    Cut-Rate Commander - Episode 76 - Featuring Yargle and Multani from March of the Machine #mtg #commander #edh #mtgmom #mtgmachine
    It looks like we're planeswalking to Dominaria in this build to meet our commander - the weird but undoubtable powerful fusion of Yargle and Multani - who are currently demonstrating the the invading Phyrexian forces that raw and overwhelming power is sometimes all that is needed to crush an invasion.
    In this build, we’ll be aiming to convert our commanders massive 18 power into value for us and damage for our opponents. On the value side of things, we’ll be running a multitude of effects that care about the highest power creature we control to draw cards equal to its power, create tokens equal to its power, etc., providing us with enormous amounts of value via our commander just existing on the battlefield. Then on the damage side of things, we’ll be running quite a number of ways to weaponized our commanders 18 power into single target or AOE life loss/damage for our opponents, as well as more typical means of delivering commander damage by granting them trample / evasion to ensure our opponents life totals are always under constant threat. Couple that with a variety of means to return Yargle and Mulani back into play upon death (since a good number of our effects will require us to sac them) and handful of ways to remove our maximum and size (since we’ll be drawing 18 regularly) - and we’ll have our opponents bowing before our commanders overwhelming power in no time.
    Let me know if the comments below if you agree with my choices and/or what you would add to the deck instead. Also, let me know know who you would like to see next by voting on in the comments on the three choices of commander listed at the end of the video.

    Now this is a deck which puts some hair on your chest! I goldfished the deck and drew 36 cards in a single turn. Needless to say, that was extremely satisfying.
    I've seen a few budget builds for Y&M and I think your heavy focus on the reanimation tricks are my favourite build so far, well done indeed.
    Looking forward to the next few deck techs, as always.

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, the draw potential on this build is insane - in which we can easily draw near half of our deck in a single turn - making those hand limit removing cards less of a commodity and more of a necessity!
      Glad you enjoyed it!

      I agree. I've wanted to build a deck with a theme focusing on sacrificing the commander repeatedly, but I haven't had a commander I really wanted to build that idea around until Yargle and Multani was announced. It also allowed me to explore a different type of reanimation strategy using pre-death enchantments instead of the usual sorceries.

    • @GrazzetMTG

    Amazing deck. One card that comes to mind is Surestrike Trident. It will work wonders in this build, benefitting from effects that bring back Yargle from the grave untapped for explosive damage fling turns. And its not even that hard as you ramp like a maniac in the early game already.

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you enjoyed it and great suggestion! Surestrike Trident's first strike granting makes blocking Yargle and Multani even harder and the burn it provides certainly makes it that much easier to 2 shot our opponents (when thier powered up through other means). I may just have to try it out in the build myself!

  • @Paul24mny
    @Paul24mny ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome deck tech for sure! Definitely would suggest Dragon throne of tarkir - less than a dollar and makes yargle and multani give all your other creatures get +x/+x it’s power, and gives them trample! Think of it as a repeatable overwhelming stampede. Can also sac your buffed token creatures instead, and save the reanimate spells for if someone tries to kill our commander!

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you enjoyed it and awesome suggestion! We're rarely going to be cracking in with our commander unless we have lethal or its a safe attack (6 toughness is a lot but not enough to prevent them from being multi-blocked), so having a way to turn them into a gigantic Overrun once we have an established board is a solid way to continue getting extra value out of them.

  • @SeekerOf7ruth

    • @BobbyBev95

      Also I think including Sylvan Scrying as a way to always get Reliquary Tower might be worth an inclusion!

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  ปีที่แล้ว

      Having a few other high power creatures around to use as auxiliary sac outlets is a good idea, especially in you know your playgroup is fond of removing commander quickly - so having them in the deck (or at least on hand to swap them in before a game) is a indeed a good idea!

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Quite the immense chungus, helming quite an amazing deck! Big fan of how the value focus reflects Multani's part of the fusion, while the commander's ginormous power stat reflects Yargle's sheer fucking size.
    Well, looks like we have a new poll size... on ome hand, I am biased towards Glissa due to all the lore she has... on the other hand, Quintorius is my boy!
    I guess both can have half a vote?

      And regarding the desparking going on - oh boy I have theories! My bet is that, after this arc is said and done - sparks will be reignited for all planeswalkers - including a certain Elder Dragon who is currently trapped in the meditation realm - setting up Nicol Bolas as the next big bad after he regains his freedom.

  • @BalefulStr1x
    @BalefulStr1x ปีที่แล้ว

    Berserk and Commander's Plate are pretty nasty here. Berserk makes Yargle & Multani, at worst, a 36/6 trampler at the cost of dying at the end of turn. A small price for taking an opponent down, even those with substantial blockers. Commander's Plate provides protection from jeskai colours as well as making the froggy elemental a 21/9, at times a one-shot against those opponents with those colours of mana.

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  ปีที่แล้ว

      Both are very good suggestions that make it that much easier for our commander to one shot people through commander damage, with the formers end of turn sac effect being mitigated by on reanimation tricks and can even be used to power up our power matters sac effects if our commander survives the attack, and Commanders Plate providing excellent protection and evasion against a wide array of colors! Shame that they are both well out of budget, but hopefully they'll be in Commander Legends to help bring down the price!

    • @chasm9557
      @chasm9557 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your Hogaak deck is intending on sacrificing it repeatedly to get value, then on paper and without knowing anything else about your deck my initial thoughts are that it would be Yargle and Multani simply because it has greater power and therefore would gain more value faster than Hogaak.

    • @crovax1375
      @crovax1375 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chasm9557 Hogaak has that built reanimation though and that opens up different combo lines, like with Korozda Guildmage and Phyrexian Altar

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On paper. Hogaak is likely the better commander, since he enabled some pretty degenerate stuff from by virtue of just having a graveyard synergies and being able to reanimate himself. Still, Yargle and Multani are certainly more explosive, so it really depends on if you want a grindier game (Hogaak) or a more aggressive game (Yargle and Multani).
