I typically use my SHP9500's for music, movies, etc. but I got a set of Razer Nari Essential headphones, and they really fucking suck. I think I'm gonna send them back. They're brand new and after a full charge, they keep beeping at me about low battery. And they sound like muffled dog shit. And don't even get me started on the mic. Holy fuck, what a potato. Razer should be ashamed of themselves for ever trying to charge $100 for this turd of a headset. I got them for $35 and they STILL aren't worth that much.
Edit: Yep, that's it. I'm sending them back and getting the Steel Series Arctic 1. They're 50% off right now.

To my ears these 3rd Gen Air pods are more comfortable compared to the newer Pro version with the soft gel tips. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxgl8SzyQoymMu-S3V55Dskg5QJ8xr1yCR That said, compared to the 3rd Gen, I notice these do not stay planted in the ear as well. One design issue I think, is you squeeze the stem and click it twice to advance your songs. On 3rd gen you tap the large speaker. The difference is by grabbing the stem each time, you tend to loosen the bud fit in your ear. Not always, but the bud falls out a few times while running. The old tap to change never had that problem for me. I would not have changed that tap function. That said, the newer Pro version sticks in the ear, almost airtight if you want that. I do not like that Airtight fit. So that's why I'd stay with this version as the best trade off of comfort, use, and overall feel.

I've tried a lot of gaming headsets over the years. Wireless ones, wired ones, you name it.
I've come to the conclusion that, well, they all suck. Every last one of them. Doesn't matter if you spend $100, $200, or even $400, they've all got issues.
Most of them don't sound amazing. Every headset I've ever used seem to have lackluster crunchy underwater mics, and if the mics are good, we lead into durability issues, that seem to plague almost all of the headsets on the market. Sometimes it's the headband. Sometimes it's the coupling to the headband. More than likely it's the microphone, which stops muting when it flips up, or stops functioning entirely, or gets a static buzz over time.
I gave up. I bought Audio Technica ATH-M50xs, a Shure SM58, a mic desk arm boom on Amazon, and a Steinberg UR22 to plug the mic into. Expensive? Yes. $400 is a lot compared to some of the other options. But, I use them for music recording and such as well so it wasn't just for gaming. I think it was worth every penny. I'll never buy another goddamn gaming headset. The last 7 just turned me away. Brands, prices, didn't matter.

I have to agree, Corsair needs to set them up right from the start. with the Dolby Atmos spatial sound games sound really really good. I can't recommend BT 4.0 for connectivity issues (at least with old house walls), but the drivers are perfectly fine for everyday use including gaming and the NC isn't horrible pressure for no effect like other more expensive headsets I've had. It doesn't have a mic boom but I have a mic already, so didn't bother me at all.
Point is, it isn't the wireless that's expensive, it's all the extras they tack onto it. I'm kind of hoping they look at BT headsets that don't include the mic boom and aren't directed specifically at gamers, with battery-draining RGB.

Not the best, but a good option if your headphones are compatible. About the same quality but without the compatibility problems there is the Antlion ModMic Omni. The ModMic Uni is also ok if you apply EQ (cut the bass, boost the highs and use a couple notches to reduce resonances). If you really want good sound quality with the noise reduction and comfort of a gaming headset you have to DIY. Like soldering the capsule of a DPA 4088 to a ModMic.

My logitech G930 has no replaceable battery, the p-leather cup lining -flaked- disintergrated, after the headset had been out of use a while, when I put them on again. The lining didn't look any different, maybe dusty, but it just flaked off on my ears and shoulders exposing the foam underneath. So now the old G930 unit looks shaggy af ..it came with proprietary presets limited to a fairly narrow range of dated apps. But the OS system and newer games still hooked it in okay so it was fine on Ventrilo, Discord and them Voice apps. It still works, but materials fabrication quality and proprietary functionality leave me cold and the purchase cost was not 'cheap', nor was it 'competitive' compared to commercial market quality control in the audio pro/media industry. But these was the optimal wireless headset for pc gaming, back in the day. Everything for pc was made super cheesy and cheaptastic quality to bleed juniors and the must have schoolboy/girl segment. So I hope that has changed, given the pricing and build expectations of comparable product in the commercial sector. I love the doc for my A50. That easy charging feature was a huge selling point for me. The headset however gets jacked up few weeks requiring me to remember the button combo to hold for a while to force a reboot of the headset. It also has a built in game vs voice audio channel that just overcomplicates things that I wish I could just completely disable. Tried a G935, it was unstable and required moving dongle around or restarts occasionally to get the mic to respond. (Having a kvm to flip between work and home computers may have been causing confusion with it that the a50 never had a problem with.) Removing the logitech software did greatly reduce these problems. But the signal range was noticeably worse than the a50 such that I was no longer able to go upstairs to my kitchen during work meetings. Just started using the Nova 7x and so far I can confirm that the signal range does seem to be for me a little better than the a50 which I was already happy with.

I know people don't like being the special case but really I've never heard someone really complain about chat mics on headsets. Most people just don't care, If they want a good mic for recording they just buy a really good one. If they aren't recording they don't give a toss. Hence the manu guys dont give a toss.

@Cfilorvyls In the year 2020 it really is not a challenge to encode, wirelessly transmit, receive and decode high quality single channel audio in less than the 8 ms required before humans start being able to notice a delay. Especially not over short distances with both the sender and receiver being designed by the same company. Once the plastic slide the switch is on starts wearing, the physical connection isn't steady, the headset stops working, and the only solution is to buy another one or open the headset and try to fix the switch. The Corsair Virtuoso Wireless RGBs are pretty good, 7/10.
At first, they were super uncomfortable (and kind of painful) for me because the ear cups pressed against the top and bottom of my ears, but after about a week of use I don't feel the sensation at all anymore. Regardless, the ear cups really should have been tall ovals instead of circles. The padding is also a bit stiff, but it's far from the worst headset I've used as far as comfort goes. Another thing I should mention is that for pretty much all other headsets I've ever worn, I only have to extend the earcups three to five clicks down. For these, I typically have to use nine or ten clicks, and it only goes up to eleven (for a total of twelve settings per earcup including zero clicks), so if you have a large head, they may not be super comfortable (that's just speculation though).
Games and video sound pretty good, but music just sounds terrible compared to my Sony WH-1000XM3 (I'm not claiming to be an audiophile (they would laugh at me if I said I was and used that Sony pair), just more discerning than the average listener). Seriously, if you like hearing detail in songs, look somewhere else. Honestly you really shouldn't be looking at gaming headsets at all; I've never heard a gaming headset sound good for music listening. Given that, I would imagine that for casual listeners, these would be *fine*, certainly better than AirPods and the like. I don't really notice enough of a difference between wired and wireless, so I just use wireless most of the time.
The wireless latency is unnoticeable to me compared to wired. I actually mainly got these because the latency of the Sony pair over Bluetooth was pretty annoying. Just keep in mind that if you do plan on using them wirelessly, I would get a USB extender so the USB receiver has line-of-sight with the headset because at least in my set-up, having the receiver plugged in to the back of my PC would cause signal drops occasionally. I could also have it plugged into the front panel, but I don't like keeping things plugged into it as I find it a bit unsightly.
Charging via USB-C is really nice, but if you're charging while wearing the headset, the port is angled in such a way that the cable goes *back* towards your left shoulder instead of straight down which is really annoying. Charging also takes surprisingly long, but it's not a big deal if you get into the habit of remembering when to charge. I use the headset for anywhere from three to six hours a day with the RGB turned off and I probably have to charge it every four or five days.
I'm primarily a Linux user (Manjaro), and the headset works perfectly fine without the iCue software running all the time. I do have it installed on my Windows 11 virtual machine so I can change settings if I need to, but the headset saves RGB and sleep timer settings in its onboard memory. The biggest downside is that you don't get a battery indicator. It doesn't even show up in the Device Viewer in KDE Plasma like my Logitech G502 Lightspeed does (without using Logitech's G HUB software). The headset has a small status LED on the bottom of the left earcup and flashes green, orange, or red depending on the remaining charge and beeps every so often when the charge is low (I haven't paid attention to how often it is, but if I had to guess it's probably about every five or ten minutes so it's not super annoying).

The Astro A50s are definitely expensive, but they are amazing. SO comfortable, DON'T creak, are made of premium feeling strong materials, and have great 7.1 surround sound. The only problem I've had with Astros is that they're not loud enough at max volume. But to be fair they are definitely loud enough for games, just for movies they are sometimes not as loud as desired. Also with the previous generation of the A50s there were wireless connectivity issues that would cause the audio to cut out for a second or two. I've experienced this myself because my wireless router is in my room and it used to cause interference before I changed the wifi channel in the settings. However I hear that's fixed with the new ones and I plan to get them soon, and finally put my 4 year old gen 3 A50s to rest lmao. Btw after 4 years I still get full day battery life (15 hour battery life advertised on the box), which just impresses the fuck out of me. I love my Astros. 300 bucks well spent 4 years later.

pretty disappointing video, doesn't feel very well researched and the headsets weren't fairly tested. Yes, the Arctis 7's mic was backwards (probably not their fault) but hey still should have tested with the Arctis Pros. I've had the Arctis 7's for over a year now with over intense 9hr sessions and the headset never started to hurt or fall off into an uncomfortable position. They work like a dream for the first couple of months…but I’m trying to find alternatives because the Logitech software literally breaks the headphones but is mandatory for the surround sound unless you fiddle with the drivers or find an older software version and immediately turn off auto-update. Sometimes the mic doesn’t unmute unless you unplug the dongle, and recently the sound has cut out altogether and I don’t even know how I got it working again after 30 mins of frustration. Also got the Corsair Virtuoso. I live in a tiny house, I can't leave the room (12ft+) without increasingly frequent drop outs. Also for some reason near Max Charge and Low Charge, the headset will randomly lose audio for 2-5seconds + at a time. Also, battery life is closer to 12 hours than advertised 20 hours. Also at 0 charge, the headphones can take up to 5-10 minutes to turn on after being cabled up (regardless of being set to wire or usb mode). Also the (nicely braided) charging cable isn't exactly short, but it's no where near as long as cheaper competitors. Also if the headset does lose connection, the mic is automatically turned back on - potentially a barrel of laughs if you've ran to the toilet in the middle of a raid. Also.

A big reason why Astros are so popular with streamers is how consoles, mainly the Playstation 4 (not sure if this is the case with the xbox one) don't allow the audio from the HDMI to function while using a USB headset, so you need a separate audio output on your headset to get audio into an elgato or similar capture device. You can't use a headset for streaming if it just has a USB dongle on consoles.

I bought the Arctis 7 a bit more than 2 years ago and at first was quite happy with it. It is very comfortable, soundquality is nice, the mic is great and the overall design is amazing.
After about a year the charging-port broke off due to poor soldering. This meant, that i couldn't charge the headset anymore and because the mic only works when connected wirelessly, the product became useless.
The CS at Steelseries took forever to reply and then asked me to provide pictures of the broken part, for which i had to open up the headset, which they in turn used as an arguement to deny replacement/refund. After quite a bit of hassle, they eventually agreed to replace it.
One year later, the same problem occured and this time the product was just outside the warrenty period.
Instead of taking responsibility for selling a fundamentally flawed product, they simply shut me off with false simpathy and didn't even give me the chance to respond by marking the case as "solved".

Sure is not Logitech drivers or the terrible G Hub software, this happens constantly, sometimes I used for a week with no issues, sometimes is every single day, if you want to buy one, be aware of those issues...

No surprise it sounded bad. I have the Arctis 3 and the mic sounds 10x better than in this video and it should beat Arctis 7

I feel like one of the main purpose of gaming headsets, are their spatial audio, which wasn't covered at all.

Yea I feel you. I can say personally though the Arctis 7x is lacking in spacial audio and surround sound while that’s where Astro headsets really shine. There’s a steep price difference tho

They kept talking about "imaging" which I think was them referring to it

The cloud flights are also very comfortable, and with great reliabilty for me. They are also the best on xbox.

I've been debating on getting the Cloud Flight, is the audio really as bad as he's making it out to be? ML7 (an Overwatch streamer) uses them and likes them, which is what got me into them in the first place, but hearing that from a technical standpoint kinda has me feeling meh about it.

@@fabi_85 I've owned my hyperx cloud for about 2 years and in my opinion, the sound is very good. I am not an audiophile though.

@@fabi_85 Huh? I'm still to watch the video but no, it isn't bad at all. I got one of these 3 days ago and while no expectacular, it isn't bad at all even. Not only i use them with my Switch, but they're also perfect to use with surround content with Dolby Atmos and DTSX. The sound is balanced and clear

Had them for a few months and can't reallly say a bad thing about them. They sound nice, are very comfy, removable mic and 30 hours of battery. But havent tried the logitech one, maybe they really are much better.

Have my pair for a year. Also im no audiophile but the sound quality is great for me. One tip is tu update the drivers because some models dont ship with the latest ones and they improve mic and audio quality. I charge them every two or three days if I game all day and I never ran out of battery. Another tip, charge from a power bank so you can use them while charging

I have an arctis 7 and it's awesome, I don't regret buying it. The battery lasts forever, the sound and surround sound are great, the mic is good, EXCEPTIONAL build quality, long range etc.
    Overall great product
