    Your video is exactly what I needed to do my mod. The first 3 minutes describing the 2 cat system of Cali NB1 and that differs from the 49 States model is helpful. Visually the difference between the NB1 and NB2 exhaust also helped.

      I'm glad the video was helpful! Thank you for watching.

      Just wondering why you needed to replace the downpipe since NB1 and NB2 should have the same pipe.

    That header you installed is the exact one on my '99NB. And it appears to be OEM. So some must have come from the factory with that style and others with the type you removed. When I got the car it had aftermarket headers on it, but the seller gave me the original exhaust which I reinstalled. With the aftermarket headers it makes the control tunnel get real hot on longer trips. Since they lack those heat shields. So if you remove the heat shields it will need that thermo wrap blanket stuff inside the tunnel.

    May as well swap the engine mounts while doing this. Unless they're new or nearly new. Cheap insurance and will save a ton of hassle later on.

    Did you use the same nb1 egr tube or did you have to buy a nb2 egr tube also i thought the nb2 down pipe has 2 o2 sensors

    Nice one! Do you think that EGR delete is a good mod?

      Thanks for the support! I think it depends - on NA Miatas, the EGR delete has more of a benefit compared to the NBs. Overall though, the benefit will be minimal and if you need to get smogged in a state like California, you will fail without the EGR. Some people remove it to make way for a coolant reroute though.

      @@speedygarage264 Thanks! It should be wise to leave it as it is.

      @@speedygarage264 the thought of an EGR is so stupid to be honest. Imagine hot exhaust gases that is like 2000 degrees going back into the intake manifold. If you know anything about tuning like "engine knock" or "pre-detonation" which is caused by "very very very hot air" going into the combustion chambers. I live in california and the invention of the EGR is so fkin stupid. So not only does EGR hamper performance by coating and then shrinking the size of the intake path, but it is also hard on engine oil, and even degrades the coolant that is used to cool off the exhaust gases passing through the EGR cooler.
      this is copied from google:
      The EGR system works by returning a small portion of an engine's exhaust gas to the engine's combustion chambers through the intake manifold, lowering combustion temperatures and therefore reducing the amount of NOx emitted.
      "lowering combustion temperatures my ass LOL." I live in california. The laws here are pretty retarded sometimes.

    Also is the down pipe your using a nb2 downpipe or the original nb1 downpipe?

    Higher pitch sound it seems.

    • @speedygarage264
      @speedygarage264  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A little bit for sure - not a huge difference in sound or power, but I think it would make more of a difference depending on what other modifications you have on the car. Thanks for watching!

      @@speedygarage264 I'm sure of one thing, it dropped the engine temperature, at least on that side of the engine, considering how much thinner than the original one. Thick and heavy.
