  • Kalsoy in the Faroe Islands is not known for its diversity in compositional and creative choices. There are some fairly fixed focal points. However, there are plenty of opportunities for different foregrounds, light and weather conditions making this place around Kallur Lighthouse worth a visit each time! In this video I'll discuss the different choices I've made to my photographs from here in 2019.

That drone footage at the end shows just how limited a space you have to work in, and yet you can create such epic shots. Thanks for sharing Mads.

That grass looks very dramatic red, pretty brave creative choice 😄. Fascinating to see the season differences as was the subtle difference in the two images with the stronger lead in lines of the cropped pano. Great memories from that place 👍

Beautiful pictures, very informative and entertaining as usual. Just purchased your e-book and look forward to learning lots more. I am also red green colour blind, so for many years concentrated on black and white but then started using info panel numbers to check my work and give me confidence.

I was feeling a bit discouraged because I have had to do some major cropping lately as I have been doing some run and gun autumn photography from quick roadside stops where I often don't have the right lens or vantage point. I feel a bit better now. 😊

I am red-green colorblind also - it means that I cannot get very creative with color balance like some people do. I limit myself to changing color temp, and using the eyedropper on occasion. The upside is that B&W visualization comes more easily, or maybe that is just because I started shooting B&W 45 years ago...

A very enlightening video! Re the epic selfie: how large could you print it, since it's cropped to under 10 MP? I guess it proves that lots of MP may be overrated. Thanks!

As always your videos are superb. I think you at times make too much of balance. From my perspective, I didn't think that your panorama was unbalanced looking. I find it interesting to explore the photo. I liked your crop of it also but I enjoyed the panorama and would definitely display it on my walls.

Looks like your color blindness works in your favor! Large amounts of green grass can seem so simple but it can be really hard balancing it with the rest of the image’s colors.
