OMG, this is Morgan and you selected my room, thank you so much LK. I love your suggestions. I actually started working on this room. I painted the fireplace black, painted the nook that leads to the dining room burgundy and we have built bookcases on either side of the window rather than on the doorway wall. I am hoping to finish things up here soon and I would love to share with you the finished room. Many of the suggestions you gave I am implementing!
Wow, I could always tell you were talented, but now seeing your range, I am amazed! Yes, do more of these please, very entertaining and you can help people get 'unstuck' with their decorating dilemmas. This was such a nice surprise to find, and great job!
The last one was amazing and such great creative ideas! I remember those monster builder grade units. I never had one, but even back in the day I thought it wasn't a good idea, but you absolutely transformed it.
Great ideas LK. Do any of the people whose rooms you feature let you know if they followed your advice? And if so, do they/would they share what the rooms looks like after? Would be lovely to see them 🤎
I love this series! I think it’s also be cool if you made another chapter break and reshared all the before and afters at the end of the video. This is bc I listened to it (and look periodically) while I was working on my home projects today. Thanks for sharing!
@@livingwithlk Yes, they are not inexpensive. They are durable. We still have some which were in the kitchen of our first house in 2000. Now they are in the laundry room, 2 houses later.
Many people would kill to have an architectural feature like that arched built-in. The problem, it seems to me, is that the openings are so damn deep. I would make cardboard boxes the exact size of the openings to slide in and fill out the space in the back-cover them with peel-and-stick paper of your choice. This would provide a more normal-looking bookcase effect, especially if openings were divided with shelves as LK suggests. But-I would use glass shelves with a single light at the top to shine through-very sophisticated. Might seem like you’re wasting space with the box fillers, but if you can’t work with the space anyway-no loss.
That "credenza" that you showed first is a heavy pine colonial dresser, sans mirror. My parents jumped from Danish Moderne LR to faux Spanish Mission bedroom, very popular in the 60s and 70s. Think of a heavily carved wooden Mission door, the carving replicated in extruded styrene - a plasticky faux wood that fooled many. Spanish / Mission and Early American (colonial) were quite popular, either available in a dark brown stain. They came with a landscape mirror and a gentleman's armoire or highboy, as well as matching nightstands. I saw them in many of the homes where I babysat, throughout our housing development. Meanwhile, there were avocado green or harvest gold glass tumblers in the kitchen cupboards, and maybe (still) a flamboyantly shaped and colored piece of art glass on the coffee table - if not, a heavy colored glass ashtray (loaded). I cringe to see any of it back in style - except the art glass - which will always be fabulous. (The giant glass grapes and wax fruit have seen better days.) We sat in these rooms and dreamed of future home interiors (probably space-aged - and located on the moon - where we'd smoke cigarettes and drink diet Tab), never imagining someone might one day dream of re-conjuring the very space where we sat! 🤣❤️🤪🥰🥵🥸
This was fun. Your ideas seem accessible. I like the dark paint on the ceilings of the office. I would skip that wallpaper. For the last one I’d be excited to tackle it, too. I’d paint the bottom doors to match the rest of the bookshelf to take a hard turn away from the wood. I do thinks I’d put wood items here and there. Ironically I’ve seen many people trying to get the look of those shelves.
LK, you are sooo talented. I wish I could hijack you for an afternoon! Number one, I just think you are cool and would be fun to hang out with, but number two, I would just like to have you help me with some design ideas. I generally don’t have many problems with design (I’m usually pretty happy with how I decorate), but I feel like I’m currently in a rut and would just love some help.
The problem with the grottoes is SCALE! So many tiny little things in these spaces meant for large sculptural objects. Also, large stereo components might fit well here. The Tudor room already has a beautiful style - WORK WITH IT - rather than attempting to cover it up. An Arts & Crafts motif provides a great variety of styles to work with. Light walls - single color from top to bottom. Pale sheers at the windows blend with the wall color. A contrasting-toned sofa, vibrant floral over the fireplace. Keep the light ceiling. Reorient the partners' desk, so nobody's back is to the door. Add comfortable fabric-upholstered desk chairs and a paisley or oriental area rug. Add cabinetry along the wall to accommodate files, equipment, etc.
You had me with Morgan's room until you got to that black and chrome chair. It stands out like a sore thumb and, IMO, makes the room feel hodge-podge; as if one ran out of money before the desk chair was sourced. That specific Lauren aesthetic (plaid, equestrian touches, rich colors, etc.) is high-end, so the desk chair shouldn't look like an after-thought.

omg amazing!! i can’t wait to see!
Me too. I want to see the changes. Perhaps you could do a follow up video to see the changes.
I hope you painted the lower trim near floor to match the added trim at top of walls.
Awesome suggestions!! ❤
Thats a massive room for an office. Love Morgans house😊

Great ideas, love the shelf ideas, great job …😊
I love the builtin book shelf
Great ideas LK. Do any of the people whose rooms you feature let you know if they followed your advice? And if so, do they/would they share what the rooms looks like after? Would be lovely to see them 🤎
They are more than encouraged to send me their updates! Happy to share if they want : ) I know Morgan commented here and said we might get an update!
@livingwithlk I just saw that! The changes sound great, so hopefully we will see it now. 🤎
I loved the burgandy ceiling for the office.

You are SO good at this! I’m an old interior decorator who loves watching your vids! Keep up the good work.
Love these ideas.
Loved the video 😘👍🏻💕💕🙏🏻🙏🏻
Wonderful ideas!
I love how lexis room turned out!
yay! its very much out of my "personal" style but I can envision it being super cute and eclectic!
Have you used Flor tiles? Great way to make a rug of any size, extremely durable and sustainable.
Ah ya I’ve actually looked into these! I’ve been wanting to try them but don’t want to commit financially until I really “need” them you know?
@@livingwithlk Yes, they are not inexpensive. They are durable. We still have some which were in the kitchen of our first house in 2000. Now they are in the laundry room, 2 houses later.
I think I would paint the front of the bookshelf as well.
Yes! I think that would totally work!
Great video!

I really like your ideas!....😊
Instead of the chrome chair, I would get a nice wingback chair and put it on the other side of the desk facing forward.
not my style but it could work!

I would turn desk so one person has window view and other has fireplace view. Person with back to the door...bad feng shui.
Yes either orientation would make sense! I like the perpendicular shape of the desk to the sofa/daybed
Where were you when I was young?
🤎
#1- great look. #2- NO! #3- 😦 #4- looks great.

haha I have to disagree! But that’s just me.
Not a fan of dark ceilings. Makes the room seem closed in.
