the WBR #21 Car would do better with any of the following drivers (In Order):
1. Matt DiBenedetto
2. Landon Cassill
3. Corey LaJoie
4. Noah Gragson
5. Justin Haley (50/50 on this suggestion)
Well, judging on Haley's 2024 he would do far better than Burton does
And btw thanks, finally someone put respect on Landon Cassill
@@santinoandreoli6759 Cassill is underrated, give him a ride for next year.
@@jareddiamond5133 yeah he's great and no one seems to see it
@@santinoandreoli6759 What Truck, Xfinity or Cup Team would you see Landon Cassill go Full-Time in?
For the Truck Series, I have four choices (In no particular order):
1. The TRICON Garage #1 Toyota
2. The Spire Motorsports #7 Chevrolet
3. The Rackley WAR #25 Chevrolet
4. The Niece Motorsports #45 Chevrolet
For the Xfinity Series, I have five choices (In no particular order):
1. The SS-Green Light Racing #07 Chevrolet
2. The Sam Hunt Racing #26 Toyota
3. The Alpha Prime Racing #43 Chevrolet
4. The Alpha Prime Racing #45 Chevrolet
5. The DGM Racing #92 Chevrolet
For the Cup Series, I have two choices (In no particular order):
1. The Wood Brothers Racing #21 Ford
2. The Spire Motorsports #71 Chevrolet
I have a suggestion for a series. The 75 greatest drivers. Go thru them in order and explain why they are on the list.
I love it! Thanks a ton!
I’m disappointed that the wood brother weren’t actually made of wood. False advertisement.
Just kidding
No refunds 😂
Awesome vid man! Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks a ton!!!
Harrison Burton is about 22 years old, so I think Penske/Wood will be patient with him. I also think the new Dark Horse Mustang might be a winner for Ford. I think he might give WBR win #100 in 2024...
Woah! Pretty bold prediction but I would love to see it!
@@DoglegMediaMatt Matt, who knows, I think Ford's will be better in 2024 and Penske will be stronger, which means WBR will be stronger. I think Todd Gilliland will win a race, too.
@@arthurpasseri4590 I really hope your predictions come true! That would make for a VERY interesting season
You forgot the Marcos Ambrose Paul Menrad and Matt Dibenedetto all drove the 21 car but didn't get a win.
That’s very true! Thanks for filling in the gaps!
