It's great seeing this part two! I love the repeat of the battery powered lightbulbs because they are so useful. Looking forward to a part 3 next year 😉
Hack for shower. Use a small tote box. Keep it elsewhere. Put what u need for todays shower and tote the things to the bathroom. We DO NOT need everything in our shower ALL the time. Each family member has their own tote. I have nothing in my shower. You would not believe how much space and how relaxing it is to not have all that clutter. It’s also quick and easy to clean as you don’t need to remove anything to clean.
Thanks! I unfortunately don’t have the storage space to store multiple shower totes while they’re not in use but I did this when I had a bunch of roommates in college! I had to store my tote in my closet so it feels luxurious to finally have my things in the shower and displayed in an aesthetically pleasing way 😊
I buy one bottle of shampoo No conditioner as we all have oily hair We use Norwexs so no soap Men’s shaving cream for legs & pits That’s it Razors we keep in linen closet as the steam in bathrm n esp shower dulls the blades.
I followed your last hack and painted the back of my unused fireplace with black washable paint. It looks SO good! Thank you for that idea! I'd never heard it anywhere else.
I love that you don’t forget about us living in small old spaces with not so modern design aka the 1920s bungalow that doesn’t quite fit modern lifestyles…Ty 😊
This is a well put together video, with lots of products that most people don't know about. Thank you for making people more aware of what is available to make life easier for those who rent!
A great, simple DIY... I had an old dresser that was so bad I couldn't give it away so I took it to the dump... but before that I kept a few of the drawers which were the perfect size to go under my bed. I removed the track on the bottom and that was that. They just slid out (on carpet) from underneath. If you have hard floors attach felt or even little wheels. Paint and fun handles and you saved a ton of money.
I'm moving so down sizing is a must, I was going to do the same thing. I keep dresser drawers to pack stuff too. Easy enough to pick up, not me but a mover, saved me on tubs.. I love youur channel
Seriously, your channel has the most practical and undiscovered renter-friendly DIYs out there. I've watched dozens of channels, hundreds of videos but you always bring great fresh ideas, thank you. 🥰
My favorite alternative lighting -- draping faux trees in our living room and dining room with white Christmas lights. We have a very small dining room and living room and with one lit faux tree on one end and one on the other its the perfect amount of soft light.
I’m still reeling from the idea that museum gel is handy to stop your fragile stuff getting broken in earthquakes. I mean, I’m sure she’s right… But coming from a UK perspective, it just blows my mind that she was so relaxed about frequent earthquakes!
Growing up in California I am very used to it! We get earthquakes constantly. All of Southern California is basically on a fault line, quite scary but what can you do?
I clamp utility lamps all over my apartment. I couldn't get enough light and there wasn't enough floor or surface space to put in a thousand lamps. You can paint them any color, the cord and the metal. They aren't perfect but they're so much better than anything else in this price bracket that can be moved and doesn't take up space (there is nothing else in this price bracket)
I’ve used museum gel for years and it’s the best. It’s also great bc you can dust like a clumsy maniac without things moving. Also also great when you have kids bc they can’t go easily picking up and knocking your delicate decor items over making a parent have to pick between putting delicate items away or continuing to love their kids 😝 Now you can love you kids, dust like a clumsy maniac, AND have your delicate items out! Oh, and I’m VERY specific about certain items NEEDING to face, say, 35° west to look correct on a shelf. (Even though I’m messy af, the thing on the shelf facing wrong will drive me nuts 🤷♀️) Museum gel will lock those items down facing exactly where you want until you intentionally move them. Chefs kiss.
My health took a turn for the worse and when I came out of the hospital I got this company for help cleaning through my doctor OMG 😂 if they dust, every single picture frame is at a 45 degree angle and I feel like I'm on a boat when they leave. The shelves, every single lady that has come lines up everything like a firing squad!!! they even line up my plants! Like little soldiers! And I have these bird sculptures made out of metal, I admit they can look creepy and a sweet bunny that was my mom's. Well one of them vacuumed and placed the bunny in the center of the large birds as if the birds were vultures 😂 it was so funny I left it like that and sent photos to my son and others. But gluing the stuff to the shelves, the thought gives me such pleasure 😂 It takes me the two weeks in between their visits to fix half of what they did 🤣😂😭 I'm an artist so I have lots of framed artwork and never realised how much I placed something just so on a shelf 😖🫣 I would love to see how they decorate their homes 😂
Also helpful when you have pets. My daughter uses it on trinkets displayed on her dresser and bookcases to prevent her cat from knocking them over and breaking them.
You can take the adhesive furniture felt pads, spray a spritz of perfume or drop or two of essential oils and then stick them inside a dresser drawer or closet or bottom of Inside of trash can, etc.
Great ideas! I just bought my first house, and even though I'm not renting anymore, I've really been appreciating your advice because I'm still learning about what I like and how to do DIY-type things. It's nice that so many of your projects are low-commitment and reversible. A great way to build confidence! :)
Wrinkle Release Spray 1 ¾ cup of warm water 1 tablespoon of distilled white vinegar 1 teaspoon of hair conditioner Add the 3 ingredients to a spray bottle and shake well then spray the fabric with the wrinkle releaser, then gently tug your item to help remove the wrinkles or smooth out wrinkles with your hands
Thanks for highlighting different extension cords. I had no idea alternatives even existed, now I know to look for them. I have lived in several very old home and the plug issue is real! An outlet location shouldn't dictate how you use the room or layout your furniture.
These are brilliant, LK. Lots of tips I've never heard before (museum gel, tension rods for the shower) - I will definitely be trying some of these. Thanks so much for sharing xx
Great hacks! When I saw the furniture jack I gasped like I'd seen a pot of gold 😂. I just moved a wardrobe that's in a very tight spot between a wall and a bed and now I can't slide it back to the wall because the carpet prevents it and I can't get leverage. Will get some sliders for sure.
Update - I used some sliders and that sucker moves as if on ice. They are a really ugly colour so I’m going to paint them to blend with the carpet but I’m so happy I can move it now 👏🏻
One thing i learned about hemming curtains is to measure from the top! If you need to shorten 108" curtains to 100", measure 100" from the top in multiple places. The curtains can be different lengths and have crooked bottom edges. So if you try to just shorten 8" from every panel they might not all end up 100” or have straight hems! Or at least do one and test it out, then use that one as a template for the subsequent ones
I love that you puddle your curtains, I think it’s so pretty! I’m re-doing my living room, kitchen and bedroom, so thanks for sharing with us!!! Another great video!!❤❤
I'm gonna have to get some of that museum gel I live in a mobile home and its right by the train tracks so when a train goes by it shakes the whole house sometimes
Thank you for all your great ideas! Lighting is a big issue in my house and I'm looking forward to trying a battery operated lamp and also the bulb you mentioned. I like that you provide links to review items as well. Also, I love your decor suggestions too.
We just got one of those flat wall plugs as a baby proofing back for our daughter’s room. She has so many things to plug in but the plug is right next to her bed. We could put the extension part under her crib where she can’t reach it but still have all the things plugged in within reach for us (camera, white noise machine, humidifier etc).
Our bed is pretty high, and I like to store my shoes under my bed. I did buy the "drawers" on wheels, but I put a more structured bed skirt (the one with pleats) on to cover the storage boxes. I also installed shelves in our guest bath with the sticky tape, and they have been up for almost 2 years! I also used the same concept with a paper towel holder that we installed inside one of our kitchen cabinets, and I am SO thrilled to have them now hidden away, instead of on top of the counter (on a holder!) And, I use fabric spray all the time, so I'll have to look at Grove's version!
I used to be disappointed by most of the gadgets I tried so it took me awhile to buy in again. But I've found so so many things that make my life easier and they're usually very low cost. Like we have over-cupboard-door storage for garbage bags and a hanger for a hand towel. We have the metal shower shelves with the adhesive hangers. I also use knockoff alien tape all over on non porous surfaces. Like i used it to hold the over-cabinet-door towel rod in place. I used it to put up acrylic echo speaker shelves on my cupboard and bathroom mirror. I attach power strips under my end tables and headboard with it, that type of stuff. I put a metal strip on my kitchen cupboards. I use extra strong magnet clips to hold recipes at eye level away from food spatter when I'm cooking. It's also a good spot to hang forms like the registration paper for my vacuum lol. If you don't like the stainless finish of the magnet strip you can paint it or cover it in fancy paper etc. I'm disabled so a lot of basic tasks have been really hard for me and nothing is ever set up in a way that works. Having this kind of stuff has made me be able to take care of myself and my home better
Your bedroom makeover poppied up on my big screen! Totally loved that and subscribed! I follow and watch some home decor channels but honestly they are high design or some of my fav DIY people have gone over to selling products. I do still watch them but I didn't originally because they sell stencils and paints I cant afford to buy. You are my kind of person! I have lived used most of my life and I upcycle sew my clothing and make jean bags and totes. Im 69 now but can always learn from anywone with great ideas! My main issue is pulling things together! Interesting note...when I first started sewing stitch witchery did not have glue on it. It was to encase or strengthen seams. So I search thrift for the old kind!!! Sorry but being a purist sewist I say no glue in sewing. But whatever gets people the dreams they want is ok by me!! 😊 I want to look at all your yard ideas too! Oh Im in Southern Calif too. Grew up in Anaheim OC but retired to inland high desert. Still learning a new plant zone! Super hot in summer and snows a bit in winter!
I like the idea you shared about artwork that doubles as narrow cabinets and actually hides things. Is there a way to turn artwork I already have into something like that? I've got some things I'd like to hide behind the ones I already have.
Great ideas. Re bonus tip: a spray bottle with plain water is all you need to de-wrinkle bedclothes. An extra benefit is that smoothing the lightly dampened surface with your hand effectively gathers up pet hair, too.
Thanks! I’ve used just water before but then it took forever to dry. I think there’s something in the spray that helps it dry faster? Not sure but that’s my experience. I just felt weird about dousing my bed with water too🤷🏼♀️
Great video! Extra fab due to the added smugness when you mention the furniture sliders (for carpet)..I’m a serial furniture move-arounder 😂 and these are a godsend. Also work on my vinyl flooring in my kitchen and bathroom. I’ll also recommend a tension shower basket thingy- mine is OXO goodgrips, I’m in the UK but sure the brand is available internationally? Probably on the more expensive side as these things go but it’s super sturdy and for something that’s basically white plastic and brushed aluminium looks quite smart and fairly easy to clean.
I’ve heard that the wall sensor on the thermostat needs to be open to circulating air. So rather than covering mine, used painters tape to stick on a pretty postcard which was mounted on balsa backer board.
There is also museum putty (same stuff) that’s great to put under things in RVs, etc. Keep in mimd, though, that you wind up dusting around the object vs. moving it.
The only problem with the felt floor protectors is that animal fur gets stuck in the adhesive between the felt and the chair leg, so you wind up with a fur tuft on the foot of every leg. No amount of sweeping or vacuuming removes the fur, so it’s tedious job to get under, let’s say, our dining room table and pull all of that fur off each leg with our fingers.
Love your videos. Genius. This has nothing to do with it but I only have one hack that worked. If you clog your toilet, squirt dish detergent (I use Dawn) on the mess, wait awhile and it will flush right down.
Adding the furniture ‘jack’ to my bday/xmas wish list!. That would come in handy for my quarterly rearranging - i mean refreshing lol. Btw a really inexpensive hack - depending on your style i guess- to hide the under the bed storage is adding a bed skirt. I love the ones that are basically a giant garter around the bed .. no more struggling to lift the mattress & somehow get the skirt underneath without slipping all over ! Love your videos 🫶🏼 i dont rent anymore, but i still dont always like putting holes in my walls ..& running electric is EXPENSIVE! so your tips are always so helpful! ♥️
My partner collects coins and some of the air tight cases were shipped with velvet foam kind of pads with holes punched out to place them in..I think.....He ordered many things. But they also used the circle cout outs from them to throw in like packing pellets. I started saving them all. They are stiff foam covered with velvet type material. Free furniture pads. If you know anyone that really into coin world ask them for them. Yes. We lost a few pieces in a huge of very vintage dishes in an earthquake up here. It was 7.2 and we were not the close epicenter!. Everything has museum putty on it now!
Brainstorming on flat plug. The end with the plug-ins: use a command strip along the side edge of the plugs to stick the plugs sideways onto the nightstand or wall near the edge of the nightstand... It'll stick out only slightly more than baseboard but allow standard plugs to be plugged in sideways behind the edge, so the cords come out but you still won't see the plugs and the cords won't be bent/crimped at all
I know landlords say this to tenants all the time, but I do it anyways. Its so easy to repair a wall and at least in California, renters have so many rights -- so as long as I restore the place back to how I found it and get my walkthrough with the property manager 30 days prior to move out, I can get my deposit back. I've rented my whole life with terrible landlords and have never had issues with putting stuff on walls.
Not at all! I wouldn’t use them or promote how helpful they are if they caused issues. I have used them many times on these floors. My only recommendation as I said was to make sure your floors are clean. Dragging a pebble for example could scratch the floors. But that can happen with anything.
They do annual inspections of your apartment and if they see that you broke the rules, you will lose your security deposit! Beware is it worth it in a rental property?
In the state of CA at least, I have denied all annual inspections. It’s against the law for them to check up on you unless there are extenuating circumstances. Additionally, if they needed to come over and saw that I drilled in the wall or painted - it wouldn’t matter because in the state of California, I am required to have a walk through inspection at the time of move out and if everything has been restored to the way it was when I moved in and everything is operational, then I get my security deposit back. Additionally per the law, they have to tell me if there’s any reason they will deduct from my deposit and give me 30 days to restore it before moving out. There are many rights for renters here and I’m not afraid of property managers who get mad if I make the place look nicer than it did before. I always get my deposit back. So yes it’s worth it!
Thank you for keeping me company as I write out postcards to remind people to vote on Nov 5th (possibly encouraging them to vote for the future & Harris) so thank you for the information and the company! Many hugs, Z. Allora
The rechargeable ones are garbage. They die after a couple weeks even if not being used. Then you have to plug them in again, and they never are charged when you want them to work. Never again. Only battery charged ones for me from now on.
Check out Part 1 here!: th-cam.com/video/xi2gIbIxsu8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pO7Z5w7KlRDbSYIx&list=UULFdTBkEPM3uhN2bC8QZkXySw

Great idea!
So impractical
I buy one bottle of shampoo
No conditioner as we all have oily hair
We use Norwexs so no soap
Men’s shaving cream for legs & pits
That’s it
Razors we keep in linen closet as the steam in bathrm n esp shower dulls the blades.
@SockGrlz it's an MLM company, smartest to stay away from it.
I followed your last hack and painted the back of my unused fireplace with black washable paint. It looks SO good! Thank you for that idea! I'd never heard it anywhere else.
omg love it!! that's awesome : )
Black washable paint ?!! I need to check this out.😊
I love that you don’t forget about us living in small old spaces with not so modern design aka the 1920s bungalow that doesn’t quite fit modern lifestyles…Ty 😊
This is a well put together video, with lots of products that most people don't know about. Thank you for making people more aware of what is available to make life easier for those who rent!

I thought of & did this too with a couple of drawers recently; such a good hack :)
very cool! such a great idea :)
I did this with casters for rolling on wooden floorboards. It’s worked so well for years :-)
LOVE your hacks and your articulate delivery, but PLEASE cut back on use of the word "like."
I'm moving so down sizing is a must, I was going to do the same thing. I keep dresser drawers to pack stuff too. Easy enough to pick up, not me but a mover, saved me on tubs.. I love youur channel

Wow, thank you!
My favorite alternative lighting -- draping faux trees in our living room and dining room with white Christmas lights. We have a very small dining room and living room and with one lit faux tree on one end and one on the other its the perfect amount of soft light.
ambiance!
After being a homeowner for about 35 yrs, I'm renting again. Your videos and hacks are excellent! Thank you so much.
yay you are so welcome!
Also also great when you have kids bc they can’t go easily picking up and knocking your delicate decor items over making a parent have to pick between putting delicate items away or continuing to love their kids 😝
Now you can love you kids, dust like a clumsy maniac, AND have your delicate items out!
Chefs kiss.
haha a dusting maniac is so funny!
But gluing the stuff to the shelves, the thought gives me such pleasure 😂
It takes me the two weeks in between their visits to fix half of what they did 🤣😂😭 I'm an artist so I have lots of framed artwork and never realised how much I placed something just so on a shelf 😖🫣 I would love to see how they decorate their homes 😂
Also helpful when you have pets. My daughter uses it on trinkets displayed on her dresser and bookcases to prevent her cat from knocking them over and breaking them.
It’s so refreshing to see new things, not the same recycled ideas over and over. Appreciate the helpfulness! ☺️
You can take the adhesive furniture felt pads, spray a spritz of perfume or drop or two of essential oils and then stick them inside a dresser drawer or closet or bottom of Inside of trash can, etc.
Cute idea!
New unwrapped spearmint chewing gum in drawers works great in drawers for smelly musty dressers
Interesting!
Great ideas! I just bought my first house, and even though I'm not renting anymore, I've really been appreciating your advice because I'm still learning about what I like and how to do DIY-type things. It's nice that so many of your projects are low-commitment and reversible. A great way to build confidence! :)
Congrats on your first house!! Thanks so much I’m so glad you’re enjoying the content! :)
Enjoyed how these weren't super well known solutions, came away with some solid ideas, thanks!
Love it!!
Easy hack to keep appliances neater. Use hair ties to keep cords neat. Great for tongs too!
Wrinkle Release Spray
1 ¾ cup of warm water
1 tablespoon of distilled white vinegar
1 teaspoon of hair conditioner
Add the 3 ingredients to a spray bottle and shake well then spray the fabric with the wrinkle releaser, then gently tug your item to help remove the wrinkles or smooth out wrinkles with your hands
Thanks for sharing!
You can replace that white vinegar with Apple Cider vinegar (I use the one w/mother) and you have a great hair detangler!!
Really great advice! And thank you for going beyond the usual tips that one already sees everywhere.
yay i’m glad you enjoyed this!!
Thanks for highlighting different extension cords. I had no idea alternatives even existed, now I know to look for them. I have lived in several very old home and the plug issue is real! An outlet location shouldn't dictate how you use the room or layout your furniture.
Right!! No problem at all : ) I hope it helps!
These ideas are phenomenal! I want to live with less stress and this video gave me direction. Waited a long time for this !!!
11:28 Museum Gel is also very good preventing kitty knocking over stuff.
As a cat owner , that's exactly why I would get it.
😹
These are brilliant, LK. Lots of tips I've never heard before (museum gel, tension rods for the shower) - I will definitely be trying some of these. Thanks so much for sharing xx
of course!!
I love your videos. I’ve been so lost. These are such good tips.

omg yes! that sounds like something that would happen to me 😂 the jack is adjustable and it’s so helpful!
Update - I used some sliders and that sucker moves as if on ice. They are a really ugly colour so I’m going to paint them to blend with the carpet but I’m so happy I can move it now 👏🏻
I need this for a HUGE china cabinet@@sarahb3606

of course and thank you! I honestly can’t say enough good things about battery powered lights!
I’d love to try one. Mr. Amazon, here I come. Also like the idea of elf powering bulbs. Have never seen one.
We just got one of those flat wall plugs as a baby proofing back for our daughter’s room. She has so many things to plug in but the plug is right next to her bed. The battery operated light bulbs are just what I need!!! Thank you for your fabulous ideas on decor and saving money❤❤❤
Museum putty is the silly putty type version of the gel (I’ve used it for years to secure items).
Great tips! ❤
Watching your videos is my self-care, LK! Love your work
So many of these ideas would work in our home. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. So very helpful! ❤

These tips are elite. I find that most home hacks don't really work for renters.
Gel?! I’m still using museum putty😂
Gel would be a lot better ❤
Ty!
Dude that sconce is wicked! Thanks for sharing!!!
of course!

Lamps with outlets/USB plugs was what I winded up with for my rechargeable techs.
Great hacks! Speaking of windows ..I've got a tiny kitchen/living room space and wanted to differentiate but don't know if it's working
Absolutely obsessed ❤️
There is also museum putty (same stuff) that’s great to put under things in RVs, etc.
Keep in mimd, though, that you wind up dusting around the object vs. moving it.
Great fabulous tips!
Love your style and… such awesome tips!👏
Happy Sunday beautiful lady 💗 awesome products thank you so much have a awesome weekend 💜🌈🦋
aw thanks so much! have a fantastic sunday! 😊
Great ideas, products I didn't even think to look for
Really great and useful hacks.
OMG. I can’t believe the price of those “Poplights”. You should mention that they are not affordable for most people who rent. 😮😮😮
COOL STUFF! Thank you❤
I have those baskets in my shower, and those stickers are crazy sticky!
awesome vlog ty have a great day
Thanks for watching!
Where do you get museum gel? First time I've heard of it!
check the link in the description!
Thank you so much. So useful. Very impressed and appreciative.
Wow, great hacks here. Thanks for sharing.
Any tips on hiding furnaces? Thank you! Love you vids! Just subscribed :)
I actually mentioned this in part 1!
Great ideas! Can you link your microphone please? 😉
Thanks! Sure its the dji mic 2! amzn.to/3ZIpabE
Is the over the door thing really thin but strong over the door? I’ve got a tight fitting door.
NOT JUST FOR RENTERS❣️
Not at all!
Love your videos. Genius. This has nothing to do with it but I only have one hack that worked. If you clog your toilet, squirt dish detergent (I use Dawn) on the mess, wait awhile and it will flush right down.
I have had those tension rod, nice but they don't last as long due to always being wet. Liz
Interesting! I haven't had an issue yet
Don’t daisy chain extension cords together! It is a major fire hazard!!
You should only ever use one extension cord / power strip per plug
Correct!

all good tips. Especially like the hidden art.
It might be my fave!
Excellent video!
aw thanks so much! the furniture jack is a lifesaver!
Discreet (subtle, not drawing attention)
Discrete (separate, isolated)
You should not cover your thermostat because it can prevent it from reading the temperature of the room accurately.
That's so interesting!
The tips regarding the curtains will probably actually be helpful for when I move in my first own space very soon.
Yay that’s awesome!! Glad it was helpful :)
Brainstorming on flat plug. The end with the plug-ins: use a command strip along the side edge of the plugs to stick the plugs sideways onto the nightstand or wall near the edge of the nightstand... It'll stick out only slightly more than baseboard but allow standard plugs to be plugged in sideways behind the edge, so the cords come out but you still won't see the plugs and the cords won't be bent/crimped at all
We are not allowed to put holes in the wall or use Canandaigua hooks/ strips.
@livingwithlk Thank you!
@livingwithlk I love your videos 💜
thank you!
Great video. Regarding folded TP: I'm not a fan. Seems pretentious! 😂
folded TP?
It would be nice to see all the products a bit more
I left links in the description for ya!
Don't the caster wheels mark up the floor on those dollys for the furniture? It looks like a big drawback for wood floors like that.
Not at all! I wouldn’t use them or promote how helpful they are if they caused issues. I have used them many times on these floors. My only recommendation as I said was to make sure your floors are clean. Dragging a pebble for example could scratch the floors. But that can happen with anything.
The felt Furniture pads fall off when it gets hot and the glue lets loose
Indiscreet…no, discrete. No, it’s „ Discreet.“
😂. Those underbed zippered cases can be hidden with a tailored or ruffled dust ruffle, too.
so much more relatable than the winkler girl
LK, my fiance and I love your videos! We are queer and have similar taste as you and your partner. Thank you so much for posting such awesome ideas!!!
hii! thanks so much! i appreciate you!
I have the flat extension cord EVERYWHERE.
it’s so helpful!!
Lots of great ideas and much appreciated. BUT I found myself starting to count the number of times you say "like" and "elevated"! Distracting! Hugs xx
Whatever floats your boat! 😂
I think you need a receptacle cover
What do you mean?
👍
Thank you for keeping me company as I write out postcards to remind people to vote on Nov 5th (possibly encouraging them to vote for the future & Harris) so thank you for the information and the company!
Many hugs, Z. Allora
Aw I love that! So cool : )
Harris will take you straight into slavery
Your ideas are OK, but where do we find these things????
as I mentioned I linked everything in the description
💕
❤❤❤😊
The rechargeable ones are garbage. They die after a couple weeks even if not being used. Then you have to plug them in again, and they never are charged when you want them to work. Never again. Only battery charged ones for me from now on.
