My nephew was 18 years old when he was sent to Afghanistan. He was a funny, fun loving kid until he came back. He was forced to kill 4 people over there one of them was a young kid. When my nephew came home he had severe ptsd. He became an alcoholic and drug addict. He was no longer the funny kid we all knew and loved. One night my brother found my nephew lying in the doorway to their house. He had overdosed and was dyibg. My brother called 911 and did what he could till help arrived. He told the EMTs that my nephew is a veteran and made sure they treated him with the utmost respect. My nephew lived, thank God. And years later he is doing way better. He's married now and they just had a baby. I want to say Thank you to Jonathan Fritz my nephew for his service. I love you and I'm so very proud of you. And to all our service men and women, Thank You for your sacrifice. With all my heart I am proud of you and love you. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😊

Thanks, really. I got left behind in a hangar during a rocket attack in Taji in early '04.... that hurt me for so long, and I'm still embarrassed to this day because we've been through so much my battle buddies and I, but that affected me more than anything else and nobody really understands that beyond death and whatever else went on what it was like to be abandoned within the first days I was in combat...I walked back through the rocket fire with no regard. Since that day I've never felt anything but alone

I am a 100% disabled veteran from Desert Storm but my two oldest sons who served during the Afghanistan and Iraqi conflicts both ended up with more severe PTSD issues and emotional struggles as a result of the things they saw and did. This song and video are very well done and bring out the importance of the continued need to support all the veterans who are suffering, and usually silently, to deal with their lives after serving in a long conflict which can leave them with emotions and issues they frequently don't even realize are continuing to hurt them every day.

True story: I met a gentleman, about my age (mid sixties- Vietnam Era), at the NASCAR race at Watkins Glen on 06-AUG-2016. He was wearing a baseball cap with, "Disabled American Veteran Chapter 7."
I reached out to shake his hand and said to him, "Thank you for your service and welcome home brother." He turned and said, "I'm not home yet. Only about 40%" He then put his hand up to his mouth as to shield everyone from what he was going to say and said, "And it's not physical, if you know what I mean." I told him, "I completely understand and good luck with your healing."
What else could I say? He caught me completely off guard but I was very impressed with his honesty and willingness to share his story.

Welcome home , Home of the free because of the brave. I grew up as a navy brat father was 42 year submariner
Grew up around military bases and military people most of my life .after 42 years active duty my father was a recruiter we always had young men far from home that my folks would bring home to have BBQ swim get togethers because he knew what it was like to be so far from family when he was on tour.so now
We do donations drives every few months getting stuff together for homeless vets living on the streets here in Georgia breaks my heart no one that serves should be treated that way I know for some it’s there choice because of PTSD they don’t feel like can live normal life but gust sitting and talking with them helps I believe I get more out it then they do just to take the time to listen or show that you truly care means a lot to them.
These two young men are what true hero’s are after all been through still see life is still great

When you go out to eat let him sit on the side of the booth that gives him sight of the door. The soldiers don’t like anyone coming up from behind. They also want complete control over the situation if someone comes in and wants to rob the place or cause trouble.

I was living in the US studying in college during desert storm and i remember seeing American flags flown in front every single house and building no matter what neighbourhood it was, rich poor middle class everyone flew that flag and it really struck me because i never realized just how patriotic americans are and how much they love their country. You guys i have to say r a pretty awesome bunch of ppl and thank u for making my time in the US some of the best years of my life. It does not matter whos side anybody is on anymore we are all dealing with loss of human life and then there r those they left behind that r greiving and mourning for the ones they lost please accept my deepest condolences on both sides of every single war taking place in this world as we speak. Love from the West Indies.

You know what, I'd like a shout out to the other heros, those wives and girlfriends, who waited, supported and then welcomed home strangers, who put up with the nightmares and outbursts, wiping tears and arses and are forever holding us together for fear of what we'd do if left alone. They went the distance, walked beside every one of us and . Hell, you know what I mean, my woman is my Rock. without her there would be no me. Thank you all. xxx

Thank you from a career marine's son. My mother and I shared many sleepless nights, and I still remember dreading hearing the phone ring, in the middle of the night, and having to wonder what was going to happen, each time some Tim pot dictator would get uppity, half way around the world. I remember seeing names I knew, of marines dad served with, on the list if the dead, when the embassy was bombed in Beirut. Men and women forever changes, after returning home, from combat, fighting to hold it together, with friends, comrades, and family, standing by them.
To many of us, that's just part is the deal. Dad had a job to do, and it was ours to be there for him, and the extended family, you gain when you,.or a family member, serves.

God truly blessed America when he gave us men like these who are willing to lose their life for people who don't even appreciate theirs. My dad is a veteran, 1st division Infantry when he was medically retired. My brother was active duty reserves when he finished his term. I may not always like the President and what they're doing, not getting into politics people, that kills sometimes. But I will never stop loving the soldiers who are active, soldiers who are retired in any way, and the soldiers who died for the land they love.

Perfect. I wish that all could forget what they had to see, experience, lose, and do in the wars that men can never seem to stop coming. Despite all of the pain in known history that is tied to war, we still start them or join them. And our men, our boys, and now our women and our girls, too, go do what they believe in. They make a choice to leave and never return again... literally or figuratively. Sacrifice. Thankfully most seem to have personal reasons to serve, why they fight, and they stand by their decisions... sadly, many lose their reasons to serve a nation that often lets them down, thankless, alone, broken.
I have seen these things in the eyes of grandfathers, uncles and two fathers. If it had not been for a surgical procedure, I would have had to see it in my youngest daughter's eyes. All she wanted since she was nine years old was to go into the Navy. Plans and goals. I currently have a niece (We love you, Jessica S.) in the Air Force, and my friend's daughter (We love you, too, Christy P.) in the Navy. I want them to come home with the light still dancing in their eyes. I want them home whole. I want everyone to come home alive and whole.
Without the courage of those who go and do what others turn their noses up to, you better start learning a few new languages that will inevitably become your new native tongue. There have been wars fought by such men and women that you do not have appreciation for, where the line between what could have been and what is, was so thin you can't imagine it. You owe them all for every right that you have-- like it or not. You would not have the right to an opinion, let alone a voice to object, if not for those who too many people have no respect or understanding for. Thank them. You owe them that much. We all owe them more.
Thank you for everyone who has served, in *_any_* capacity, in *_any_* branch, in peace time or time of war, from the beginning of this country that we love, The United States of America. We are far from perfect. A lot is broken and needs to be worked on just to heal. But we will love and endure together, if only we will *_let it happen, be a part of it, start the process!_* Past, present, and future, we owe it to every man, woman, or even child who has served, and especially those who have had to pay high prices-- or the ultimate one-- for so little or no thanks or appreciation. Let's change that. We are the USA! ~Peace!
