Every body out here lusting over Ferraris and Lambos and all I want is a "replica" of the gray Beetle I drove in high school blinged out with a bonkers V8 hanging out of the rear end! LOL!!!
Ur not alone in this world my friend. I can name 50 cars that don't have any Ferrari or lambo status that I would rather have being it original or updated to mad man specs.
I want my '74 Beetle that I got in 1984 with 12,000 miles on it, but in that condition, not in the condition it was in 19 hours after I got my license after bouncing off both guardrails of a bridge..
Maaaan I still have my 71 I drove in high school, I’m 42 now. Once I finish my 68 mustang for my daughter I’ll be shipping you guys the whole car because I’m TIRED of wrenching! Amazing build!!❤
Around '72 some guy in Cape Town took a Studebaker Lark motor (about 283CI) and built a front engined V8 Beetle. From what I saw and heard, it was more than a bit of a dog. Especially as far as cornering - would transition from straight line understear to back end coming around 360 degrees and would break rear traction if you even thought about using the accelerator. Back then the only transaxel box available (not including exotics like the Hewlands) was the VW one - Audi et al were not making transaxels like that yet. In fact I dont think that Audi was ever making cars at that time. There were a lot of really weird home builds those years. But this build looks like it is very professionally done - congratulations.
Absolutely bloody awesome fellas! If l had the gold l would order this yesterday. Cheers from New Zealand. Just as a metter of interest, has anyone down this way ordered one?
I remember when I was a younger, friends had a VW Beetle for making dune buggy but in a area where winter is cold, there was no heat 😁. But when you were young, it didn't matter ‼️
I want one for Christmas santa...I've been good boy this year...I remembering when was kid making lowered bug model car...it was pink from box I tinted windows...put super wide wheels in rear skinnys up front...I still remember it! Beetles are Coolest!

this is great, i love it when someone comes up with a kit for you to build or the complete car. now im one of those old farts that's been around about as long as dirt so ive seen a lot of automotive ideas and company's come and go. this concept with the chassis and vw body etc is so much like a company here in this country it's almost like you guys may have been related. i'm speaking of the old Kelmark company, they manufactured a chassis that was built on the specs of the vw chassis,ie, it was said you could actually bolt a vw body on their chassis. it used a olds tornado eng and trans set behind the driver. they also built a body that would bolt on, made of fiberglass. i have one of their old pamphlets somewhere, i believe there were more than on body available. i think they also made adapters for using a different transaxle. this was many years ago but i still see ads in places for kelmark products someone has found or kept. this was maybe 1969 through the late 50s, seems like they also made mid engine corvair kits.
I remember Kelmark Corvair kits well, as a neighbor had one in his ‘66 With a built 327 small Block making around 370 hp with dual Holley carbs on it. That thing was a ROCKET, & we embarrassed more than a few high end car owners back in the late ‘70’s in that car. This kit here looks Way Cool !! 😎👍
My uncle Archie and his buddy, put a 396 chevy engine in a V.W. Beetle back when I was a teenager back in the Late 80's, they couldnt keep in on the road back then with so much torque and power!!
So happy I came across your channel. Will you be doing any Karmman Ghias???? I have a 1966 that needs restoration but I wanna make it my way/your way stealth-sleeper.
Awesome job! I was born in Mexico (hence my name) and I grew up with this fabulous bugs everywhere and loved them all but unfortunately we were in the low end of the country populous and I could only imagine how beautiful it would be to ride one, things have changed for the better but my question is how do I order a turn key in the USA?

Back in 1972 my friend had a 1953 split window beetle completely stripped down to only a driver and passenger seat and they were plastic bucket seats, the entire front trunk area was cut out except for what was needed for suspension and steering, no back seat no door panels, just stripped raw. Lowered all primer gray skinny ass tires black VW rims and a 1969 911 Porsche engine, it was like riding in a tin can with a dual carb 911. You felt every pebble on the road and the wind. He would love to pull up to shiny new muscle cars with the big wide tires and challenge them, they would laugh at his old bug, but when the light turned green he’d blow them away. Looked like shit but mechanically it was sound and tight
For me it's amazing construction! Congratulations for the owner the project, however the Fusca was assembly with a lot configuration in this case are other one with a total transformation on the power train and chassis this improvement comes to attend the new engine remember me the bubble for nascar race cars, in other hands is amazing construction and take care with all items completely good criteria and engineering concepts outstanding job! Tank you for sharing your job!
Wow this is so different and widely amazing . I really enjoy the mesh up of all the different technologies all in one superb piece. Sadly as we get older the gas powered car will be a thing of the past

1. How's the leg room for 6'2+ drivers with 34" inseams? 2. Is there any way to get the steering wheel significantly higher (chin level) on such a man, as well as 4-6 inches closer? 3. Can you or do you have one with an offset firewall so there's more cabin space while only fitting a V6? Given the light weight of this, you definitely don't need V8 power, and an LV3 (LS-based 2014+ V6) can make 375hp with simple, off-the-shelf parts. Another example option would be a Honda J35. 4. Why not make or have a rear-engine version? Surely you could engineer or offset the weight so it'd be 40/60 F/R if you jammed basically everything BUT the engine in the nose.
Have you had to modify the chassis to fit the LS motor? If so, in what way? P.s - I'm one of the 1.5%. Come on folks, subscribe so we can get more of this great content.
Thanks@@kasuraga, it is indeed ver cool stuff. However, I was meaning are there differences between the Audi V8 power train and the GM LS3 power train? I believe the LS3 motor is significantly longer than the Audi V8.
@@JakobusVdL can't be that much longer. Looking at around 0:40, seems to be plenty of clearance in front. I'm guessing they have custom engine mounts depending on the powertrain.
@@MarkoVukovic0 Thanks for your comment, however you're assuming the chassis for the LS3 powered car is no different from that for the Audi powered car. I'm asking if that is the case - do you know?
@@JakobusVdL the original chassis was adapted to accommodate both using only different mounting hardware, as I understand it. Hopefully they will chime in to confirm.
Do you have an option that is minus the just the body?? also are there any other american V8 options; Mercury Racing SB4 7.0L crate engine (which an LS based V8 with DOHC), or an LS7 which uses a dry sump oil system. Also any option for a sequential manual trans. Awesome craftsmanship BTW.
Also curious as to why you don't use any kind heat shielding around the exhaust. Also what kind of gauge set up do you use; Speedo, Tach, engine temp voltmeter, etc... I like have the usual full suite of gauges on my performance cars.

Excellent job , great way to bring the beetle back to life . Such a great looking car
I love how the chassis was CNC lazer jet cut and assembled! Nothing is the original Beetle but it is still cute!
Very interesting I will say but I'm kinda curious about how well the aluminum chassis will handle the V8 power and added stress from the power... 🤔
