In the U.K 88, this was played to death on the pirate radio. There was something special about this joint, you can't get more Hip Hop than this! Banger still!!
I remember the video for this song when I used to watch Video Music Box with Ralph Mc Daniels in NYC...Wow this brings back memories...I remember the Ironside tune ..It was dope
I remember watching the video on "Video Music Box" for the very first time. This track took over our souls me and my siblings started dancing and jumping all over the living room. We got our asses whipped for showing our asses but, that's what hip-hop is about. Hip-hop is powerful, inspirational, rebellious and it shares our stories to the rest of the world who would didn't understand where we're coming from. Hip-hop allowed us to make our mark in the world. Thank you Positive K for playing a pivotal role in the hip-hop movement.
Brinah A definate OG. He had NY streets for moment it time and it was well deserved. At that time not to many had successful wordplay plus he was featured on records
This never got play here in BMore. Taped it riding through NY on our way to play Westchester CC. I bumped this for YEARS. Still trumps the garbage I hear today!! Big up
Always liked this one. As you've all said, it is truly a classic. Pos K is notorious for keeping his rhymes swift and steady. I remember a friend gave me a tape and this was the first song on it. And the second song was actually with BDP's "Jack Of Spades". I still remember only 'cause it was so ill. This was way before mix tapes. You had to make your own. I'm sure she taped it off of "In Control with Marley Marl". Dope homemade tape that featured one of my all-time favorite rappers, Positive K.
I remember like it was yesterday when i first heard this on Power 99 Street Beat with Lady B. I was in my mothers room blasting her stereo while she was at work losing my damn mind.
I bumped this shit hella loud as I puffed and drew graffiti characters when it first came out!! My soundtrack to being a single father and pioneering in the streets of SF!! Tons of respect Poz!!!
Positive K interview on "The Real Gully Tv" brought me here! I was today years old when I learned that Tupac sampled this in "I Get Around" and Gang Star sampled this on "Step In The Arena"
Funny, this joint just popped up in my head a few days ago and I've been looking for this gem. Along with "Good Combination" (which I do have an actual copy of) this is a classic! One of my favorite MC's period! Thanks for uploading this!
One of my favorite tracks of all time. Completely underrated. Quick story - Back in the day, I lived in flatbush and worked near church ave and mcdonald. I hated walking on church ave bc it was always mad busy... so I'd troop over to Ave C... One of my favorite celebrity sightings was Pos K chillin alone bouncing a basketball. I was like "oh $hit! You!". Every time I hit ave C I looked out for him. I spotted him again, but that was it. Hey Positive, if you read these comments... that's back when there were hookers walking mcdonald ave right there where the F train becomes elevated.
shout out to positive K!!!... i got a man, I'm not having it, step up front or infinite Classics I'm also banging the new one make it happen...type in D.R.U.M.S RUGGED on TH-cam check me out
