    Doug! best video on TH-cam to me that breaks down the MBP. I just got one a few months back and you really helped me understand how I want to use it in my flow. The box is to beast to me :) I am still learning to master all what it can do this video really helps.

    Just took the plunge and purchased the new black faced one. Arrived in 2 days. Took a great deal of thought as it is expensive. I have heard that the compressor is weak so glad to hear you say the same. They say the limiter and SPE are what make it special. This is my first Rupert device. Glad to hear you love it your opinion is always appreciated

    This is really an all in 1 mastering box like the ssl fusion is and it's so ridiculously versatile. I always believed this unit to be so underrated. But the MBP is a winner if you know what you're really doing and how to use it💯

    I was listening to what you were saying about the feed forward and feedback styles and i think you may have them backwards. Feed forward, as i understand it, is a more "modern" style of compression...Think SSL Buss Comp. Where feedback is a more "vintage" style of compression. Think Fairchild. With all of that said I may be completely wrong , you may hear feedback as modern because of the way you use it. Anyway just an observation. I would love to get one of these MBP's. I finally was able to get a RND Shelford and love it! Thank you for taking the time to show this thing off...RND gear is so great!

    If you want to effect multiple frequencies in the mid and sides do you need multiple Ruperts?

  • @KyleMechlinskiTV
    @KyleMechlinskiTV 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    how can you control the middle and the sides, and do the mid and width eq at the same time or do you need two boards, or you have to reprint and run it back through?

    Would the Portico II be good for live vocals? I’m really interested in it for voice overs/streaming/a bit of voice acting. I’ll use it for post as far as guitar and vocals go, but I’m trying to add to my arsenal!

    • @DougJenkins

  • @cali3168

    Hey Doug, so is it possible (with SFE to Comp engaged) to process M/S with the Silk knob independently? Can you apply the blue Silk to just the mids (with Channel A) and the red Silk to the highs (Channel B)?? if that's possible (and I don't see why not), you just blew my mind. I've been trying to wrap my head around what exactly SFE to Comp was doing and you made it super easy to understand. Many thanks, subbed.

    • @DougJenkins

      Not over it, all these have a unique contribution to the audio. The ssl has a image on ssl can attain, the portico 2 bus is a useful swiss army knife for the master bus. Where the portico channels give you detailed 4 band eq, a line amp, and a very incredible de-esser. If you want something safe to put on your final bus, definitely recommend the portico mbp. it's a matched left right piece with a lot of feel. super incredible
