Hi Mads, our CV19 lockdowns in Australia has given TH-cam the chance to throw wider viewing options at me. It is some 7 years since I caught the ferry from Denmark to Faroe's and Iceland, and I am still talking about the 3 weeks in 2020. Sadly, my father passed away 60 years ago, was a professional photographer in the old half/quarter frame and 35mm days, and he would have loved today's digital options. I travel while playing tennis, and I was lucky to befriend a French couple in Iceland with great equipment. My compositions were better, their quality far better, and we spent hours on the ferry home exchanging our digital memories. Only 6 months ago I returned from Ireland / Scotland / Shetland & Orkneys and it reminded me of the similarities yet more raw landscapes and harshness of lifestyles of further North. I assume one of your cameras is a drone, something I would like to use when I do more of Oz next year when we hopefully can travel.
That's absolutely stunning, need to go there one day ! Those at 9:44 remember me kind of Vík í Mýrdal. I thought nothing could blow my mind as Iceland but maybe Faroe Islands will... Thanks for all your videos, they're so inspiring ! Even if I'm not a photographer, I love watching them.
I love the presentation of your videos, so completely different than the norm. You tell us how to get there, the difficulties you might have and what equipment to take. Then each of your amazing images have all the settings. I truly believe all TH-camrs must work incredibly hard, but you go that extra step or 10. Brilliant videos, I wish I'd found you sooner.
Thanks so much Mark! :) I have no idea the amount of weeks upon weeks I've spend the last 9 months on videos for this channel :P But I do consider it my full-time job although it doesn't pay (for now ;)). I'm really happy you like the videos :)
Thanks Bobin. I wouldn't mind making some videos on my workflow, but all I know I've learned from other TH-cam videos so I'll basically just copy those :P
Beautiful pictures, and your pronounciation was quite good, so no need to apologize. :P :) I didn't appreciate how unique the landscape and weather is until after I moved away. Now, whenever I visit my family, I try to visit as many places as possible, before I have to go back home to Denmark. I love biology and gardening, so Denmark is pretty special to me in that way, because of the diverse flora and fauna compared to the Faroes, which has pretty low biodiversity due to the climate and northern latitude. :)
Wow another great video ! Love your pictures and what a beautiful guide for The Faroe Islands ! Thanks for sharing !!!! A fan from Reunion Island in the indian ocean
Mads just another breathtakingly stunning vlog. You certainly have opened up my eyes to the beauty of the Faroe Islands. Thank you for sharing this with us !
Mads Peter Iversen Great! So you visited 5 Islands total? I won't have too much time, only 7 full days. I'd love to stay more, but my friends and family would not appreciate it if I didn't also visit them in the USA, haha. Otherwise I'd stay in the Faroes for the full 3 weeks of my holiday.
I mainly only spent time on four islands. The last video will be about going with a helicopter and some practical stuff :) We did land on other islands with the helicopter, but didn't get to explore them.
You're welcome :). No and I suppose it's due to the lack of obvious scenery that primarily is shot in landscape photography. Although there are plenty of beautiful things to shoot, I find. Been doing it for a while just as a hobby and only recently acquired a proper camera and I love it!.
Mads! Thank you for sharing with us your amazing photo-journeys and tips. I can't stop watching the videos :) You're very inspiring person. Thanks once again and "have a great light" :)
Another amazing video. Very high production values... I can only imagine how much effort you put into this. I don't say this lightly but probably some of the best landscape photography videos I've seen in a while.
I was the 1000th person who liked this video! Thanks Mads, this is incredibly helpful for planning my trip in June... was it really necessary to call photographing waterfalls a 'wet pleasure', though? Just joking, you're amazing
Beautiful photo Mads. Thank you for sharing the journey and thoughts behind the images. I like your approach to taking the photos. I really like the photo of you standing in front of the waterfall (vertical orientation) at 7:51, I wish you were wearing a more bright jacket to make it pop a little bit more. That's just my opinion, and the subtle colours work as well... the bluish jacket absorbs in the scene making it look tranquil. Thanks for sharing once again.
I am surprised that you didn't post a photograph, with the town in the foreground at the last location ? Not withstanding the fabulous images in the Vlog 👌!
Great vid again. Keeping your videos around 5-15min is perfect for viewing and getting the most of it. You made me want to visit the Faroe. Is october/november still ok for a lonely photo trip or is it too cold/dark/bad weather ?
I just saw this video on home page. I follow lot of photography channels and Thomas Heaton is my favorite. I hope your channel will also grow like his or even bigger
Impressive video again! I am really enjoying these episodes of Faroe Islands, as I am planning to visit this summer. By any chance do you have a google maps link of all the places that you visited and showcased in these episodes? It will be really helpful to me and possibly everyone who is visiting these beautiful islands. Thank you very much for these videos!
Fantastic series of videos! Can I ask how you determine your focus area for your photos? They all seem sharp with good dof and you shoot at various apertures so obviously not using hyperfocal, so do you just go for a 1/3rd into the scene or....? Many thanks
Very nice document. Beautiful but, above all, interesting. A very good idea to localize the images. Next year, I go to Iceland with Norröna and I plan to stay one week on the Faroe. Your document is really helpful and I shall buy your map. Thanks for all. Just a question: I am in Iceland from May 26 to June 25. I may spent one week in Faroe before or after this visit. According to you, which is the best moment?
Amazing photos as always. Amateur question: if you're shooting in manual mode and decide on your shutter speed and aperture, how do you know what IOS to have so it is correctly exposed. Is there some kind of calculation to do? How do you know?
Thanks a lot Flo! :) I don't think there's a way to calculate it since it depends on the amount of available light. IF I absolutely need to lock down both my aparture and shutter speed I normally just go for auto ISO and let the camera do the calculations. If that doesn't work I eyeball it or use the histogram :)
@madspeterivensen any chance you meant road 50 and not road 10 for Kaldbaksbotnur? On the map in the video, it says both 50 and 10 on the same blue section marked. That road is actually road 50 while the lower road is road 10 😂 Just trying to figure out if I can see this place 😬
hello there. I will be going to Faroe in June. Do you have a map of your posted locations where I can see distances more clearly? Also, do you recommend I take tours or just rent a car and explore the islands myself?
Hi, I have a map available for purchase via the links in the description or the end. I'll recommend getting a rental car. Check out my Q&A video from the Faroes :)
Does it get boring to get so many good conditions to work with? Let me tell you how exciting it is to be at these locations with the complete opposite experience every time….

You're very welcome! Yeah I hope these videos can work outside the photography community too ;)
Those sea stacks are incredible! What beautiful locations. I could look at that every day for the rest of my life.
Yes absolutely incredible indeed!
Yea I agree with Culinary Warrior, your videos are pure gold.
Thanks a bunch! What's your first name? :) Feels weird writing "Lindsten" ;)
Haha its Christian. This is like a account for my company, I also do photography.
Great pictures, can't wait for the next instalment.
Thanks Dave - the next one is already out ;)
Great shots. I really like how you describe a location, time of year, using a map. Would greatly help for anyone looking to find them later.
the last place is impressive. that cliff is massive. it must be impressive to be there in person.
It is indeed! :)
What an epic country.........

Thanks a lot Andrew! Much appreciated :)
Another beautiful video Mads ! Can't wait for a video on your workflow and learn much more on how you create these stunning images :-)
Thanks Bobin. I wouldn't mind making some videos on my workflow, but all I know I've learned from other TH-cam videos so I'll basically just copy those :P
Mads Peter Iversen Haha .. well you can't copy the images or the composition, can you ! So I wouldn't mind :D
Stunning images and really useful tips. Awesome work Mads!
Thank you Aritz! I hope you'll go there some day :)
Beautiful pictures, and your pronounciation was quite good, so no need to apologize. :P :)

Great video. I'm currently in the faroes and visited saksun yesterday and will be going to fossa today so perfect timing!
That's really cool! Hope you're having an awesome trip and GL shooting Fossa :)
great video as always! when is the next one on the faroe islands? i'm going in august so i'd love to see the other places you visited.
Dat Tran Next one next Tuesday :) And then the next 14 days after that and then the last another 14 days. So they should all be out before august :)

Once again, great video Mads. Next month I will shoot Iceland and Faroe Islands and your tips will be very useful to me. Thank you so much
You're very welcome Ricardo! Good luck! :)
Great video, Mads!. Lovely to see a Danish landscape photographer. Got yourself a new subscriber :). Keep up the inspiring work.
Thanks a lot Nicolai! Yeah I don't really see that many Danish landscape photographers compared to the other genres :)
You're welcome :).
No and I suppose it's due to the lack of obvious scenery that primarily is shot in landscape photography. Although there are plenty of beautiful things to shoot, I find. Been doing it for a while just as a hobby and only recently acquired a proper camera and I love it!.
wow! fantastic job!
Thanks a lot Adel :)
Mads! Thank you for sharing with us your amazing photo-journeys and tips. I can't stop watching the videos :)
You're very inspiring person. Thanks once again and "have a great light" :)
Haha that's good to hear! That means I've done a good job ;) I'm really happy you enjoy my work, thanks a lot :)
Wonderful Episode Mads!
Thanks so much! :)
Another amazing video. Very high production values... I can only imagine how much effort you put into this. I don't say this lightly but probably some of the best landscape photography videos I've seen in a while.
Thanks a lot Julian! That means a lot coming from a fellow TH-camr! :)
Great videos Mads! And of course: Superb photographs :)
Hans Gunnar Aslaksen thanks a lot! :)
super thanks
Superb video and photography, when are you coming to Scotland?
Thanks a lot Joe! I don't have anything planned right now, but would love to visit Scotland at some point!
Similar rugged atlantic coastline to Iceland and Faroes with innumerable islands that would really suit your style of photography.
Most definitely! I think I'll make a combined GB and Ireland trip at some point. There's quite a lot of locations I'd LOVE to visit over there :)
The last one reminds me of the 12 apostles in Australia
I was the 1000th person who liked this video! Thanks Mads, this is incredibly helpful for planning my trip in June... was it really necessary to call photographing waterfalls a 'wet pleasure', though? Just joking, you're amazing
I too am going in June....19-24th
Nice Work! :)
Thanks Szabo! :)
Lovely. Do you have any shots of the dead dolphins on the beach?
Beautiful photo Mads. Thank you for sharing the journey and thoughts behind the images. I like your approach to taking the photos. I really like the photo of you standing in front of the waterfall (vertical orientation) at 7:51, I wish you were wearing a more bright jacket to make it pop a little bit more. Thanks for sharing once again.
Thanks a lot Mujahid :) It's not me but my travel companion ;) Yeah I know the red/yellow are trending these days... I'm not really a fan though ;)
I am surprised that you didn't post a photograph, with the town in the foreground at the last location ?
Not withstanding the fabulous images in the Vlog 👌!
ELTIN JONES thanks, we didn't get to a position where it made sense :)
Great vid again. Keeping your videos around 5-15min is perfect for viewing and getting the most of it. You made me want to visit the Faroe. Is october/november still ok for a lonely photo trip or is it too cold/dark/bad weather ?
Marc Schmittbuhl I'm pretty sure it's not too dark and the weather is unpredictable ;)
Super!
Thank you Gheorghe :)
Just found your channel. Amazing content, Subscribed
Thanks a lot Amila! How did you find it? :)
I just saw this video on home page. I follow lot of photography channels and Thomas Heaton is my favorite. I hope your channel will also grow like his or even bigger
Thanks, nice to see TH-cam promotes my videos! Yeah Thomas is a brilliant storyteller!! I'm a great fan too!
Thanks a lot! Sadly no I don't, but I have added all the location names in the description so it should be easy to copy paste them :)
Have you added them in the description of just one video or all your videos? cause I don't see them in this video :(
Oh I thought I did. I'll just update all the descriptions :)
Now I remember why I didn't put them. They're all available on the maps in the videos ;)
That makes sense :) thank you for the prompt response and happy travels :)
Fantastic series of videos! Can I ask how you determine your focus area for your photos? They all seem sharp with good dof and you shoot at various apertures so obviously not using hyperfocal, so do you just go for a 1/3rd into the scene or....? Many thanks
i hope you gonna take a photograph and videos the whole beautiful scenery of faroe island. coz thats my plan this summer..:-)
Sadly I wasn't able to cover all of the Faroes, but the most common places will be present in my videos :)

Very nice, great inspiration for my future travel.
What would be the best time to visit ????
Basically any time. Summer and autumn the grass is greener.
Hey man! Really nice video :) When do you upload the next episode? Before sunday? Because I'll travel on sunday to the faroes =)
Hey Philipp, no I upload the Faroes videos every 14 days and my US videos every 14 days. It simply takes so long to make them.
Mads Peter Iversen No problem. I'm still really thankful for the two videos so far =)
Happy to hear that :)
Is most of your video shot with a drone? It is beautiful
Well all the aerial footage is :)
Amazing photos as always. Amateur question: if you're shooting in manual mode and decide on your shutter speed and aperture, how do you know what IOS to have so it is correctly exposed. Is there some kind of calculation to do? How do you know?

hello there.
Great info. I am hoping to visit the Faroes in2019 around September October time. Can I message you for a chat about them.
Do you have a favorite photograph from this video? :)
3:08 amazing picture
The one at oyggjarvegur point of view ! hard to choose one they all amazing
08:03 - but with so many quality images to pick from, it's hard to really pick a favourite. :-)
Liked both the shots with a glassy reflection on the sand (Saksun & Tjornuvik), especially the drone footage of Saksun gliding low over the sand.
Nice to hear :)
Flot, tak for turen :-)
Selv tak, har du set dem alle? :)
Ja flot arbejde :-)
Fant nettopp kanalen! Subbed!
Thank you Michael, welcome aboard! :)
Size (4X5) ???
I'll vote for Oyggjarvegur (3:36) Mads ! :-)
Awesome, nice! :)
Kingdom? pretty sure its a Queendom. oh well, nice series none the less
Does it get boring to get so many good conditions to work with? Let me tell you how exciting it is to be at these locations with the complete opposite experience every time….
