    What year did they start testing the blood supply?

      Around 2012 and they only test first time donors.

    If the infected patient is Asymptomatic, then how does one think they have the disease? Are there certain symptoms that would indicate you have Chagas? The kissing bugs are found in and around rat and mouse nests. I know this because I had a ranch and a friend was bitten by one and she got very ill from the bite. Which prompted me to research this bug.

      this is the problem with Chagas disease. Its a "silent" disease that most don't know they have until they donate blood. Other disease are similarly "silent" until they are not e.g. hepatitis C or HIV

      @@solengarugarsubarbengabu2773 Not true. Chagas has been transmitted to mice by infected bed bugs. Bed bug feces, when checked by way of a microscopic examination, was found to be heavily loaded with Trypanosoma Cruzi.

    I have been bitten by a kissing bug and for three months I have experienced scattered muscle pains. Do I have to check by the doctor if I am positive for chagas decease?

    • @MedEasyAnas
      @MedEasyAnas 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Muscle aches, as far as I'm aware are not common symptoms of Chagas' diseases. But, it's well-advised to visit a doctor because the progression to Chronic Chagas' disease is potentially dangerous.

      In the US the MDs are usually ignorant, and don't believe me when I tell them I have Chagas.
      Then they run tests, which turn up negative, and they say, "See. I told you so."
      "B, but, but... I caught the very bug that bit me and put him into a jar... and yes, it was a kissing bug."
      "I'm going to order physical therapy for you. See you in six months."

    • @circusofsix
      @circusofsix ปีที่แล้ว

      there is a form on the cdc’s website that you and your doctor will have to fill out because the test gets sent to them. hope that helps.

    Years ago I was bitten by a eastern bloodsucking conenose that tested positive for carrying the parasite. I tested negative for Chagas at the time, but now I am worried that I might have a chronic case. Is it worth asking to be tested again? What is the point of there is no cure?

    • @mariepellerin2151

      If you are worried about a chronic case, it is worth being tested. Knowing whether or not you have it can help your doctor decide on your treatment.

      PS: Assassin bugs are Arthropoda. Important, because diatomaceous earth powder can kill Arthropoda. It has been used around houses safely, for many years, against fleas and other Arthropoda . Safer than pesticides. Look it up, do your research.

    I thought this insect only lived here in South America. It spread in the US and in Europe. I have a German friend who was playing with this insect. I warned of danger thanks to God she did not get infected with chagas

    • @6305angelito
      @6305angelito 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the triatomine insect that can carry the parasite that causes Chagas disease only lives in North, Central and South America. There are reduuvid bugs across the world, but not all are capable of carrying/transmitting the parasite.

    • @jm7859
      @jm7859 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These insects are also found here in the Philippines but there's not enough data about how widespread they are. We only found out when some foreign researcher has conducted an assessment in one area. As far as chaga desease, there's not enough public awareness. I got bitten for months without knowing what bit me because they only crawl when it's dark and they're very fast moving. Excellent at hide and seek. If not for an FB post from one of my friend, I wouldn't know what bit me. It turned out that I've been seeing this bug so often and didn't give a damn. Now my lymph nodes are swollen and the bitten areas became painful lumps.
