Awhile back TH-cam chose to include my video in one of their mixes. I am humbled, and grateful. I consider this "an amazing compliment" to the heart and hard work that went in to 'Soldier's Light' and as an unknown artist. I showed my daughter this song before I left my fourth and final deployment. And told her that the light right by the front door inside will always stay on until I come home. I ended up surprising her. She came home from school and saw that the light was off and she turned it on. And I came around the corner and said hey you better leave that light off I’m home already. And she went into tears and jumped into my arms. Thank you for such a beautiful soul and giving my daughter. Hope that I always come home.
Rylee, Although it looks like this has been out for a while, I just found it and wanted to say thank you, it touched me deeply and this Veterans day I will make sure it is part of my annual salute to my friends and those who served. Today is the 1st time I've heard this song. Rylee you have moved me to tears, it blows me away a young lady your age has this kind of compassion for our troops and the brothers we lost. While bringing back some pretty painful memories it is comforting knowing we are not forgotten. Many of us live everyday with much pain long after the battle field has fallen silent. The Veterans Creed I am a veteran I have seen and done things that many will not understand I am a warrior A member of a team spanning the world. I lost my son 6 years ago, 1/7/2013. He was active duty Navy and he died in an accident 2 days before his 2nd deployment. He was a good man and son. I miss him so much. He was the kind of guy that would help people be it a friend, family, or stranger. He was the tip of the sword and loved his country.

@@kkann9327 I am sorry about your sister and your bf. No there aren't many people to talk to about death. Unless someone goes through it they don't understand it. Did your bf die too? Fortunately not many people lose a child. Think about this, my wife said this to me for a speech I did at a gold star event last spring. She said "when you lose a family member life will never be the same, life will be different. Without our loved one we will have to learn to live life in a different way. We will walk forward in life despite carrying the heartache of losing our loved on". Loosing our son was the last thing I ever expected children aren't supposed to die before their parents. I came across this song today and it brings me to tears. It reminds me of my Marines friend/brother Cpl Rodd who passed away July 30, 2020 during a training exercise when the amphibious vehicle sank with him and 6 other Marines and 1 Sailor still inside. My Marine son called to let me know he was okay, Incase I had heard about the accident. I could hear in his voice that something was wrong. He proceeded to tell me about the accident and that one of his good friends was one of the Marines who went down with the amphibious vehicle. My heart broke for all the families who got that dreaded knock on the door that every military family fears. But it broke my heart even more when my Marine told me Cpl Rodd had a newborn son that will never know his daddy. I wanted to bust out in tears but I knew I had to be strong for my son who was hurting. As a mom you want to take that pain away but you learn being a military mom especially a Marine mom that all you can do is listen and be there for them day or night. There’s not a day that goes by that my Marine doesn’t think about his friend, his friends newborn son and the brothers he lost that day. Semper fi marine and I have helped lay military service members to rest im hs army jrotc cadet Anthony Bradford private first class with the third battalion I have flown to military bases it was a project my hs jrotc class was doing they allowed us to enter and we spoke with some service members

There aren't too many things in this world that can move me to tears. The birth of my daughter definite tear jerker moment. Burying soldiers I served with. I can watch soldier family reunions all day long and be reduced to just an emotional pile skin. From the bottom of this old Army dogs heart and soul Rylee, absolutely beautiful song. Laura Armand A song like this brings the emotions and memories rushing to the front of your brain like a bullet train no matter how hard you try block it. For a long period of time I refused to talk about things because if I didn't talk about it then I could pretend things didn't happen, if that makes any sense to you. It wasn't until a buddy of mine killed himself and I was tooling around TH-cam for a song to dedicate at his memorial and I stumbled across this song. I just couldn't stop the tears.
Oh my heck! I have passed this video over several times??? I have 2 boys serving now. 5th generation to serve. Both are married and out of the house and I still leave the porch light on when they are deployed. What a touching beautiful song!

I served in desert Storm and three deployments after 9/11. The tributes need to go to the families that waited and wondered while we were gone, our spouses that kept things going at home, and the children that only got a phone call once in a while, that were six months when we left and a year and a half when we got back, wondering who we were.

You know when I listen to these songs and watch these videos it's me deep cuz my father was a Vietnam vet that's why I leave the comments that I leave cuz my father got spat on he never got thanked and I don't think any veteran should ever go through that these men and women put their life on the line for us so we can sit here and be free I wish I did serve I never had the opportunity if it wasn't for these men and women I wouldn't have the freedoms that I have and that's why I consider all servicemen and women that have put their backsides on the line for us as family and every time I watch these videos any of them it hits me right in the heart my father put his butt on the line my cousin put his butt on the line my uncle put his butt on the line my other cousin she put her butt on the line and I respect them for their decision you know a lot of our servicemen and women do not consider themselves as Heroes because they're just doing a job as they say but you know something in my eyes always be my heroes and that's why every time I walk by somebody Toots and uniform or I can tell is a vet I shake their hand and I say thank you it's the least I can do the owner sacrifice that has been made and I know there's no way any of us can actually understand totally about their sacrifice God bless you all

I grew up an Army Brat, both parents served and retired from the Army. They missed many things I did through out my High School years. I went into the Army 2 days after High school graduation. I missed both parents passing on and only made it back to my Dad's funeral. My sweetheart broke-up with me because I entered into the Army. I don't regret serving 35 years as an enlisted and officer. I just missed a lot.

Thank you for your service, I ended up getting out of the military 100% disabled after 3 years of serving so I can raise our daughter while my husband serves, he’s been in for almost 8 years and he sacrifices so much for us to be able to provide for us. It’s definitely hard some days but I’m grateful for the military service members that have served and are currently serving.

Nine years in the Army. PTSD and a few other acronyms. I sit here teetering everyday. It's pretty rough. My daughter is the only reason I haven't checked out yet. And then I see this. Now, again, I am thinking of how many other daughters grow up with this truth. I think of how many other soldiers didn't have a choice to stay. This hurts so deep.
Take it from a vet and a Christian who was in it more than 50 years ago - you can slog through! Believe in your kid and believe in yourself. Nobody says it's easy, but it's worth it!
Hang in there my friend. I'm not as bad as you but I struggle with some of those alphabets myself and my kids and especially my wife are my rocks. I've had PTSD since the early 80's. It's a hard rode we travel but you can get through it. You are not alone. I'm here for you.
I'm using my son's account. My dad never made it home. I can never ever hug him again.. Every time I hear the pledge of allegiance or sing an anthem or see a picture of him no matter how many years have gone by do I not think about him. Even though I was 4 when he died not a time goes by that I don't remember the steps I took going to his funeral in the mountains and the things I saw and heard are as clear today as they were back in the 60's. When people die it is not just them that dies...it's their wife, kids, parents tears never dry up hurt never goes away. Please let my dad rest on your shoulders and let him help to keep you strong so that you will never do anything to yourself to not be there for others. Because you will always be a soldier that is still there to help your kid and other kids and the people your kids can help because you made it. STAY STRONG AND BRAVE DEAR SOLDIER. I'm glad you got to stay.

If someone signed that paper and offered up to and including his life for his country, he's a hero. The hero's that have the humility that your son is showing are even bigger heroes. Tell him that one college kid who doesn't know him says he's a hero cause he served his country.

I can remember when I was 5 years old, and told my mom “I want to join the military”. Now, I’m of age to pursue my dream. How excited, pumped, and motivated to get this opportunity.
You go to MCRD in San Diego right next to the airport for receiving and then for most of your training, it’s not on Pendleton. You will go up to Pendleton for like a month for some field training, the rifle range, then to do the Crucible, then it’s back to MCRD for the last two weeks.
My husband is veteran his mom is evilness of destroying our family happy loving home my health risk my heart and our daughter her health have anemia and my husband health from work lose more of brother's in fighting in war front his face lose his nephew than evil mother destroying him more putting me twice in jail his mother is killing me and her dad her real suffering our health problems
Reading these comments and listening to the song gave me hope because I was in the Marine special Forces or M.A.R.S.O.C. and I lost my brother when he had turned 19 so thank you to all who support vets like me and most importantly thank you Riley

I'm a retired military man after 22 years of service. Being out there is hard, but I had a strong wife back home that kept the kids safe and left the light on for me. When we come back, we bring "baggage" and having someone at home that doesn't ask questions, doesn't care what happened, and is only happy you have come home is the best healing magic you can hope for. That song spoke volumes about the brave men and women not on the battle lines, but still battling back at home for us to have a place to come back to. Well done!
As a Navy and Air Force Veteran, I was deployed from October 2021 until February 2022 and I missed a lot of my daughters first things. It sucks to miss things but when you sign on that dotted line, you have to go where you are needed.

I also love how in the beginning of the video she came a stood beside the kneeling soldier and put her hand on his soldier, I found that very touching.

I showed my daughter this song before I left my fourth and final deployment. And told her that the light right by the front door inside will always stay on until I come home. I ended up surprising her. She came home from school and saw that the light was off and she turned it on. And I came around the corner and said hey you better leave that light off I’m home already. And she went into tears and jumped into my arms. Thank you for such a beautiful soul and giving my daughter. Hope that I always come home.

I lost my son 6 years ago, 1/7/2013. He was active duty Navy and he died in an accident 2 days before his 2nd deployment. He was a good man and son. I miss him so much. Fortunately not many people lose a child. Think about this, my wife said this to me for a speech I did at a gold star event last spring. She said "when you lose a family member life will never be the same, life will be different. Without our loved one we will have to learn to live life in a different way. We will walk forward in life despite carrying the heartache of losing our loved on". Loosing our son was the last thing I ever expected children aren't supposed to die before their parents. I came across this song today and it brings me to tears. It reminds me of my Marines friend/brother Cpl Rodd who passed away July 30, 2020 during a training exercise when the amphibious vehicle sank with him and 6 other Marines and 1 Sailor still inside. My Marine son called to let me know he was okay, Incase I had heard about the accident. I could hear in his voice that something was wrong. He proceeded to tell me about the accident and that one of his good friends was one of the Marines who went down with the amphibious vehicle. My heart broke for all the families who got that dreaded knock on the door that every military family fears. But it broke my heart even more when my Marine told me Cpl Rodd had a newborn son that will never know his daddy. I wanted to bust out in tears but I knew I had to be strong for my son who was hurting. As a mom you want to take that pain away but you learn being a military mom especially a Marine mom that all you can do is listen and be there for them day or night. There’s not a day that goes by that my Marine doesn’t think about his friend, his friends newborn son and the brothers he lost that day.

There aren't too many things in this world that can move me to tears. The birth of my daughter definite tear jerker moment. Burying soldiers I served with. Laura Armand A song like this brings the emotions and memories rushing to the front of your brain like a bullet train no matter how hard you try block it. For a long period of time I refused to talk about things because if I didn't talk about it then I could pretend things didn't happen, if that makes any sense to you. It wasn't until a buddy of mine killed himself and I was tooling around TH-cam for a song to dedicate at his memorial and I stumbled across this song. I just couldn't stop the tears.

I served in desert Storm and three deployments after 9/11. The tributes need to go to the families that waited and wondered while we were gone, our spouses that kept things going at home, and the children that only got a phone call once in a while, that were six months when we left and a year and a half when we got back, wondering who we were.

My dad served in the British Army vs IRA, my grandfather and other families have fought other wars like WW2 and WW1. I might not be in the army myself but I’m proud to be their daughter, granddaughter etc. They served our country proud. Too bad the country isn’t doing good now.

I grew up an Army Brat, both parents served and retired from the Army. They missed many things I did through out my High School years. I went into the Army 2 days after High school graduation. I missed both parents passing on and only made it back to my Dad's funeral. My sweetheart broke-up with me because I entered into the Army. I don't regret serving 35 years as an enlisted and officer. I just missed a lot.

My first deployment my daughter was 4 months old I came home she was almost 2 that was so hard I would tell her daddy she would act like she held up a phone to her ear , some people don't understand what we give in return to let them have what they have , but it is are choice to do so and would do it all again

Thank you for your service, I ended up getting out of the military 100% disabled after 3 years of serving so I can raise our daughter while my husband serves, he’s been in for almost 8 years and he sacrifices so much for us to be able to provide for us. It’s definitely hard some days but I’m grateful for the military service members that have served and are currently serving.

Nine years in the Army. PTSD and a few other acronyms. I sit here teetering everyday. It's pretty rough. My daughter is the only reason I haven't checked out yet. And then I see this. Now, again, I am thinking of how many other daughters grow up with this truth. I think of how many other soldiers didn't have a choice to stay. This hurts so deep.
Take it from a vet and a Christian who was in it more than 50 years ago - you can slog through! Believe in your kid and believe in yourself. Nobody says it's easy, but it's worth it!

I'm using my son's account. My dad never made it home. I can never ever hug him again.. Every time I hear the pledge of allegiance or sing an anthem or see a picture of him no matter how many years have gone by do I not think about him. Even though I was 4 when he died not a time goes by that I don't remember the steps I took going to his funeral in the mountains and the things I saw and heard are as clear today as they were back in the 60's. When people die it is not just them that dies...it's their wife, kids, parents tears never dry up hurt never goes away. Please let my dad rest on your shoulders and let him help to keep you strong so that you will never do anything to yourself to not be there for others. Because you will always be a soldier that is still there to help your kid and other kids and the people your kids can help because you made it. STAY STRONG AND BRAVE DEAR SOLDIER. I'm glad you got to stay.

I can remember when I was 5 years old, and told my mom “I want to join the military”. Now, I’m of age to pursue my dream. How excited, pumped, and motivated to get this opportunity.

You go to MCRD in San Diego right next to the airport for receiving and then for most of your training, it’s not on Pendleton. You will go up to Pendleton for like a month for some field training, the rifle range, then to do the Crucible, then it’s back to MCRD for the last two weeks.

I'm a retired military man after 22 years of service. Being out there is hard, but I had a strong wife back home that kept the kids safe and left the light on for me. When we come back, we bring "baggage" and having someone at home that doesn't ask questions, doesn't care what happened, and is only happy you have come home is the best healing magic you can hope for. That song spoke volumes about the brave men and women not on the battle lines, but still battling back at home for us to have a place to come back to. Well done!
