First of all I would like to say thank you for your videos. I’ve learned a lot from watching you and also I just purchased bnf tiny hawk, 3 freestyle plus hd and the goggles but I didn’t get the radio. I have the radio master zorro 4 in 1 how can I bind that the hawk with my transmitter I’m a beginner new to the hoppy

Well dang, I was thinking of trying to hop up a FS II with HDZero, and here we are. Nice kit too, never thought about hitting switches (I'm a pincher) on this controler. Still, nice kit to get going with HDZero even. Looking forward to more info on the quad itself. Nice teaser showing the starter kit first ^_^ . The Tinyhawk II motors had a non-standard motor mount size. I hope this time they have gone with 9mm motor mounting. Great video Nick and as always good to see a review from someone who knows how to fly.

Back in the day I always soldered my motors up wrong. I remember switching the motor wires but always losing my props because the nuts were threaded the wrong way! My fix was to pull the c-clip and switch the motor bells 🤯. Those c-clips would always go flying and it was so stressful! 😅 Nick you really are my favorite reviewer. I hope you don’t ever stop. If you find your removing c clips in the future try it in a gallon sized zip lock back. This blocks the clip from many of its exit directions. Thank you for the kind words. Appreciate it.

Hi Nick, Great video and review of the Emax Tinihawk 3 RTF Kit. I like this kit, the Tinihawk 3 is a fun little quad. I found out that Emax has a 3in bottom plate that you can change for a 3in version. Yes I remember brushed F.C, I was lucky enough to start at the end of the brushed motors and CLEANFLIGHT. Thanks again for the video and information about this kit.

Nick, you nailed it. EMAX, after 8 days responded to me today and said flip the turtle mode switch away from me and now all works just fine. Props are spinning in the right directions too. So simple, but yet nobody mentioned it or I just didn't stumble on it. Now all I think???? I have to do is configure VTX from 20W to 200W output since I will be outdoors. Do you have any videos that will help me get started with understanding Betaflight better and what all it can do and what NOT to do in there? I'm in need of a break and searching TH-cam videos. Some are good and some not so good and a waste of time. I liked yours the best so far. Josh is pretty good too, but he is an acquired taste and can only be taken in small doses by me. Althought the range is not spectacular, the video smoothness really is. Time to buy a new TH? No, but I'd recommend it to any beginner (only if they have changed the propietary stuff to standard measurements). The v2 was already stellar but I got tired of replacing flimsy motors.

On my th 2 fr I use a dual bt 2.0 and it is just a good idea if you want to use 2 single cells and you can buy gnb a30 batteries
yes, either is better than ph2.0. It took this hobby several years to move from ph1.25 to ph2.0, we now have much better connectors to option to.

From the outside it may appear that way, Emax might be pushing sales this way. For us reviewing, emax implemented an embargo and set a release date. Both RTF kits have been delayed, not sure why.

Yes, it can be bound to other receivers. I do suggest getting the ELRS version for greatest control link and compatibility.
Need to dona review on that he and hd goggles night time mode I think it has that were you can basically see at night bubby and drib just did a video and I was astonished at how well the view was in pitch black

i was thinking of after I've learned the cetus pro to get this hd drone but the connector really annoys me because I'm confused on why the didn't include some 2s batteries and emax could've placed the battery at the bottom to stop bending the antenna
cool vid. Are the included Transporter goggles compatible with 'normal' HDZERO quads available as usual BNF ? Also from the various reviews I've seen , most footage has lots of artifacts even at close range. is this normal with HDZERO
yes, the compatibility is built into the firmware, the modes we can get are dependent on the camera we are running. not all hdzero cameras support all modes.

Hey Nick how did the image look in your HDZero goggles? Could you show the two different images with the cheap version and the inexpensive goggles?
That's a good question. That's a good question. I would fully expect the hdzero googles to have better reception as there are 4 antenna, but a side by side would be a good way for everyone to see what each has to offer or not.

Nice kit I just think the ph2 connectors is horrible however I was wanting those gogs to try out hd zero before I got the hd zero gogs it's good to have a detachable monitor especially with the regulations is the receiver elrs or frsky🤔
my receiver is elrs. They might have an frsky option, but I haven't looked at the product page yet.

Nice video, question what batteries you was using in that first flight, I’m using the normal battery 650 and the drone goes very slow, when I do flips it doesn’t have that enough power , I don’t know if I have to tuned the drone on bettafly?
I used the batteries it came with or some I had on hand of the same spec. I think what your looking for is faster rates. The rates control how quickly the quad responds to our stick inputs. I have a video on my rates here th-cam.com/video/llpHcWQx8q8/w-d-xo.html

I am asking bc I couldent find this info anywhere or the fc that is being used. Emax truly has garbage documentation where the drone is listed. I ask bc I just got the bnf analog version

yes, the hdzero goggles whether the transporter or others compatible with other hdzero vtx and cameras.

I believe so but the performance will be very low, it will only be capable of flat slower flight.

@@KazanskyAlexoh sorry I missed the detail that it would be a 2s battery with using just one of the ph2.0 connectors. It should work normally with the typical ph2.0 limitations. I don't expect full 2s performance using a single 2s battery with one ph2.0 connector. That connector isn't rated for 8.4v (2s), and thus would be a energy limiting factor.

I’ve seen another option for a frame type for this drone. I’m curious if there’s any difference in the parts of the drone or if it’s just the frame? And also which frame would you recommend?
I couldn't talk about compatiblity there is no reference to any other frame and I have gone looking for another frame for it. The biggest issue can be the motor mounting hold pattern and dimensions.
What kind of range would you expect on this or similar setups?
it will depend greatly on environment. Clear line of sight.....more than a mile. I don't test range as that would break faa regulations. I have seen hdzero tested in video well beyond 10 miles.

I realize you mentioned that you didn't fly with the RTF goggles, but did you notice the battery life?
On Kelly's videos (Ready Set Drone) the battery life was between 25 to 35 minutes, depending on which physical goggle was used.
That certainly isn't the case. I charged them once and tried them out about 4-6 flights, then switched to my hdzero goggles. I have both freestyle RTF kits, I would say at least 50 minutes of run time. Could vary depending on the ambient temperature as they do have a fan and if the fan is running and running fast to cool with high ambient temps I suppose that could shorten battery life some.

Hey I have a question about my jumper t lite, the system button has stopped working and I already updated the radio to the latest edge tx version, is this a common problem with the jumper t lite?

This controller weirdly interests me . Those gimbals look the same as the dji black v1 transmitter . Similar overall form factor too . These are elrs too correct ? This maybe an option for quads i run with o3 system , as its hard switching between different gimbal throw between systems .
Anyone have input what range and usage of this transmitter is like
becareful. Whle better than a good many radios in starter kits, the gimbals aren't as smooth as more expensive controllers. Yes, it does come in and ELRS version.

I suggest the tinyhawk, it has been more popular with those starting out. The cetus is more for indoor starting out.
This plus version is elrs?? then the e8 controller included is elrs also
Have you tried binding that controller to other elrs drones or does it just work with emax?
I haven't tried to bind the radio to other elrs receivers. In premise it should bind with any other elrs receiver as long as both are on the same major elrs version.

if the zorro is elrs as well as the quad yes it will bind, but the version of elrs must be the same major versions on both. There aren't a lot of hdzero goggles. The emax transformers for hdzero, the fatshark scout hd are likely the two least expensive options.
Nick, tell Emax to put an XT 30 🔋 connector on the Tinyhawk Freestyle the 2 Battery Connector SUCKS. an I don’t know why they haven’t change it yet! And the 2 battery wires always break off when bending the wires back an forth to connect and I had to repair the 🔋 wires too!🙏

I was patiently waiting for the TH2 FS to go on sale since LAST NOVEMBER, earlier this spring I was excited to hear that a new TH FS was in the works. As someone on a budget (college), could you honestly recommend buying a new one of these over picking up a used kit? Is the performance difference between the HDZERO and analog really worth $200? It seems like digital transmission is the new big gimmick of this one, so I feel like I would be missing out. What's your recommendation for a $300 budget?
For those on a budget not interested in HD analog is going to be the way to go for price and performance. Now what do you chose kit or individual components. This will depend...how comfortable you are with computer stuff and how much patience you might have. If we have good patience and are fairly okay with computer stuff we can save on buying individual parts and will get something with more performance and/or durability. But if we are the opposite then paying for a kit will bring more satisfaction and ensure we actually get to fly. Now what to buy has so many questions. Inside, outside flight, performance or durability, how much space do we have or plan to have....?
@@NickBurnsFPV I always thought the tiny whoops were lame and kinda want it as a reason to fly outdoors. I'm in a smaller town so I definitely want it to be outdoors. I have a lot of experience with computers and have done some soldering. I've never had a drone or anything FPV, but I have played games with similar controls, played some sims, and flown an RC plane. I have time I could set aside to do these things (I have a project car and have potato cannons n things). Should I do some research on build guides?
@@shmurkles6652Building has a set of useful skills and knowledge that we gain during that process. It can be frustrating and test our patience as well. Generally building costs more than buying a kit or bnf, even if the building goes without us making a mistake or otherwise. With that it really depends on own own priorities and how we value them. A bnf will get us in the air faster and cheaper. Building will test us but build the troubleshooting and fixing skills. A BNF isn't without a knowledge gain, with it being built we essentially have it built correctly and if we need to make a repair we have a "wire map" at our disposal. Hopefully that helps some in making your decision.
@@NickBurnsFPV building being more expensive makes no sense to me. I guess they have their suppliers optimized to reduce consumer costs. If it's cheaper I don't have any issues not building it, and I feel fine doing repairs. Is it possible to get into the 2.5"+ freestyle hobby for under $300?

Is this better than the sub250 whoop16 RTF kit?
Its going to depend on cost and individual evaluation, and any sort of less than 20/20 vision one has. Also have to weigh how important inside flight is or the sort of flight performance one is wanting when starting.
Nick could you tell what cable you used hook up to the computer ?
The cable should be included with the kit. There are some very cheap usb cables that are charge only, these won't work to connect a drone to a computer. The cable needs to be charge and data cable. We also have to install the drivers listed on the front page of the betaflight configuration applications in the lower left.

So Nick i was looking and comparing stats on paper from the tinyape and the th3 freestyle anolog and ut seems that the tinyape is still better im not sure if im correct but the runcam atom-w dosnt seem as good as nano 4 is that something tou can say or is the new th3 a better option kinda stuck.
I would agree the tinyape is a better performer as long as we get the better camera option. The only item I can't measure is customer support or product support.
@NickBurnsFPV Also I've seen the stock 1s lipos are 57mm long you think a 64mm battery would fit on there I was planning on xt30 right away but was looking at 530mah and 550mah the 550s are 69mm so probably not those but I'm iffy on the 64 it seem it would fit or hang over there's not really to much pecifications on the length and stuff like that.

@NickBurnsFPV sorry for all the questions but honestly do you think 69mm would fit it seems there a fair 0.5-1 cm gap from the edge and that's 10mm if it is 1cm and if that's true in theory you can fit 67mm battery's but I can't call it for sure the videos can be deceiving sometimes it could be bigger or smaller can you test fit a 550mah 2s to call it forsure I'm looking at the ruler and think that 57mm to 69mm battery could be possible but not fully sure. I'm just pushing for 550mah, there the smallest with 100c all 530mah have 90c or less.
@@elchapo2440 The battery can be shifted or longer and hang over the front end of the frame. At some length and at a high camera angle we might see the battery.
The radio and quad are forgettable for the most part, but those goggles have me intrigued. I'm not a fan of the WS VRX, especially the weight and wires hanging off my skyzones. Those Emax goggles standalone are not much more $ than the HDZero VRX (plus 4x antenna too) I'm am a pro-box goggle pilot, and the value of those goggles is hard to ignore!
Are you using box goggles now? If so which ones?
I actually have skyzone 04Ls, but started with the old ev800D's. My astigmatism and the adjustable focus don't 'see eye-to-eye' super well, plus the extra weight out on the end of my nose from the VRX could be avoided

How do I set up the TinyHawk to power up and fly on a 1S battery?
It can't. This is a 2s quad. it needs either 1 2 cell battery(modification) or 2 1 cell batteries.
@@NickBurnsFPV Wrong. It can fly on 1S, you just need to put the included "loop" plug into one of the two JST connectors. I just learned this the other day and it works perfectly fine.
How do I know when the 1S batteries are charged?
They have had a solid green light for 1 hour since I turned it on. Where there is no battery the green light flashes. Where I have both batteries installed it is a solid green light.
When the charge is finished, does it turn a different color or does the green turn off? They have been charging for 1 hour
Not sure and the manual doesn't detail this. I suspect from the manual full charged is solid green light. a way to check battery voltage is to plug in the battery to the quad and look through the goggles at the on screen battery voltage, depending on version full battery would show something between 4.08 volts to 4.2 volts.

@@BertoLaredo Okay, yes that is about right. I forgot this one uses 2 1s batteries, so the fully charged batteries would be 8.4 at most 8.45, but after we plug in some of the voltage is used to power the quad.

Are these goggles for HDZero only? I thought you would need deep pockets to buy HDZero (or any HD) goggles, and now they come as a part of a cheap kit? And I also see no one pays attention to that fact. Seems like I am back go square 0 on understanding the goggles world. Can these be used with any other system? Analog? Other HD?
Yes, the HDZero kit is for HDzero only. They do have an analog version available.

@@kaskalo2 Yes, the cost of the goggle for hdzero is a good budget goggle for hdzero. Though its a better deal as a kit than buying alone, I see the goggles purchased alone is $239.99US
How to link the station to the drone. Pressing the two arrows in?
If you bought the kit it should be linked/bound out of the box. Did something change? From page 7 of the manual
1.3.1 Binding & Unbinding
Entering Binding Mode for E8 Transmitter (ELRS-2.4G): Start by powering
on the E8 Transmitter (ELRS-2.4G). Then, simultaneously press the "L4+" and
"R3-" buttons and hold for 1 second. A sound prompt will be heard, and the
central indicator light will alternate between green and red flashes, indicating
that the transmitter has entered Binding Mode. Entering Unbinding Mode for E8
Transmitter (ELRS-2.4G): Begin by powering on the E8 Transmitter (ELRS-2.4G). If it's already successfully bound to the flight controller, then simultaneously
press the "L4+" and "R3-" buttons and hold for 1 second. A sound prompt will
be heard, and the central indicator light will alternate between green and red
flashes, signifying that the transmitter has been unbound from the flight

inside as in a home? I wouldn't advise. The props would damage walls and furniture. inside in a gym or warehouse is much more feasible.

Hi Nick. I got the latest kit with ELRS and HDZERO a week ago. The very first thing I ran into was that EMAX tech support has taken over 5 days to respond to my submitted ticket while claiming they would respond within 1-2 business days which is a joke. Buyers beware. But the issue is that my transmitter won't charge no matter how long, to have a solid green light like the manual says. Mine will alternate between red and green about every second no matter how long it charges. EMAX just don't know why or who knows? I would suspect it to be defective. But that's just speculation on my part. I know this video is 9 months old but looking everywhere for answers and finding nothing but pure chaos in the drone world. Can someone please help? It does sound like it could be defective. By chance does that one come with an accessible 18650 battery? If so maybe swap it out, and try different usb cables and different usb power sources to see if anything changes. Have you used the remote for any length of time? Does it turn off after a short time? How long will it run before it shuts down?
@@NickBurnsFPV I tried every cable and charger in the house. My Samsung Galaxy cell phone is a quicker charging one that still does not work. An no, I didn't want to risk battery damage due to using it without knowing it was fully charged.

Nick, it was the battery. I doubt anyone would have known to do that. Why would a brand new radio come with a deflective battery? where was quality control? I swapped it out and the other charged up just find. Off to to find another issue that will stop me in my tracks. I hear you mention Betaflight to adjust a setting which you thought made the drone more or less something? but you liked it better at 86%. You got way above the head of a beginner on that one. It was mighty unclear when you don't know what Betaflight is, how to get it, where to install it and how to connect it to the drone, transmitter, or video to adjust things. Do you know of a video out here that would walk a beginner through setting up all components to the Betaflight application? but thanks again on the Battery. I would have never thought to switch it out and more figured it was a built in component.
Nick, good job getting me past the transmitter/battery issue. So when I powered up the transmitter making sure arming was in the off position and throttle off, the drone beeped a few times indicating who knows what, possibly bind complete..?? But when I went to give it some throttle, nothing happened. So I tried left rudder and right rudder and certain blades activated and it would spin around in circles. I then tried the right stick and it was working correctly but only using 2 props to change the tilt. So it just slid to the right or left as you used the right stick. Still no throttle. So I'm stuck again but getting closer. Why would the throttle be dead? Did I miss something previously? And I notice in most all videos that all 4 blades typically begin to spin fairly slow when you arm the drone with the transmitter. Mine does not do that. My blades only spin if you move the various sticks and all my sticks seemed to be working except the throttle. Very weird. And now we are going on 6 days on my previous ticket to EMAX without a response. 1-2 business days they claim is false advertisement.
They added the caps on the plug but left the wires the same length form the previous version.. that stinks !!Does it have the same motors as the last version? Frame looks wider on the struts. What is the weight ? Kinda left out some of the specs … For those of us who care.
I think these motors were 12025’s, vs 1103 on the FS2. Same 7k rpm.
I wish I had a computer that could actually run a SIM but I keep fixing quads.
have you tried fpv freerider? It might have the lowest specs needed.
New Emax quad? I bet there's a new Kabab video about it, seems to be the only company that brings him back from the hiatus 👀

All of your links point to the Tinyhawk III whoop. This one you reviewed should be called Freestyle, shouldn’t it? The name Tinyhawk has, in the past, always referred to the propeller-guarded whoop. And past Freestyles resembled this one.

@@alexwolfe957The x are better image quality. I don't recall the differences other than the screens. Best deal depends how much one values a feature or specification vs the cost.
ATTENTION, I DO NOT recommend tinyhawks to anybody. Their AIO boards are overpriced and break a lot. Same with motors, non standard and emax motors are super expensive. I started with tinyhawk S, then tinyhawk 2, then tinyhawk freestyle. I ended up buying 8 AIOs over time, they're over 80 euros each, while other similar performing AIOs are 40-50 normally.
Reviewers on TH-cam don't keep flying these RTF kits after the reviews and their durability is not questioned.
I would offer two potential tips for all micros with AIO. Disarm immediately on crash, and don't use turtle mode with obstructed props. I have often received frustrated comments on AIO. These tips I have received positive feedback from others.

yes if the computer supports blue tooth. I don't recall what has to be done with the radio to enter bluetooth mode, but its in the manual.
