      THEY DOLPHIN KILLERS SHOOT A DRONE WITH A SHOTGUN WHEN SOMEONE TRYIED TO DOCUMENT THE MASS KILINGS OF CETACEANS IN FEROE.!!!
      MASS KILINGS OF DOLPHINS IN SUFFERING EVERY YEAR....THEY DON´T EVEN EAT THEM AND THROW IT AWAY BECAUSE THEIR POPULATION IS VERY LOW !!! THEY HAVE SHEEP ALL OVER THE ISLAND. THEY SPENT 140 MILLON EUROS IN CAR TUNELS AND ROADS BUT THEY STILL SLAUGHTER DOLPHINS FOR MEAT HAVING SHEEP AND MONEY ?
      THEY SAY IS TRADITION AND TEACH THEIR KIDS TO PUT AN AXE TO THE HEAD OF DOLPHINS ON THE BEACH. THEY KILLED 1500 LAST YEAR- BEASTS.

    Just remember to always let people know where, when and how long you expect to be on a hike especially if you are going out alone so people know aprox. where to look for you if something happenes. Also do NOT wear slippery clothes e.g. nylon rainwear and so on. As Mads said "Remember your brain"

    Hi Mads, Just wanted to add that while off season is great - like now March-April : few tourists, beautiful golden-brown colors, hotels and B&B not fully booked - it makes some plans impossible :
    * No boats are going to Mykines before 1st of May. Helicopter is an option but then there is no accommodation before May and flying twice the same day is not allowed. Maybe camping ?
    * Also, the "local economy" seems to start in April or May. 10 days ago, the cafeterias were still closed in Gasadalur and Gyogv and in the other villages I think there was simply nothing.
    I am glad I am visiting now before all these changes are enforced because , as jrskeide wrote, a guided tour is a no-go. Gave up Drangarnir and hiking in Koltur for that reason.

    Hi Mads, that is a lot of useful info you have put together especially about the fees to enter the popular locations. I can testify how dangerous it can be when I was with yourself an Nigel last month, particularly Drangarnir it was only by the grace of God and your good guidance that got me there and back, but what an epic trip!
    Thanks for all your videos on the Faroes, it is those that inspired me to go in the first place. Hope to see you on another trip.
    Cheers
    Richard.

    Thank you for another great video with spectacular scenery (I get goosebumps just listening to your wise warnings about falling). I really appreciate your respect for their environment and wildlife and your consideration of the locals and what I expect is a largely tourist-dependent, family-business economy ("Corporate America" just can't provide the same kind of "welcoming, personal, family-oriented service" as a small community can and "snubbing" Corporate America seems far less hurtful than snubbing the locals in the community that you are expecting to welcome your visit). You are a good Ambassador for their homeland.

    • @MadsPeterIversen
      @MadsPeterIversen  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Uf, I think you'll be disappointed. The last number I heard is tourism only accounts for 3% of the economy. The planes, airport, hotels, restaurants and groceries definitely benefit from tourists and many people up there would love to show the Faroes and show they're more than whale-killers, but the Faroes is also a relatively conservative society compared to the other Nordic countries.

      An international Declaration of Rights for Cetaceans was formulated in 2010 declaring dolphins and whales as “persons” to be afforded “non-human rights”, including freedom of movement and residence and not to be killed, captured, bred, or enslaved. A subsequent global movement for cetacean rights was launched in 2012.Aug 3, 2017

    -sourse: I'm a local.
    12:23 one more location to ad to the map, Æðuvík (also known as the christmas town because it is very well decorated during the month of December). It is the southernmost town/village in Eysturoy. It has a camping spot, so feel free to bring campers and go down into the fjord for some beatiful pictures

    Hey Mads, once again a great video! I'm wondering how you find new locations when you don't know a region. Do you look at photos of other photographers, do you search photos in google or instagram and what tools do you use? I'd very much appreciate if you could make a video and explain how to efficiently find new photo locations. All the best!

    I just google it. It costs 163 dollars (dec 2022) to rent a car for a day in the Faroe. 2 weeks ago it costed me about 45$ for same car/day in Gran Canaria. Those grassy cliffs look depressing to me (and wallet too haha)

    Hi Mads, great info thank you. Question about the fees and guide, as the hike on those locations will often result in a long photography session will those guides be ok with that? or are there time restrictions?. Thanks and now off to watch your other videos

    Thank you for the Island information. Very excited to go in August. One correction, cars are outrageously expensive by U.S. standards. Seems the most convenient places are at the small airport and one of the two gets really bad reviews. Too bad. Also, things seem to fill up fast in the high season. Also, DONT PISS OFF THE LOCALS!

    Glad I visit the Faroes already. I do not mind paying for this sights, but restrictions with guided tours is a major no-go for me. Prefer to go alone, and at the time I choose. (Suppose most photographers do) Curious how the will enforce this as there are several routes to access Trælanípan.

    Hi Mads your videos are always to informative and the Faroe Islands are certainly on my list of locations, just one for question, what is the recommended length for a trip, is 1 week good enough or should you rather go for 10-14 days?

    Such a beautiful place and such a shitty people slaughtered about 1.5 thousands of dolphins for nothing.

    • @MadsPeterIversen
      @MadsPeterIversen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      First of, yes, beautiful country. Secondly, it wasn't all of them who did it, it was a small minority and obviously people don't get that distinction and thirdly, it was not for nothing, they do eat the meat. I do agree they ought to not do it and eat something else and let the dolphins and whales swim.

    • @realzcat
      @realzcat 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MadsPeterIversen yes it wasn’t all of them for sure. And I do understand that people kill animals for food. I’m okay with that. But 1500 dolphins at once? Is it really for food? News has it that those dolphins and whales were meant to be marked to track their movements but the scientists said they don’t have enough manpower for such a huge amount of animals. So the hunters decided to kill all of them instead of letting them go.

    • @realzcat

      I personally wanted to visit Faroe as a photographer but after those news I am not so sure.
