I heard what I needed in the first 4 minutes. You basically say it was a slow burn and gross. That is enough. I will see it.

I saw this over the weekend and it was good, but not cringe inducing. It had its moments, however was about 30 minute too long. The payoff for the slow burn was not great. Still not a bad movie.
Thinking back on the overall story, I adored it. And thinking back on the little things that bothered me throughout, there's some shit with the pacing and the order of the scenes that I feel could've been put together in a more efficient, less pattern-ish way. Dane's an amazing actor so I'm sure I would've enjoyed it regardless of if it was better or worse. All in all, if you're into gory dark mysteries and slowly unravelling stories about gruesome history, then there's plenty of content in this film that you'll appreciate. One major plus - I can confidently say that there's at least two back to back scenes where you can feel and hear the entire theater cringe and groan in horror. Pretty good tbh.

I KNOW WHAT THE ENDING MEANS! (SPOILERS)
The ending of the movie where Dane Dehaan smiles big is confirmation that the big reveal is ACTUALLY that the wellness center is Arkham Asylum. The movie was an origin story about The Joker and Harley Quinn.

I 100% agree with your review. Great atmosphere, great music, every single shot is a piece of fucking art and the editing is amazing! The finale disappointed me a tiny bit but I like the creepiness of the movie and the mind-bending horror. I just water to uncover all the secrets and it was so tense in certain moments..
FINALLY!! I'm so glad I found someone else on youtube who does movie reviews that LIKES this movie! I don't understand why everyone is hating on this movie, this movie is great. This isn't a Hollywood horror-jumpscare-thrill-fest it's a psychological thriller and yes it is a little slow and some of the imagery may be confusing but upon reflection, it has a lot of social commentary on the human mind and how far would someone go to escape reality and it also makes you question what is your reality? Is your reality whatever you make it? If your reality was a dream who's to say it's not real as long as the person who's dreaming believes it?
The reason people wouldn’t like it is because there is allegory and undertones that people won’t pick up on. Also, they could take a half an hour out of the film, the pacing is a little off. But, you kind of have to want to get to get it. Not everybody wants to try to feel it
So glad you guys gave it a good review. The creepy asf tone and the visuals in that first trailer knocked me on my ass. Can't wait to see it.

"A Cure for Wellness" will disturb you to your core. its not gory or paranormal and still after 2 hours my hands were shaking. i walked out of the theatre just in time to avoid the incestual rape scene. it could have been great but the film is just too damn demented. 10/10 would un-see.
It's such a strange disturbing film. As a horror it doesn't scare so much as disgust and shock which really works to its advantage . Honestly you don't get films made like this much anymore .
I left this movie with a feeling a film has never given me before. The movie has contrived delusion about it that kept me in awe the entire time, I didn't feel it overstayed its welcome at all, there were always tidbits that seemed to make sense but the harder i attempted to decipher the labyrinth the more enthralled in the delusion i became. Towards the end i had been completely betrayed by every intuition i had, when things seemingly start to come together for you is exactly when you realize how much you don't know. you can only sit back and try to bask in the madness. This film won't make a lot of sense the first time you watch it, and thats exactly how it's intended to be.

I finally got to watch this movie and I really loved it. The cinematography and soundtrack really made this movie feel big and gave it its own being. And I feel like the slowness was meant to be that way because it delivers on the madness of not knowing. It sounds cheesy but I feel like it really worked.

The only problems that I had with the movie is..[SPOILER ALERT?] He should have received more trauma to his body/face during the car accident. Also it bothers me how he was able to change his pants with a huge plaster cast on his leg.
Other than that I really liked the movie and thought that it was beautifully shot.

This movie reminds me of Shutter Island and Stone Hurst.. I just think Stone Hurst was far better than a cure for wellness...... Split was even better. I would pay to see split again... A cure for wellness was so not what I thought it was going to be.. It was two and a half hours long it felt like it.. This movie was long winded and just o.k.
