Sorry for so many corrections, but Bluetooth is an open standard. There’s no royalties or licensing involved. It literally costs $9 for normal people to buy a BT chip. It would cost Sony less than a dollar to add this, though maybe it was tough design-wise to make it fit.

Running both my ps5 and portal off wifi with 1 gig internet with no issues. Haven’t tried the portal outside my home yet, will see how that goes! Lol people talk way too much shit nowadays, it’s a great device for the right person.
The battery bares are represented in 33% so if you have 3 bares it’s 99% full charge 2 bares is 66% and 1 bare is 33% left and when the Portal says low battery that’s 5% left.

Hi. Just watched your video and one thing I picked up in was your battery life. I get on average 6 hours. Haptics at medium, screen brightness at about 50%, mic light off, led lights on. That's 2 hours more than yours. Very strange. I'm in the UK so not sure if models are different. Great video btw. I'm hardwired to a router booster , so then wireless to the router. 😊
Not to defend backbone but the remote play app has basically the same setup as the portal. You said it takes 10-20 seconds. It took me 13 seconds to close TH-cam and get into Spider-Man including load times. Also, your internet speed has nothing to do with streaming when you’re at home because it’s not going through the internet, just your home network. Great choice upgrading the router, that’s the most important thing. Hardwiring the ps5 is a necessity because streaming over WiFi on ps5 and controller side just sucks.
Here’s my tips upgrade your router use a 5GHz band not the 2.4GHz band. Dont use your service providers wifi built into the modem plug a Ethernet cable into the modem then into your wifi router and connect the Portal to that access point not the modems access point. Buy a wifi extender and mesh it with your router to keep the signals strong. Plug your PS5 in wired not wireless. And lastly turn off the setting on the PS5 that boots the tv up with the console this will stop the console from outputting a signal until the TVs turned on.
@@chocolatewheelchair well do you want it to work good or not. I was having some stuttering issues and it was from my router that was over 10 years old. I fear that thanks to this device the gaming industry will start normalizing at-home "portable" gaming and all other big companies will start releasing their version of the same type of thing. I can really only think of one moment when you'd truly sort of benefit from this thing at home and that's while in the restroom, but in all honesty if you can't even wait until your number is finished before hopping back on your ps5 something is likely very wrong with you (gaming addiction). Please, dont game and shit, it's not sanitary to handle your gaming devices while pooping. Thats a fact. Now, if you truly enjoy playing on a much smaller screen in the room right next door to your set-up, good for you! You possess qualities beyond most of us' comprehension. If you're not in the gaming room, chances are you're keeping yourself busy with other things. That's how I see it. So it makes no sense to try and force gaming while taking care of other activities
For me my gaming room is downstairs and sometimes I don't want to go downstairs to play the game I want to play. Its like having a portable ps5 in the house. Also when I want to be in the same room as wife and kids while they are watching TV.
Internet speeds have nothing to do with your portal experience when playing on a lan. Besides initial checkin, the portal does not utilize internet. All streaming is done within the lan.
I got this and i’ve been running overtime on that thing in my bed played almost the whole game of ff16 and nier automata next to my sleeping wife it will be even better when they make a update so that we can use media services on it like netflix etc

Thanks for the review. I'm still not convinced to go and buy it, just because I can't afford the PS5 yet. But I can see it in a future once it becomes complete portable gaming.
So the fact that you need to be running this thing on an optimal wifi network means that it is completely useless outside of your house. Making the whole point of the console redundant. Waste of money by the sounds of it
I like my ps portal but why did sony not inclued some sort of protection? And the ps portal use a snapdragon 662 mobile chip it can at least handel youtube or some small games and some emulation and i really hope sony put some ps1 games maybe just maybe some ps2 games on it for offline use. I hope sony still have not lost any hope in handheld gaming they could make a handheld with the new snapdragon chip that is a lil bit faster then appels A17 that runs AAA Games
