I have it since Launch. In my working place I have strong WiFi. I work for 10 hours per night - and have "free" time during work. Playing PS5 games in this scenario, is amazing! This is the perfect device FOR ME! ❤
Do you need the PS5 nearby?
@@ShazeemKhanno
@@ChaseEditoryes you do
@@Alfredooo666 I have it, no you do not need to be near. As long as you have WiFi and your PlayStation is on, you can play anywhere..
@@ChaseEditorbut it lags aF, sony promised silky-smooth experience but in reality it has high latency
I love dedicated devices. Im lucky to have 1gb up and down wifi at home with my ps5 hardwired into the router so this works for me. Bluetooth is my only gripe.
Man I want one so bad but I can’t find it anywhere
Also, the led lights on a regular dual sense controller surround the touchpad. It was the dual shock 4 that had those lights on the top of the controller.
The lights on the dual sense are on the face of the controller and I love them!
Great for us with families where the PS5 is on a different floor and the family is never down there. This way I'm with my family instead of disappearing for hours.
Omg, exactly my saying. I hate our son disappearing upstairs playing fifa 24 for hours. This way at least he will be downstairs visible with the rest of the family
Thanks for the video, I was excited to see that they even thought of something like this. I really only play GT7 and I wanted to see what someone said about it. It’s definitely a luxury but it will help with tv sharing. Thanks again.
i have it and feels premium and i dont have any issues with it
Yeah that’s a weird thing that it has no Bluetooth. Last thing I thought it would be missing. But good vid 👌🏾
SEEEETTTHHHH i didn't even realize it was you
if you can't watch and play the Portal at the same time you need a new router, I watch my NBA games on tv and still play my Portal just fine on the same wi-fi.
To replicate the push track pad button you have to tap twice
I just learned that today lol. That’s a very good touch considering people probably would be tapping the touch pad by mistake.
Or, buy a monitor.
I travelled from England to Scotland with it.
Waste of power. 97% useless outside your home.
Bought at Game in Plymouth, returned at Game in Glasgow.
My old 21FE is better.
does streaming games from the PS5 depend on download or upload speed ?
Just buy the AirFly transmitter on sale now for $25 and problem solved. I use my AirPod pro with no problem
You cannot use this outside your house because using internet in cafes and hotels requires a browser to get access 🤣. What a load of bs
I have yet to see someone do a review without it being spider man and maybe trying genshin or star rail on it.😅
Sooo true and I’m trying to avoid sm spoilers so yeah feel you on that.
Quick thing if you have wireless headphones connected to your ps5 you can use them on your portal
I got a case on amazon for I can travel with it
It’s sucks you have to keep the PS5 in rest mode for it to work
i been using this device at work since release. love it. finally can finish back catalog, serves my purpose . its hard to do that with kids
I thougt you cant play portal without ps5 is on?
@@ErickmustbeKrazyyou just need your ps5 in rest mode
can you connect it to your mobile phone 5g? And if so is there a lot of leg
yes you can connect it to mobile hotspot. performance depends on internet, doesn't wifi or 5g hotspot. if you have good signal and speed. portal will work great@@nicoleohene432
Yeah LTT had a better review video for this.. this dude is a little biased… he even said it had lag 😂😂 unlike the switch and steam deck… BTW this portal HAS BLUETOOTH BUILT INTO THE WIFI CHIP!! SONY IS THAT SHADY! They disabled the Bluetooth feature/software so they can exclusively sell you theirs for an outrageous price at $200 for some cheap Chinese PlayStation quality earbuds..
the problem is not the device, if this came out 5 years ago I will say its great addition and worth to buy, but we are in 2023 and this device really is not that great when you think about it for a reason: AR glasses exist..... when you combine AR glasses + your phone + your existing PS5 controller this is what you get:
1. OLED screen
2. 20 times bigger screen that its not even comparable
3. lower latency as you using your phone to stream not another device connecting to your phone
4. its smaller
5. its lighter setup
6. you can use it with Xbox and PS
7. it gives more privacy
8. it have better sound using built in glasses speakers
9. its more portable thanks to glasses being much smaller and easier to carry
10. more battery life in phone (Hotspot consume more than Glasses consumes from your phone).
11. Bluetooth connectivity to your headphones or earbuds
and I bet theres more reasons to get this setup like media consumption and other advantages...... its really infact dumb to pick this over AR glasses.... for example if your wife sleeping and you have to leave the room, you can actually stay in room and play in AR glasses it wont cause any issues..... while in Portal you wil be leaving the room to play it elsewhere and who knows if Wifi is stable there
I'm sorry that's not what anybody wants from Sony and it's not competition for anybody in the portable video game
It does have a web browser, but it's currently locked...
And cloud gaming is on the way according to Hideaki Nishino (Senior Vice President, Platform Experience).
The Portal has 3 antennas so Bluetooth might be added in a future update but to be fair, PS5 didn't support Bluetooth either so I wasn't surprised...
The support of cloud gaming is a game changer in my opinion
You made every word of that up.
What memory are they going to use?
Lololololololol
@@johnnymcfakeit has a browser ,
@cutegirlgamingnation2876 , cool, you'll be able to use Starbucks WiFi, or WiFi on the train then.
Oh wait, no, you won't.
Thats why I returned mine.
Keep up, that isn't a browser, it's a piece of shit.
I don't know what it is about this thing, but I'd be super concerned about snapping it clean in half!
Just get a Nintendo Switch or Steam deck instead, this thing is a scam and ps5 games are trash and not worth “streaming” 😂😂😂
Perfect device as a father of two. I’ve owned the steam deck too and this makes more sense to me. It looks weird sure but it’s the best handheld I’ve held. Steam deck was loud, battery life sucked. Playing two games of OW2 would drain the entire battery. Steam deck required a lot of tweaking too. For someone who owns a PS5 and wants to just game casually every now and then the portal is perfect. Also easy on the wallet as you don’t need to spend twice for the games you like to play.
The portal is just what I needed. Surprised Sony didn’t release a case with it.
Is your phone or tablet broken?
If you didn't have one already, you didn't need this.
If you did, you didn't need this.
@@johnnymcfakeyou just don’t get it. This is a legit Ps5 controller with a screen. Not connecting a controller to another portable device. You just don’t see the difference do you lol
@@johnnymcfakeI’m agreeing with this. I never used remote play until I bought this portal and by the way the latency sucks no matter how good the internet is. I was better off using my phone instead of spending money on this. It’s just too laggy and choppy.
@@TonyBoutHisMoney, wow, the difficulty of connecting my old phone to a controller for £10.
"HoW dO I cLiP tHiS oN¿".
@@johnnymcfake I have a iPhone 15 pro max. I just don’t wanna play on my phone like a child lol
to bad it's not a PSP, i think real game hand helds died at psp vita. having dedicated games for it makes a real system hand held, remember the good old days game boy, nintendo ds, psp etc..
I would totally have one! If… All the scalpers didn’t take them😡😡😡
next time pre order
Youre not missing out on anything. Really wanted to like it but its too laggy. Tried MK1, Astros Playroom and a few others, but same result
Wired headphones are $10 or less on amazon it’s not that hard
The sound quality from those ten dollar headphones must be like listening to a 1930's radio through a tin can.😂
Omg
I want this device but i was not aware about it tried to get ot on release an it was sold out. Guess ill wait for restock because they are selling it for 400 to 550 on Amazon an eBay
I could just connect a controller to my iphone and do the same thing
Imagine when it becomes standalone ?! 1:29 shiiii would transform mobile gaming
1:58 making a carrywith case, or specially made bags specifically to pack the portal device with more
I’m loving mine I have zero issues with it while I’m at home.. hands down this is the way to remote play your games if you want a portable game streaming device..👍🏻
Same here
Bullshit.
Post a video of you playing SM2, during a heavy fight sequence.
Mine lasted 2 hours before I returned it, it's a better experience on an old 21 FE.
Have fun bro. Scalpers beat me to it
As a matter of fact PS Vita 2 is still needed and wanted
Thanks for the informative review.... Subbed up !!!!!!! this looks Awesome, Now just I gotta work on that Ps5 LOL
Im 100% sure that new features will be released and enabled on this device over time. The Switch didn't support Bluetooth at launch either and new iPhones are released without all the features being enabled at launch and no one seems to have a problem with that. So why is this device held to a different standard?
Because it doesn't have memory, nor does it have BT.
You can't turn something on that isn't there.
thank you
@@johnnymcfake
Also those companies those products are there front an center products ( Switch, iphones) so updating them with quality of life changes is essential. This portal thing is nothing but a way to squeeze more money out of the customer under the guise of convenience. This is an accessory to them, not their main attraction they don't have to update it and they probably won't because with this portal...... more convenience for us is less Money for them. Sony cares about money more than the consumer
@@devonjames7999 you know, not all corporations are evil.
Alejandro Farrell i hope can win
To all the guys showing this device some love and not hatin on it and have never tried it...respect. I love this thing. Money well spent.
I got Sony Inzone H7 and it has a surprisingly wide range. I can still get sound in my bedroom from a PS5 sitting in my livingroom. Now it'd be great if these is an option to stream game to a Portal while playing 3D audio to my headphones. I know Sony is greedy and want to sell headphones for Portal but I still has fingers crossed.
I heard if you connect your inzone headphones to your ps5, the sound will work on your Portal. I'd try that
@@PumKnH3Dthe pulse 3d yes nit sure about 3rd party tho
I’ve been having the touchpad issue, lag and stuff like that even though I have 2 TB Internet connection and sound cutting in and out. I have fixed a lot of the issues though by adding some wires on the inside to strengthen the signal to the Wi-Fi connection because I noticed that it only has three wires on the inside of it and only one of them is for your Wi-Fi connection. The other two were actually for the new headphones which is ridiculous. I don’t know what Sony was thinking because my Phone my logitech G cloud work a lot better for some reason I was really looking forward to this device now after I fixed it it works really well a lot better than it did before I can actually walk through multiple walls and a lot farther from my house now like I can with my G cloud and my phone and it still works
But I just think for something made by PlayStation it should work better than my phone and my G cloud, and it does not
Considering the pro controller is $200 this is a no brainer
Adding Bluetooth to this is like taking the stream delay and adding the Bluetooth delay on top of that. It would be a very unfun experience, besides the fact that Bluetooth does also mess with WiFi signal.
So they would add an unpleasant experience that also decreases the performance of the stream itself which is the main purpose of the device.
I’m sitting here wondering why people are wondering about this.
The portal is dope love it ❤
Man, these reviewers all suck.. Why would you review a remote-play product and have the worst router? Proximity to the Playstation have nothing to do with this as it doesnt connect to the Playstation but rather to the router. You should get a mesh WIFI 6E router is you will be using this product.
I do have a Eero pro 6e mesh system and this thing still doesn’t work well
You’re meant to double tap the touch pad it’s intentional.
If you got banging internet, definitly get one!!
Your current pulse headphones work bro.
There using the ps5 your emote playing from as long as your in your own gaff
So basically 🗑️
I missed my opportunity to get one, so I have no experience with it at all. However, I think it is stunning looking, the most unique handheld device I have ever seen. I really dig the aesthetic of it. I was never a PSP user or anything, so I have no affinity for a true Playstation portable device for gaming. I've heard great things and maybe one day I'll come across one. I do have a Switch, but I am not a handheld gamer. I am solely interested in this to play my PS5 in the living room while spending time with my family and maybe in my bed at night before crashing before work. Speaking of, I take my Switch to work for lunch and breaks, or slow rainy days. It would be nice to take this instead as I prefer Playstation games than Nintendo stuff.
Touch pad click = double tap. Can see it in video it didnt work until you double tapped.
I wanted this to be amazing but my connection is terrible despite having great internet
If you have a 5g signal and a 2.4 signal it may be connected to the 2.4 causing it to not perform as well.
@@c28. how do I make sure it is on the correct band please
I am planning on getting a PlayStation portal soon
Just bought mine and I’m loving it, it has its flaws and limitations but as a way for me to play away from my PS5, it’s awesome. Whenever I’m travelling I’m mostly driving so it’s not like I can play it til I get to a place with wifi or a place where I can relax and connect my hotspot to it and play some laid back story games. Definitely a must buy for casual gamers who are fine with its limitations and flaws.
Yes
For touch pad, you double tap it. Work like a charm.
Kinda starting to want one of these now 😂subbed up🤩
More of a luxury item layin around at home. Madden looks cool on it -may persuade me.
For now I’ll stick with iPhone 15 PM + Backbone v.2 ….at least it’s “portable” and has perks of iPhone 15 Pro and AAA games like RE Village, RE 4, and more -that doesn’t require streaming connection.
Got mine, it runs remote play way smoother than my iPad. Huge improvement for remote play in terms of user experience.
It’s a waste of money
no lag? artifacts? screen stutering? i have wifi 6 mesh router system with 500 down and 100 up and remote play using my mac/phone has all those problems, ps5 is not connected using a cable, all devices connented via wifi, and i am wondering if the portal will hold the stream smoothly
@@mikeyg-f7swho tf are you to decide if its a waste of someone else's money?
@@linkvagar2336 well I’m the consumer so there’s that 😂✌️
Guy loves it because PlayStation was “always upfront about it” hahah! So stupid
The bar is really low. 😂
And most people that do want it please don't pay any of these scalper prices.
rookie question: would remote play work if you have a disc version of a game on the ps console?
Yes!
Only if the disc is in the console.
So, not Yes!
It depends.
And the only attraction i have to this is when my wife wants to watch something i dont enjoy (is it cake for example....because thats a thing). Then i can play my ps5 while she watches that. But you cant dual use. She cant use Hulu on my ps5 while i use this. So its this, a fire stick. Its tempting but im confused at sonys mindset on this
I wish it was just a "share device". Being able to transfer a game and save data to a portable device, vs. Streaming to a portable device would be far more preferable.
I have 5G internet on my phone. Can I use my phone as a router? So that this works perfectly when I am outside?
Or it does not work like that?
Ps5 can be on from home. Thats no problem.
Don't slander the GBA SP like that 😩 (great review though 😉)
Hopefully they update it with web browser wtf paying $200 or $300 for it and no web browser Sony we need it!
I think we all slept on this one. Very underrated device. Mad I didn’t get one
It's the typical holiday release stuff of low quanity and high demand. They'll come back in stock. This isn't a limited item.
@@xportaleerx9287 hope so bro
Nahhhhh there was no sleep missed on this . Wait till Sony actually puts out there next portable console
@@devonjames7999 I don’t need a Sony portable tho. I’m good with PS5. I’m gonna get the Legion Go. That will be my next portable
@@devonjames7999 This is not a limited item. It's all about money.
Mine can’t keep a solid 60fps on a 1gb connection. To me it’s pretty worthless.
You have to double tap tap the touch pad
Just saying objectively a Nintendo switch lite is better and if not prove me wrong just saying
Don't use it to play FPS, sports and action games. GT7 experience poor on Wifi 6 router
Can anyone tell me if anyone is having issues with it working on a mesh wifi, as i move to another room to play it disconnects and has trouble connecting again
Is it to make you buy they headphones lol 😂😂 it’s a business move they had to find a way to get people to need a reason to purchase their earbuds so they made their device only use with they headphones. They did say though other companies have the option to put the link option in their headphones so you will see a lot more headsets and earbuds come out with the PlayStation link button
Honestly thinking about picking it up because my wife likes hogging the tv 😆
Most unnecessary device of 2023... and post the birth of Christ.
Never take psp and this crap in the same meaning, a bag of c*ke is more useful than PS port
Subbed Up
Scalpers on ebay trying to sell these things for 500$🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m trying to escape Mrs Rachel. Worth the money hands down.
SUBBED UP💯
Thank you broo for the explanations
i love mine i use it at home at work and when i visit my siblings in another city
“Unnecessary luxury” - yet its sold out., the way i see it people buy it to post content on youtube unboxing or something and then set it aside to gather dust for the rest of its life., instead of some kid who had saved up to play it when he comes home from school for a couple of years 😢
Got my portal best thing playing my game in my restroom till my leg get numb 😊
A bluetooth transmitter is a easy fix for using amy headphones.
Great review. Too bad, not in Thailand yet. Looking forward to own one.
i just wanna play games in my bed laying down from the console
Does it feel heavy After playing for log time?
This thing will get better in time just wait- 😊
How?
One of many making excuses for this poor excuse for a handheld
I found that if you double tap the screen then it pulls up maps and what not
I live in a 1 bedroom 601sqft. I’m lazy af and play it in my bed.
Bluetooth headphones are not appropriate for gaming.
I wish the switch looked like this.
You couldn’t use Bluetooth on this thing? I mean you could but the audio would never be synced up. The remote audio stream couldn’t be synced up to the video and the Bluetooth connection. It’s not like how Apple will buffer a video for it to sync up, as the remote streams latency will be dynamic. It would be an awful experience.
Bluetooth in general is really bad, Apple uses TONS of tech to make it good on their devices, natively, without streaming tech built in. Just use 2.4ghz or wired.
The glazing is unreal
Huge Pass for me, how i wish its a Stand alone PS 5 ..
For inputs where you would press the touchpad on a Dual Sense, you have to double tap the touchscreen on the Portal.
Wow.
Such innovation.
