He was notoriously lousy at his achemimics which put him in a class of rejected "corner boys" with one chick in the group of corner "boys" for some reason. Where does he belong. Probably like he said "dead," When that teacher asked "where do you see yourself in 10 years". Though, Namond was the only one at the end of season 5 unscathed. So what's up with that.
William Woods he wasn’t lousy at academics, he was just never given the right opportunity to actually learn important stuff. His mother wanted him to live up to his father‘s image and practically forced him to stay on the corner, living a life which he never wanted. It made him insecure to the point where he got automatically rebellious towards and rejected any authority figure in his life besides his mom and made him feel the need to put on this tough corner boy facade when all he really needed was someone who actually cared for his well being. He knew he wasn't made for the game long before anybody else.
he already knew nay was weak, but in the hood, you need EVIDENCE before you either praise or put a mf down. he gave nay the chance to show he was NOT weak, but nay showed he was weak. thats basically how it goes.
@@Kommunik8MoorNamond was trying to handle it another way. He was probably going to have Kenard payback the loss with interest. Michael beating up Kenard made him have the realization that Stringer never fully got. That you cannot reform or outmaneuver the rules of the game. He moved his corner a couple blocks to avoid going to war with a crew working for Marlo. Stringer suggested that to Avon. Avon said "what is that going to make us look like." When Namond moved his corner. That made Kenard think he was weak and he attempted to rob him.
The backround chatter is funny because they are literally kids fighting in the eyes of adults. But they are working in an adult business. It's like seeing the kids from stranger things fist fighting over a CEO job.
That scene just goes to show you that for little kids to think it's cool to act hard and hang around grown folks that are deeply involved in criminal activity, that this type of SHIT CAN HAPPEN,it was hard to watch but EXTREMLY REALISTIC,I know you sit back and think these cats gonna look out for you and take you under their wing, that shit don't go down like that all the time. The majority of the time it don't. That in my opinion was proably one of the most realistic scenes from the wire.
kenard wasn't that young he was around 11 years old at the time and michael lee was between 13-14. it is if a 7thgrader gets into fight qith a 5thgrader. that type of stuff do happen a lot, michael was not grown either if you think so. he is just bigger. rather kernard goes to show how much of a bully he was and if he could he would eat namond and them alive.
Lol.. If it was a kid like Dukie or Randy, it would be hard to watch, but a little shit like Kenard. Made me wish I was the same age as him so I could condemn his face. Make him remember that Respect goes a long way.
Micheal didn't like anyone disrespecting his friends, even if it was other friends. Micheal fought the boys who was going to jump Randy, hit Kenard mouthing off to Namond, and then Namond when he picked on Dukie.
I was glad to see Kenard get his ass beat. Think about that - a storyline so compelling, well written and well acted that I actually ENJOYED seeing a kid get beat up. This show was intense, man.
VERY GOOD OBSERVATION, I never noticed that, good eye, especially since they only show him without a jacket for not even a whole second, I noticed that he than has his jacket back on at 0:32
Its possible due to the size of the jacket that during the beating the top fell past his shoulders and the fall re positioned it up again. But this is probably just a continuity error in editing.
I love the little subtleties that lead up to kenard ripping off naamond. Like kenard saw naamond let michaels mom go with $6, heard bodie saying that naamond can't be having his mom do the talking for him anymore, naamond asking kenard how he would look with his haircut. kenard was a punk and a little shit, but he was hard. he saw right through naamond and realized how soft he was and how he wasn't cut out for the game at all. naamond was older and bigger than kenard, but kenard still saw him as easy prey.
And SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT................................................................................................**this is why the writers had such a young, savvy but ill prepared character do the do on you know who, everyone's favorite Robin Hood with a code...SPOILER ALERT, Omar. The streets keep getting worse, nobody with any respect or code or rules, etc. Even Nammond's dad Webey (?) tells him, "back in the day, a punk like Marlo pulled some of his shit, he'd end up (dead, basically)". Marlo was what, 15 or whatever hitting the scene, I forget? Either way, they keep getting younger, smaller, and it is all the sadder.
Namond wasnt brought out like the rest of the boys. He was in a cocoon his whole life, his father being a well known and respected killer so I can't imagine anyone off the street coming to Nae's face on some foul shit ever. The boy grew up peacefully with money, well fed, fancy clothes and video games, not having to care about any dangers from the outside world (like any kid shouldn't have to in a perfect world). So I can understand his reaction when watching one of his best friends hurting that child he used to hang around as well. That wasn't really his world for real. He never suffered from shit so he doesn't understand making somebody else suffer. He was right to run away. That's what saved him. Mike is different, he came from a broken home, poverty, nobody ever cared for him, not even his moms. All he ever had was a little brother to look after. He didn't get to be a kid for too long. He had to become the man of the house. A man that had his manhood stolen from him at a early age by his step father. Mike is in the street to claim his shit back and he's ready to hurt anybody trying to step to him. Was he born with the same advantages than Namond, Mike would've done wonders in school, as smart, athletic, focused and charming as he was. But life decided different. Best show of all time.
Exactly!! All tht lil PUNK was doing was living off his daddy's reputation! I've known a few pussies like tht myself growing up in the bricks, they act soo tough. But as soon as u bring it to them, they freeze up nd try to tlk their way out of a problem.. Straight bitches!!!
Weebay’s rep kept Namond selling drugs and supporting the lifestyle his mother wanted, but his life wasn’t in jeopardy to the point where it needed to be kept alive. He wasn’t doing hardcore shit like Michael, where you can say “Man if it wasn’t for WeeBay, he’d be dead”.
@@stevenjonesj.r2759 Honestly you got think About his situation With his mom she forced him in that lifestyle He had no choice really, until the retired Cop had a meeting with Wee bey in prison, And he changed His life, The streets Are not for everybody Thats why they created sidewalks💯💯💯
It’s so interesting the Namond was initially presented as the biggest jerk of the main 4 and the one with the least positive traits. Only for it to slowly be revealed that it’s all an act because he feels the need to look tough, and in reality he’s just as kind and innocent as Duke, Randy, and Michael were at the start of s4. Of course all the boys deserved a happy ending, but I am glad that at least one of them made it out.
In hindsight I'd agree however, with plethora of shows over the years and how they end, i can live with the wires!!! Too often writers get lazy drag out meaningless climaxes to where it becomes redundant and predictable... Game of thrones is a recent example of a show not knowing when and how to finish strong..... Same for Vikings.... After ragnar died shows over....... Then maybe the idea of spinoffs would do justice..... More character development, creating writing ,and if based on historical events more time to gather facts then insert ideal probable causes..... In a nutshell till this day The Wire ended on such a high frequency that it still has us analyzing each scene every characters lines, backstory, futures etc.... Us not knowing the what ifs for soo many likeable characters is the eureka side of it all😂😂😂😂 just more testament to how great this show is!!
This episode was 1 of the best Wire episodes. It's when Michael and Namond really became who they were going to be. Its also when Cutty officially realized he was a civilian.
Namond, Wallace and D'angelo were a lot alike. All three of them were generally nice guys who were born and raised in a tough environment and lived a lifestyle they were not built for. That's probably why in season 1 D'angelo and Wallace got along so well cause D'angelo saw himself in Wallace. Good thing Namond didn't suffer D and Wallace's fate. Respect to Bunny Colvin.
D Angelo was tough , intelligent and wanted a life outside of it all. Wallace wasloyal, respectful good friend. Namond was a weak sadistic bully and show of. Complete opposite of the others.
The saddest part about this scene is Mike face of disappointment- his boy doing all that talking for the pack and Mike handles it and then his man don’t wanna follow thru - that was disrespect - that’s ya man
Of he isn't a fuckin animal, depends on how ya wanna look at it. He's gonna be doin grea t in life while his corner friends are either dead or getting their sh it pushed in in jail

Ryan Dobermann Some code. lol. He would also wear a wire to get back at you which isn't cool. Can't play both sides man. He got all emotional when they tortured his little boyfriend Brandon. It's not like Brandon wasn't a part of the robbery. lol. We'll agree to disagree.
@Rob M Where did you get your law degree from? There is NO WAY that even if he is a kid he is getting away with cold blooded premeditated murder, obviously he would not get the full sentence of a adult and would most likely be out by the time he turned 18 but he would DEFINITELY do some form of time.
+kugashira101 he brought the hip hop swag the role deserved. cheese & rawls had some of the best lines on the wire. thoroughly convincing performances. thinking about it, the wire was littered with top notch acting & writing. unfair to single out individual performances. only fair you label me a hypocrite.lol boy, I miss the wire!!!!!!!

he already knew nay was weak, but in the hood, you need EVIDENCE before you either praise or put a mf down. he gave nay the chance to show he was NOT weak, but nay showed he was weak. thats basically how it goes.
Just saw what you said. Never knew it either until now! This show never gets old, only better...
0:41 Michael's like "I just beat the shit out of a toddler for nothing"
HYENAS he beat him because he stole from his boy and talked shit like there was no consequences for his actions.
Demogorgon up my ass gump
I love how there is always this Boondocks ad-lib guy in the background when shit like this goes down 🤣
Kenard was pretty hardcore. But Michael was the definition of it.
@Jimmy Strudel first of all who the fuckis bernard bro? its KEnard. second of all, everyone respected kenard. did u even watch the show bro
@Jimmy Strudel you could be trolling with this comment loll but if not here's my reaction anyway 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Marlo thought he was Gangsta but Omar was definition of it
@@deathrager2404 Kenard tried to light a cat on fire, and killed Omar. Fuck Kenard.
That in my opinion was proably one of the most realistic scenes from the wire.
kenard wasn't that young he was around 11 years old at the time and michael lee was between 13-14. it is if a 7thgrader gets into fight qith a 5thgrader. that type of stuff do happen a lot, michael was not grown either if you think so. he is just bigger. rather kernard goes to show how much of a bully he was and if he could he would eat namond and them alive.
you see that in a lot females too then reality sets in when grown men react as if it was against another grown man.
@@SiccDeville theyre quick to play victim
Lol.. If it was a kid like Dukie or Randy, it would be hard to watch, but a little shit like Kenard. Made me wish I was the same age as him so I could condemn his face. Make him remember that Respect goes a long way.
LMAOOO the little baby grunts while Michael punches him 🤣 0:22
00:25 - jacket on
00:27 - jacket off
00:30 - jacket on
Lmaoo wtf ?
Beating was so strong he made his jacket appear and disappear
Mal-El you win
it was a tactic to confuse Mike, and it worked, he stopped beating him
No wonder your name is clever
Micheal didn't like anyone disrespecting his friends, even if it was other friends. Micheal fought the boys who was going to jump Randy, hit Kenard mouthing off to Namond, and then Namond when he picked on Dukie.
LOL the dude in the background at 0:24
@JaTorean Tv 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
That is one of my FAVORITE moments in the series. Because that is such a REAL thing. the commentary from the bystanders is so hood.
Boondocks type shit😅😅
I knew someone caught the background🤣🤣🤣
2 different phases in life : Namond still wanting to be the prankster bully. Michael has grown up and has no more time for the games .
0:20 when you find that toxic 12 year old talking trash over the mic
I was glad to see Kenard get his ass beat. Think about that - a storyline so compelling, well written and well acted that I actually ENJOYED seeing a kid get beat up. This show was intense, man.
Him screaming Nae had me weeeeeeeak
😫🤣🤣
you call that screaming?
at 00:26 kenard has black jacket on.
at 00:27 kenard has no black jacket on.
He's a fucking magician.
he beat it off him
+FoxyCD holy shit i never noticed that
VERY GOOD OBSERVATION, I never noticed that, good eye, especially since they only show him without a jacket for not even a whole second, I noticed that he than has his jacket back on at 0:32
+kharris20413 true you can hear the rustling of the jacket on the last two hits
Namond was forever a wannabe, but could never be about that life.
@@InVinoVeratas Namond was all talk, no walk.
If he's hard he can take the beating above just fine then. Ha.
Nun Ya marlo was not 15 when he first hit the scene lol. By the end of season 5 it’s revealed that he’s 24
Micheal wasn’t just a soldier, he was a one man army.
Best show of all time.
namond sweeter than sugar. Wey Beys rep def kept this boy alive
_Him (Namond)... from Wee Bey?!_ - Poot
Of course all the boys deserved a happy ending, but I am glad that at least one of them made it out.
needed one more season of the Wire Mike and Marlo go to war
That would’ve been fireworks, they definitely should’ve done that
Marlo was done. Narcs were on him tooo hard. Lawyer advised him to get out
In hindsight I'd agree however, with plethora of shows over the years and how they end, i can live with the wires!!! In a nutshell till this day The Wire ended on such a high frequency that it still has us analyzing each scene every characters lines, backstory, futures
etc.... Us not knowing the what ifs for soo many likeable characters is the eureka side of it all😂😂😂😂 just more testament to how great this show is!!
That could easily be a repetition and end up like all these other series, this separates the wire, ended in its prime.
Marlo was out of the game by the time Michael started doing the omar-incarnate thing.
The real reason Namond didn’t retrieve the package is cuz he actually thought the package was up Kenard’s ass.
😂😂😂
he missed a good opportunity to learn about the intimate details of prison life that every gangster needs to know
This scene definitely separated the boys from the men.
So it's "man-like" to savagely beat up a little kid who's incapable of defending himself?
@@hasselett If you fuck people over, expect to deal with the consequences. And it's not like Michael was an adult himself.
@Bacons Strip he was an old soul
@@hasselett did you even watch the show before making this stupid ass comment?
This episode was 1 of the best Wire episodes. It's when Michael and Namond really became who they were going to be. Its also when Cutty officially realized he was a civilian.
Thuliso Dingwall is a great actor. I find Kenard just as entertaining and interesting as any of the older charactes, More child actors like him please
Any time I'm feeling blue, or in a bad mood I watch this to cheer myself up.
Nah Dangelo was soft yes but he was not a punk like Namond, same with wallace
D Angelo was tough , intelligent and wanted a life outside of it all. Wallace wasloyal, respectful good friend. Namond was a weak sadistic bully and show of. Complete opposite of the others.
@@vincenthammons6705Namond was trying to use Stringer's logic in the game. The difference is he learned his lesson quickly.
Michael went Level 2 real quick 😂🤣
The saddest part about this scene is Mike face of disappointment- his boy doing all that talking for the pack and Mike handles it and then his man don’t wanna follow thru - that was disrespect - that’s ya man
yeah Nay is a massive bitch through and through
Of he isn't a fuckin animal, depends on how ya wanna look at it. He's gonna be doin grea t in life while his corner friends are either dead or getting their sh it pushed in in jail
@@mikeking4349 Well, if we are going by context. Everyone is just playing house and we all die anyway. So all that "doing great in life" ends with none of it.
Love Michael in the Wire. It was fun watching his Character grow.
This one is up there for one of the most deserving moments in the whole show
Mike was ahead of his time . Due to having to grow up quick take care of his bro . Underrated character.if show went another season he would have taken out marlo.
The guy in the background has me cracking up 😂
0:23 "look at that little dude getting his ass beat" LMAO
Kennard has all the potential to be the next-gen Bird.
My favorite Wire character is the unseen background voice always yelling stuff from the other side of the street. That guy should have his own spin-off.
"pandemic"
0:21 - those sounds boy is making are terrifying. Kenard was little shit no doubt, but at this moments I was totally like Namond, thinking "This shit is wrong, just stop man, it's a kid".
kid that tortures animals, kid that shot omar
FreeSkill Videos Omar killed people. He wasn't no angel. lol.
Ralph NYC
Revenge is the sweetest thing next to getting pussay !!!
He only killed for revenge and if they tried to kill him so he had to play or get played
but the man had a code !!
Kenard killed Omar a season ago. He ain't no little kid. He is in the game.

Weirdo
Gotta love Michael, man.
Kenard probably becomes the next Bird.
+The Super Star The next Cheese i think
+The Super Star yea kenard would turn into a savage no doubt 6 years later
Don Johnson
How long do you think Kenard's going to be sentenced for, knowing that he's just a kid and he probably won't get life?
The Super Star in Maryland Juveniles can be in till either 18 or 21 depending on the severity of the crime
@Rob M Where did you get your law degree from? There is NO WAY that even if he is a kid he is getting away with cold blooded premeditated murder, obviously he would not get the full sentence of a adult and would most likely be out by the time he turned 18 but he would DEFINITELY do some form of time.
00:26 " look at that lil nigga get his ass beat" lmao
Later, *Kenard* ends up working for *Michael*
Hope he has eyes in the back of his head just in case lil man decides one-day he wants some payback.
I literally watched this 18 times in a row.
the background voices are what makes this show awesome
im addicted to watching this scene. too funny
most satisfying scene in the WHOLE FUCKING SHOW
What about Valchek being beat
elemento188
Didn't he just get punched by Pezbo? He didn't really get his ass beat. On top of that, he gets promoted at the end.
Andiamo P
I actually liked Cheese... but only because he was played by Method Man. I'd hate him otherwise but Method's performance was just too good.
+kugashira101 he brought the hip hop swag the role deserved. cheese & rawls had some of the best lines on the wire. thoroughly convincing performances. thinking about it, the wire was littered with top notch acting & writing. unfair to single out individual performances. only fair you label me a hypocrite.lol
boy, I miss the wire!!!!!!!
This one of the greatest scenes on earth😭😂😭😂😭😂🔥🔥🔥
The moment both Mike and Naymond knew Namond just wasn't cut out for the life. Had Naymond got the package high fived Mike and laughed at Kenard as they walked away the two probably would of stayed tight from then on but Naymod was a gump.
Haven't seen all of the seasons yet but I think this moment is what got Naymond smack around like Anna-Mae after she refused to eat the cake.
The background niggas in the wire always hilarious as hell
One of the best scenes in the best season of TV I've ever seen.
the background voices in the wire are always the funniest shit ever
That squinty eyed look Michael gave him when he said “I don’t want it”
0:24 Man in the background: "Hey yo, look at that little dude getting his a** beaten, HaHaHa!"
I come back to this scene at least twice a week! 😂
We all know Kennard deserved way more than that lol
" Da streets aint for everyone..thats why they made sidewalks ...
" Cookie lyons")
"Shout out to the sidewalks for keeping me off the streets"
Lee Daniels stole that now infamous gangster quote from the 1st and original hood web series Money and Violence which aired on TH-cam before he put those words in Cookie’s mouth, because he knew the mainstream tv audience watching his show wouldn’t be the wiser to his thievery. The hood knew tho.

Low key kenard should not have survived that. Those punches were brutal
Nah Michael was still only a kid, he didn't have the size or strength to do that much damage. Even if he was bigger than Kenard, its not like getting punched by a grown man.
