      It is not exactly a guide but it is the run in which I tested my Italian strategy after AAT.
      I'll also try to answer some of your questions /doubts:
      Germany is supposed to occupy Poland and even France during the war, the reason we send our divisions is just to get ourselves some warscore for the peace conference.
      North Africa is largely irrelevant too and, once again, we only use it to improve our score.
      The solidity of this strategy stands in the fact that we really don't need to do anything special while Germany carries us through the war. The only thing we absolutely must do is invading the UK to end the war before the US join.
      How well we do during the war only determines how many territories we can claim in the peace conference, the bare minimum being all of the costal ones required for the Roman Empire!

    Something else I just remembered you can do during the invasion of the UK is turn off supplies from each port for allies, i.e., GER, etc. This slows or even stops them from sending any forces over, as they won't have many supplies to draw on. I just got my best war score so far, 67%. Sinking convoys helped a little, but not as much as I was hoping.

    I can't tell you how charming it is to hear you talking about italian places and units with your italian accent. Makes this a lot of fun. I don't have any DLC - is it still possible to recreate the roman empire without spies or the sophisticated re-integration features?

      Thank you!
      I believe you can follow most of the guide without dlcs, and spies are definitely not needed. The main issue will be with focuses. Sadly, as far as I know, without either "waking the tiger" or "by blood alone" you will not be able to unlock the decision to reform the Roman Empire.
      As for many paradox games, dlcs tend to become quite vital as time goes by.

    Paradox, the game developer, missed something about cargo ships: Cargo ships have a limited lifespan, even when not taking war into account. Sailing ships made during the 19th Century for trade between continents plied the seas on a commercial basis into the 1920s in the Pacific Ocean because they could still make an operating profit, but ultimately were replaced by steamships when lost at sea or were retired after an inspection revealed a problem that was not economical to repair.
    The great passenger steamships of the 1930s that survived WW2 were almost universally unseaworthy or uneconomical some 60 years on in the 1990s.
    Once built, a ship has a limited lifespan, partly determined by random events. The steamship Titanic for example infamously sank after scraping against an iceberg at night on its first voyage from the British isles to North America, and thus did not survive long enough to celebrate its 1-year anniversary of its first trip from the island of Great Britain to the island of Ireland.
    Something that Paradox might do is institute a ship cargo ship loss formula to somewhat emulate real life real life ship disasters and ship retirements. Once a year, any country with more than 20 sea convoys, whether or not in use, might under such a system have its convoys integer multiplied left to right by 63/64.
    Also, transfer of more than 20 sea convoys to another country would be interger multiplied left to right by 63/64. The idea here is that ships sent to another country would tend to be older ships that might have been already kept in use too long, and that an inspector would retire some such ships. (Such a transfer multiplication would also partly avoid a potential game exploit where ships might get sent at just the right time of year to avoid the annual 63/64 multiplication.)
    Example: You have 2,000 convoys on December 31 1940. Since 2000 is more than 20,
    2000 * 63 / 64 =
    126000 / 64 =
    1968, which is 32 less ships than 2000.
    In most cases, autonomy points in a puppet can usually also be partly reduced by building a cheap level 1 anti-air facility or by building a cheap level 1 airfield, which becomes yours if you annex your puppet.
    Short version: It is a little bit of a forced game exploit to have sea transports that have an infinite natural lifespan. Paradox should put some type of reasonable cap on cargo ship natural lifespan in Hearts of Iron 4. A system of a once a year left to right multiplication by 63 / 64 is one such possible scheme for assigning a reasonable lifespan to cargo ships, a scheme that gives a cargo ship an average lifespan of about 64 years, but other schemes can be put in place as well, and realistically 64 years is too long of an average natural cargo ship lifespan anyway, but is still much more realistic than an infinite natural lifespan.

    • @MachiavellianStrategist
      @MachiavellianStrategist  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that is not very accurate, but Paradox probably tried not to make it too complex. There is already a lot going on in this game, and convoys are not a big part of it in my opinion.
      I also agree that it is a bit of an exploit to use this system to annex puppets, buildings are indeed a valid and more "honest" alternative.
      But, just in case, it's good to know this system works too!

      It is not a huge difference, but by annexing it in a later war you can save some points in the peace conference at the end of WW2 and make sure Germany does not get any of their territories.

    Italy is so OP in this game, I never had it difficult, without even touching the Romanian Empire.
    My only issue (I know, I know, you see it coming...) is how we can succeed with the Italian navy in the Mediterranean. The RN is quite powerful, as is the French fleet. But sinking these task forces is so rewarding.
    Also, since, you're allied with Germany: I advise you always invade the UK from Weser-Ems city: this way you attack from the east, you cross two sea zones less defended and you don't lose as many ships than if you attack straight through the Channel. I always play ironman so I have no save: this way I'm sure I don't have a disaster.

    • @MachiavellianStrategist
      @MachiavellianStrategist  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, attacking from Germany is a little safer and there are no real disadvantages, so it might be the best choice if playing Ironman.
      Destroying the RN and the French fleet with Italy is surely possible with a proper dedicated setup and with naval bombers.
      It could make for a fun challenge, and it is surely satisfying.
      However, it is not usually in our best interests (unless we plan to go for a more historical WWII without an early UK invasion). Since the RN and the French fleet are going to become ours in the peace conference, the less we damage them the more we get!

    How do i gain more war score i only got 40%

    • @MachiavellianStrategist
      @MachiavellianStrategist  ปีที่แล้ว

      For the warscore the most important things are:
      - actively using your fighters to destroy as many enemy planes as possible. Prioritize regions with many enemy planes over supporting your own troops.
      - pushing everywhere together with Germany (get the claim on Poland so that you can start attacking them as soon as Germany does). Push in Africa, France and Syria from the very beginning.
      - casualties are actually good for the final score, both the ones you cause and the ones you take. Once we reform the Roman Empire we will never have to worry about manpower again.
      - The Invasion of the UK, Iraq and Iran are perfect to grind some more warscore, as Germany will not be involved.
      Finally, consider that the final warscore depends on a few things, you should aim to 50%+
      The 70% in my run is particularly good, but 40% is a bit low.
      But as long as you get everything you need for the Roman Empire, it is fine!
