Kid Icarus Uprising also still looks pretty damn impressive _but Nintendo apparently has dementia about this game ever existing._
To this day, I still feel like they should have ported _Star Fox Zero_ to the 3DS. The wonky control scheme could've easily been solved entirely through the 3DS' features. The top screen could be the standard third-person view for the ship while the bottom screen would emulate the first-person view from the Wii-U gamepad, and if you wanted to keep the motion controls intact aiming could be handled through the 3DS' gyro controls. It was honestly a missed opportunity and it's unfortunate that Zero has been left to languish on the Wii-U for almost a decade now.
Thats such a great point about the back-of-box explanation of the ports from other consoles. I remember as a kid, I always thought Mario 64 DS was so cool, but I had no idea why it was called "64." Great video. I have an only ever experienced Mario Maker 1 with the 3ds version so I have a bias for it. One example you forgot was Mario VS. Donkey Kong Tipping Stars. The interesting thing about that one was that it had cross buy between the two versions
When talking about the tangential games to the subject, I expected Scott to talk about Rodea the Sky Soldier, since that was a 3DS game ported to Wii U, but I suppose that’s the opposite of what this video’s about lol
Kirby’s Epic Yarn which was originally a Wii game actually was better on the 3DS! Also I feel that Super Smash Bros 3DS was the best port from Wii U, since it was made for handheld multiplayer and even had cross play with Wii U, although it’s mostly it’s own game!
Wasn't Scott's complaint about NES Remix 2 was that it featured too many heavy hitter titles, and that the original was better for featuring more obscure games
I remember trying to use Mario Maker for 3DS to try and help clear uncleared levels before the Wii U and 3DS servers shut down kinda knowing full well that course mode would be an uphill battle. (because I don't have a Wii U) I joined the Team 0% discord server only to be immediately be told that clearing a level on 3DS doesn't translate to a clear on Wii U I left wishing telling the dude who broke the news to me that I'd be cheering from afar
@@trashtrash2169It would've made sense tho, it's the sequel of a DS game and it didn't release on the DS's successor. Instead we got in on the Wii's successor. While we got a Wii game on the DS' successor. I think they Nintendo Switched up the consoles, apparently
Mario Maker for 3DS was the first way for me to play Mario Maker. I don't have a Wii U, although now it doesn't even matter because they're either releasing ports or making sequels that feel really similar to their initial games, on the Switch. But at the time I had no way of playing Mario Maker, and so I had gotten a New 2DS XL with Mario Maker. I was really happy, but dammit, not being able to share levels online is such a bitchy move. First of all, this was at the end of the 3DS' lifetime. Sure, we had gotten SOME titles released after the Switch came out, but nobody gives a rat's ass about those, especially since they are mostly ports. Even when MM3DS came out, Nintendo should have known that literally nobody is going to care about their 3DS and take it with them on the go anymore. And even then, why couldn't they have made it optional and kept online? The internet still works on the 3DS to this day, and it works perfectly fine too. They had no reason to strip the ONE selling point of Mario Maker to appease a gimmick that is now DEAD because nobody cares about it anymore. At the very least we have Mario Maker 2. Got it on day one and while I still can't share them yet due to not having Online, it's nice to know I CAN do it.
I got Mario Maker 3ds the day it released, and literally returned it the same day when I found out I couldn't use online features. It felt like a waste of time to build anything on it
It’s really funny how a lot of my 3ds games I had were of Wii U games and I never had a Wii U so it worked on me as a kid. I played the crap out of hyrule warriors on 3ds 😭
I never unlocked all the course objects in Mario Maker for 3DS because I got stuck on 8-1 in the Challenge Worlds… and I can’t be bothered to go back and try finishing the Challenge Worlds because Mario Maker 2 exists
I didn't own a Wii U so I got the 3DS Hyrule Warriors and had a good ass time? But I noticed on a regular 3DS it physically couldn't load enough enemies, which was a HUGE problem for missions where you had to kill 1,000 enemies in a time limit or whatever. And sometimes it would spawn them all in a straight line. On a New 3DS it's powerful enough to handle more stuff on screen and fixed most of the issues. It also held my attention for a long time until the Switch Definitive Edition came out and made it completely obsolete lol
fun fact: minecraft new 3ds edition is not based on the code of any other console version, it was actually based (albeit heavily modified) on pocket edition! which makes it even more funny that pocket edition ended up being rebranded to just "minecraft" and put on consoles.
I think for games like hyrule warriors legends they added more features to some of the 3ds ports because they had to make up for the fact that some of them were bad because they were on something weaker than the wii u which was where they were made first
The Hyrule Warriors Legends section was frustrating because you kept saying the port didn't work, but you didn't explain 'why'. Was it the framerate? Was it laggy? Is it hard to see?
Yoshi's Woolly World looks amazing in 3D! Too bad they took out coop, otherwise it would've been the definitive version for me. As it stands, the Wii U version is superior because of the coop play. Also, Minecraft would've been even cooler if it had 3D like they promised.
In the Doctor Who episode "Dalek", a thing that cannot feel happiness is given emotion through a DNA transfer. When it touches the sunlight for the first time ever, it declares "this is not life", and ends itself. This also is what the 3DS did after being made to run hyrule warriors.
I realized at exactly at 5:55 in this video that I have nostalgia for the Wii U era now Oh god I blame the NES Remix that was on the EShop for awhile and that every Nintendo youtuber used Also, Mario Maker 3DS feels like a Homebrew port If it was, it would he the coolest thing of all time but since it was full price, it is absolutely stupid

Hey Scott, not sure if you take suggestions but with the resurgence of the 3ds' popularity you should talk about the presentation and personality on the homescreen compared to the switch. You can tell the banger games on this system by what loadup animations looked like, some games had a full little 3d thing and others just a square pic with the games name, the switch has none of this
As someone who never got a Wii U in the first place, I'm glad that we got stuff like SMM 3DS and Ultimate Nes Remix. I think both work really well as mobile system titles.

@@Pikmin3388 not sarcasm they could’ve just split the game into 2 or 3 cartridges
Great video. I have an only ever experienced Mario Maker 1 with the 3ds version so I have a bias for it.
One example you forgot was Mario VS. Donkey Kong Tipping Stars. The interesting thing about that one was that it had cross buy between the two versions
I see a 3DS video, I click.
When talking about the tangential games to the subject, I expected Scott to talk about Rodea the Sky Soldier, since that was a 3DS game ported to Wii U, but I suppose that’s the opposite of what this video’s about lol
This entire channel is basically POV: you're an obsessed gamer
(because I don't have a Wii U) I joined the Team 0% discord server only to be immediately be told that clearing a level on 3DS doesn't translate to a clear on Wii U
I left wishing telling the dude who broke the news to me that I'd be cheering from afar
You should've mentioned desert island escape from AC New Leaf.
Scott: "Now we shall talk about a REAL man's game!"
Game: Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World
7:55 🚨 SCOTT PLAYING A VIDEO GAME 🚨
Minecraft New 3DS Edition is technically a mobile game on the 3DS since it's based on an older version of the Pocket Edition
I thought it was based off legacy
@@ryko1478 You can tell it's pocket cause of the differences in rendering and things like the old stonecutter being in that version
balls
I remember when these games had my heart tbh
I can't believe scott the woz didn't talk about Monster High New Ghoul in School. Best Wii U/ 3Ds crossgen game.
I want to see some more of Nintendo 3DS games on switch
I would have preferred a port of Kirby and the Rainbow Curse instead of Epic Yarn.
That's fucked.
@@trashtrash2169It would've made sense tho, it's the sequel of a DS game and it didn't release on the DS's successor. Instead we got in on the Wii's successor.
While we got a Wii game on the DS' successor.
I think they Nintendo Switched up the consoles, apparently
@@vittosphonecollection57289 Sure... Only one of the games mentioned is good though.
I’ve always thought this was such a strange trend with the switch just on the horizon, or having just came out!
honestly some of these were really good
Both great consoles
Can't wait for super scott maker for the 3ds
It felt like a waste of time to build anything on it
Well you couldn't share them, but you could play Wii U users' stages
I watched this on my GBA
It’s really funny how a lot of my 3ds games I had were of Wii U games and I never had a Wii U so it worked on me as a kid. I played the crap out of hyrule warriors on 3ds 😭
It’s about damn time that Scott talked about warioware gold
Mario & Sonic at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games for the 3DS has an exclusive story mode campaign, and is therefore the superior version for solo players.
Yoshi's wooly world, and Kirby's epic yarn are some of my favorites 3DS games.
I'd love to have NES remix ported to switch.
Dunno if this comment is serious but they wouldn’t do that because of their online service
100% serious. I love that game. @@conan8819
Yoshi's Woolly World looks amazing in 3D! Too bad they took out coop, otherwise it would've been the definitive version for me. As it stands, the Wii U version is superior because of the coop play. Also, Minecraft would've been even cooler if it had 3D like they promised.
i downloaded nes remix after this and it’s rly good thanks scott
HE DONT MISS
I love listening to Scott talk about captain toad 3ds port
This console game on handheld isn’t complete without Cobler snuggling up next to the cases
That Mario Maker 2DS is quite nice.
oh boy new scott in his stash!
that intro was too funny😂
In the Doctor Who episode "Dalek", a thing that cannot feel happiness is given emotion through a DNA transfer. When it touches the sunlight for the first time ever, it declares "this is not life", and ends itself. This also is what the 3DS did after being made to run hyrule warriors.
I love these stash videos
I realized at exactly at 5:55 in this video that I have nostalgia for the Wii U era now
Oh god
I blame the NES Remix that was on the EShop for awhile and that every Nintendo youtuber used
Also, Mario Maker 3DS feels like a Homebrew port
If it was, it would he the coolest thing of all time but since it was full price, it is absolutely stupid
These Stash channels have a great format. The full reviews with cutaways and every prop you could ever need are fantastic, but these don't feel like the "lesser" version.
So happy to see you are no longer sick bro - I look forward to you your content on the daily so thank you for outputting. Please create a JOIN or another funding program
On M&S Rio he said Switch instead of Wii U
Hey Scott, not sure if you take suggestions but with the resurgence of the 3ds' popularity you should talk about the presentation and personality on the homescreen compared to the switch. You can tell the banger games on this system by what loadup animations looked like, some games had a full little 3d thing and others just a square pic with the games name, the switch has none of this
25:39 For future reference, when Scott says he is dicking around, blowing off steam, messing around, or making his own fun, he really means murder.
As someone who never got a Wii U in the first place, I'm glad that we got stuff like SMM 3DS and Ultimate Nes Remix. I think both work really well as mobile system titles.
Hand the Woz
mario maker 3ds likely didn't include the amiibo costumes because all of the voice/sound clips for all the characters would take a massive toll on the small capacity of the cartridge
still my least favorite 3ds game though
I find that hard to believe when Smash 4 and Fire Emblem Echoes exist
Highly doubt that.
