For starters: Wireless and Auxilarry support 20hz-48,000hz in 16 bit audio, but while connected in USB mode, you get 20hz-96,000hz in 24 bit audio. The microphone is also slightly different on the SE version. The non SE version has a 4mm capsule size while the SE version has 9.5mm size. The sensitivity on the non SE is -40dB and on the SE version is -42dB.
@Dux Ad Regnum If you're lucky and have good hearing and are 10 year old. If you are let's say 20 year old then you're lucky if you can hear up to 17000Hz. Also most audiophile headphones go over 20000Hz(or 20KHz) because if I'm not wrong the end of frequency range sounds a bit worse, and if that part is the part you don't hear then it sounds good across all frequencies.

What matters is mostly driver quality, frequency response impedance and similar stuff, less important is bitrate and quality of media you are playing(if it's average MP3 320kpbs or if it's better(flac) and not some super shit 150+kpbs), on wireless ones which usually have a lot inferior sound for bigger price it can make small difference but usually not important. I bought the Non-se, non-xt version in black earlier this year. Whenever I talk to anyone in a Discord call for the first time, some people are convinced that I'm using a stand-alone USB microphone. Which is a huge compliment to the quality of the mic itself.
I’ve had mine since this review and still love it. I play COD Warzone and coms are just clear to my team and sounds amazing. the only downfall about it is comfort, if you have a big head like me..it might get a tad painful behind my earlobes after 2 hours of gaming. Other than that, they are built like a tank and looks stealthy and classy. 9/10 i would say. Love them
Went to Best Buy and picked up a set after watching this review and they’re everything I wanted in a PC headset. It’s a bummer that the white headset doesn’t come with a carrying bag, but I didn’t plan on leaving my desk with them anyways. They’re subtle with the white and gray but an appropriate amount of flashy with the RGB. It also helps that you can do a solid color if you don’t really want the whole rainbow transition thing. I like that in one headset you can do USB wireless, wired USB and 3.5mm headphone jack. Leaving me with a lot of options for use. Not sure what the mic quality is like though because I use an external microphone. They also feel nonexistent on your head, my last headset gave me a bit of a headache if I used it longer than 2 hours.
Just wanna give anyone with super large heads a "heads up" that the virtuoso line is pretty much a no go in terms of size. Every other headphone I own fits me on the largest headband setting (V moda M-100*just barely* , SHP9500, AKG K553 MKII, Sivga SV021, and Soundcore Q30) but these are nowhere near large enough even on the largest headband adjustment. I had to return them because of this.

@@SteveL11 hello sry for late reply, its a shame they strain ppls ears, otherwise its actually a good headset. The Drop + THX Panda Wireless Headphone is leagues better then anything. check DMS , BadSeed Tech and the Z Reviews (Drop+THX Panda _(Z Reviews)_ PLANAR + THX + MAGIC + TUNING + COMFORT + BLUETOOTH5 + $400 = PANDA) it is the best one and you can use a (recommended) THX amp to power it directly so you do not have delay in games because the 3.5mm bypases the internal THX,AAA-DAC-AMP.

the hardest part for me is i wear glasses and it's hard to find a headset that doesn't squeeze my glasses to the side of my head, i am waiting for a company rather it be Razer, Corsair, etc to make a good headset and make a headset comfortable for those who wear glasses.
Razer sells a set that has a notch for glasses not sure what Nari version it was. Nari Ultinayes have them i sold a few lairs not sure if the Nari normal version has the notch
ShinyBakaTaka I feel like you are compromising on the wrong product, maybe look at application specific (thin) frames... tell insurance it’s medically relevant. I’m sure they’ll believe you.
I have a pair of Philips X2 Fidelio and it’s comfortable to a point I couldn’t feel it on my ears with glasses on (picked it up when it was on sale for like 100$)
i laughed too because i have the sennheiser gsp550 which are open back wired headphones and the mic is actually amazing. I bought a pc cable for them (the pink and green 3.5mm cable) so i can run them through my creative soundblasterx ae-5 soundcard which makes them alot louder (they were a little too quiet for my liking) anyways long story short, they look pretty much identical to those sennheiser headphones except they have a wire and when he said "who's head is this shape?" i was like "mine" lmao
They usually break a little higher up for me, in my experience. The only headphones I've ever had that broke were some Razer headphones. They crack right on the length adjuster, cause of the thin plastic, and because they sit so tight to your head that you have to be extremely careful to not ruin them. Went through 4 Krakens in a row, getting them replaced everytime they broke untill I just got enough and went with the standard Voids, untill my cable eroded somehow, and then went with Elites, which by the way.. DO NOT BUY THE ELITES. These are the most miserable feckin things I've ever owned. They turn off on their own at random, even though the software indicates they're at full power, and you've made extra extra extra sure that the option for them to automatically turn off, is unselected.
thats how the "camera guy role" works. Many youtube channels do that, you edit the video with some "outtakes" to make it seem more like you're watching friends hangin out, I find it annoying but this is still a great channel outside of that. Thankfully Jay's videos are mostly informative, but some channels do that AND sell you stuff every 5 minutes.
Looks like these are made by Audio Technica and if they are then that's good. They look similar to DSR7BT and DSR9BT which I own. Both 7 and 9 are ear cooking experiences at long extended hours of use. Very detailed sound which I use them mostly for music. In a gaming setting it gives you a nice sense of space and environment with no ridiculous amount of bass to muddy up your experience.
Hey sir, I just wonder if there is any white noise problem at this headset? I got HyperX Cloud Flight S and it has horrible white noise/buzzing sound problem and I'll return it so looking for a new headset without that buzzing sound.
How do u like em? Only 2 things I don't like is the lack of bluetooth and the fact my ears touch the drivers...otherwise they're great all around headphones
Usually it just means that they use AES encryption which is in fact still military grade as there is no known attack, except brute-force and some side-channel.
I know this review is quite dated, but I've been looking for a solid pair of wireless headphones in the $200 range and seeing this review made me realize that I really wanted something like these. Simple in appearance, but amazing when being used AND still 3.5mm wired compatible in case I want them to be. Thank you for this. honestly for a pair of headphones that are coming up on 2 years of being made, I'm still blown away how nice they seem to be.
The hotswappable battery seemed gimmicky to me at first, but now that I have them, I love that I never-ever have to plug in my headphones to a USB cable at the end of the day or during a gaming session to recharge them.
@@jarrettmbarnett ikr! i wish more headsets did this, had the Logitech G933 before and it has a similar battery pack, seems very silly to not make it easily swappable too :D Its just such a gamechanger that eliminates cables from the headset entirely :)

It would be awesome if a dev team at Corsair would invite you to come design and test a headset with them. I suggest you try a relatively unknown brand call Nura - developed in Victoria, Australia by audio engineers these headphones are Bluetooth and wired and contain a lot of technology, including microphones that are so sensitive they are being used on the NASA Mars Rover mission. They also use a Tesla Valve. Other features include ANC (Active Noise Cancellation), in-ear and over ear fit (think of IEM's plus over ear headphones combined), Social Mode (turn off the ANC with touch), and touch controls on the Nura logo (left and right) - assignable. The biggest feature is customisable audio immersion from soft bass to head thumping bass where you feel it through your ears - fully customisable and can even turn it off. The App creates an audio profile of your hearing via tones response measurements. Here's an excerpt from how the technology works - "The nuraphone plays a range of tones into the ear, and then measures a very faint sound that your ear generates in response to these tones called the Otoacoustic Emission (OAE). This tiny signal originates in the cochlea and vibrates the ear drum, turning it into a speaker and playing sound back out of your ear. Yes our ears make sound! This sound is about 10,000 times smaller than the sound that went in." NOTE: I do not work for Nura but do own these headphones so thought I would recommend them. These are only sold online, not in retail stores. Read more here: www.nuraphone.com/products/nuraphone and how it works here: www.nuraphone.com/pages/how-it-works. These are headphones that you have to hear to believe.
They look like an amazing product for those who want a proper audio experience.. Good that they do the subscription thing too so you can break down the cost! £130-180 for Virtuoso's was the top end of my budget for my next headset.. £349 for those Nura ones.. got me tempted to say the least (only because of the subsciption option though!)
Think I've found the catch though.. 24 month contract plus upfront cost works out at the value of the headset, great, BUT the product only remains active whilst your subscription keeps running.. So you've got to carry on paying for the product after 2 years if you still want to use it but not replace.. Tough one!
Shaun Cooper there is no contract here in Australia as you pay month by month - www.nuraphone.com/products/nuranow but after 24 months you keep them / return them / upgrade and they just released their gaming microphone attachment www.nuraphone.com/products/gaming. If you don’t like the subscription model simply buy them outright but they are the best on the market,
@@scudsy2023 Yes not many do it - either pay around AU$500 for headphones or pay a subscription (no contract) per month and still own them down the track - www.nuraphone.com/products/nuraphone
I’m perfectly satisfied with the official Xbox wireless headset. With dual pairing it can pair to the proprietary Xbox or regular Bluetooth. Can be used for music, wireless calls with your phone, or your pc for gaming. Provides noise canceling and rich deep bass with volume and mixer controls. Has a mic mute button for those sudden bathroom calls 🤣🤣🤣 turns off automatically when not in use.
I have both of these in my opinion Virtuoso - Normal audio - Good mic - Litlle bass available Virtuoso SE - Normal mic - Good audio - lot more bass available
"Finally a wireless headset that doesn't suck" My Steelseries H Wireless are 4? 5? years old at this point. Took them on a deployment with me, too. I've only replaced the ear cups and head cushion after 3+ years of use, they started to degrade. I've put thousands of hours on these headphones, and they have stood the test of time. I recommend Steelseries to everyone now, because of these headphones. Best peripheral investment I've made thus far.
Mine recently died and I actually went stupid and paid the premium for the Arctis Pro Wireless just because I refuse to go wired tether again. But if these last 5 years again, like my own H series did. Money well spent

Jay should do MORE unboxing/reviews, this was actually very pleasant... I love it , when HE loves it, (The product on the table) because his inner kid-like passion comes out...
I've spent the last two days browsing headsets and it seems there is always a major con for each headset. I want Surround Sound, good battery life, good range, good EQ, good mic quality, mic monitoring, and comfort. It seems like at least one of these is always compromised.
18:39 "if ya want glowey then there you go" dont know why but his saying that phrase with that side look, crooked head, and crazy eyes just makes me laugh lol.
How are these better than my SteelSeries Arctis 7 ? Arctis 7 is actually better because the receiver has a 3.5mm jack, you plug in your speakers and your speakers work. When you switch on the headset it automatically shift from the speaker to the headset. And the same way when you're done gaming just switch off the headset and your speakers will turn on automatically. I love my Arctis 7, it was my first SteelSeries product and I have been recommending it to everyone ever since.
ive been using the artctis pro wireless headset for like 2 years religiously and i seriously love the fact the batteries are interchangeable. its so nice to never run out of juice. These virtuosos do like nice tho
The regular Arctis 7s is what I have which is a great headset overall but the pro, I had to return to Best Buy almost 6 times because they all broke on me, either being one side went out, the DAC got fried somehow etc.
I have the pro wireless which I got because I had to RMA another steelseries headset which broke. I had these for 1 year before they also broke but because I got them through an RMA I can't also RMA these, they're currently held together with superglue. Steelseries can eat my ass.
I literally bought these because I researched most wireless headsets only to find this video AFTER they arrived. Even in 2020 I agree with most of your point, mainly the audio volume.
@@carlosduran2800 From what I've experienced: The comfort is very good, despite the SE looking like they weigh a ton I can tell for a fact that my old Razer Nagi was WAAAAYY heavier than the Virtuoso. Take that sides cover off, flip the set to wired, hold the mute button for about 15 seconds, unplug the battery. Plug the battery back in and you will be back in business. As Jay was saying which I think most of us can agree with is that software should be looked into a bit further. Regardless, still a great headset.

If they added the ability for bluetooth dual connection, I would absolutely buy these immediately. One thing that Steelseries has that has kept me buying them is... the ability to have my USB wireless connection through their dac, with an 3.5mm input, and a bluetooth input all running simultaneously. The reason I like this so much is I can listen to my computer through the USB wireless, plug in my GoXLR through the dac, and then on top of that listen to my TV through the bluetooth option. How's your batterie life?

Your choice of headset (preferably with 3.5mm audio jack) + v moda boom pro mic = my definition of a perfect gaming headset.
No side tone. This is extremely important to certain people.
according to Hardware Canucks the mic on the non-SE headset is much better.
Its true, I had a Virtuoso non-se but I returned them back because problem with comfort. They do not sit well on my ears after 10 minutes, they create strain and its just an unpleasent experience, such a shame when the rest of the headset is quite good. But as with the deal on the mic, yeah its true it sounds more clear and has a nice crispness to it. Hardwarecanucks also pointed out theres issues with the comfort.
@@AlexanderPews Just wondering what you ended up with. I got the white Virtuoso for $140, it's great but the earpads overheats & strain my ears. I'm thinking about the Astro A50, Arctis Pro or Sennheiser GSP 670 but they're way too expensive, all twice the price of the Virtuoso.

This sound is about 10,000 times smaller than the sound that went in."
NOTE: I do not work for Nura but do own these headphones so thought I would recommend them.
If you don’t like the subscription model simply buy them outright but they are the best on the market,
@@SpeedfrkOne subscribe to own headphones wtf

When you switch on the headset it automatically shift from the speaker to the headset. And the same way when you're done gaming just switch off the headset and your speakers will turn on automatically.

Would love to see jay review the Steelseries Arctis Pro wireless. I went eith thise personally after trying these corsair ones. Would love to see the comaprison
I have been debating on whether to get these or the Arctis Pro wired+DAC, but it's a tough decision. I have been Leaning towards the Arctis Pro
I got a the artic pros a few months ago and I love them, software seems to be stable and love the swappable battery
tiptop Boi I ended up getting the Arctis Pros, I needed up having a chance to try on both and the Arctis were just so much more comfortable on my head, but I did get the the leather ear muffs from steelseries for them and that made the headset which was comfortable to begin with even more so
tiptop Boi Sadly I have not but if you live near a Bestbuy I think they might have all the headsets we’re talking about available to try on.
I just got a pair for my birthday. I was having a slight issue upon first use with some static feed back. I followed tbe troubleshooting guide to avail. I took inspiration from Jay and tried some things on my own. Turns out the headphones when wired so not like the 2.0 USB jack. Swapped it to 3.0 and it rocks.
"I LIKE BOATS" SHIRTS PLEASE!!!!!
As a gamer i like my headset light so i can game for hours without feeling uncomfortable and that's the only reason i will never switch out of my astro a50 but great review man.
The Astros sound way better. I have them, and I've tried the corsairs.
I still have my hyperx clouds 2 for 3 years they never let me down after throwing them a couple of times
Luis Valencia That’s a wired headset.
@@LuisValencia-uz3hp thats what i have, ive had it for 3 years and today it randomly started acting up, audio cutting in and out so im guessing its time for a new pair, overall great headset tho but i think in 2020 wireless will be the way to go
Just bought a pair of these, after watching this video. The SEs are amazing!
Thanks for the video!
how does these compare to SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless ?
Doc Holliday hmmm minecraft
@@Mistacel ?
Way better
The Steelseries are complete garbage. The only cool thing is it comes with two batteries so literally the headphones never die.
Corsair is much better
You didn’t review the non se version I heard the mic sounds better on the cheaper on
yep exactly what i was thinking
i heard that the cheaper version has a better mic? is this true?
According to hardware Canucks, yes
Woulda liked jay to touch on this a bit honestly. see if it verys from unit to unit or not.
Yep
yup, check comparisation on techpowerup
According to the specs, it's the same capsule.
That said, the housing design plays a HUGE role in how sound waves are guided to the capsule.
It's amazing, and I wish more headsets had this option, because at the end of the day the one thing steelseries doesn't do well, is their microphones. I absolutely hate the steelseries microphones, but I cant find a headset that has the features they have.
the XT version has bluetooth but is $100 more
Nice to hear Aluminium for once. I thought I was going insane because everyone else said aluminium
