If he is, definitely neither Toronto nor Calgary
If I could choose one episode of House where they did a follow-up episode to see what happened to the patient, it would be this one. Love to see if he stayed a saint or became a jerk.
Or some middle ground. I'd love for her to be seen adjusting to him being an ordinary level of emotional response. Sometimes upset sometimes happy, a normal balance. Something she is absolutely not used to but has to come to terms with. Could even tie it up by her going to House to figure out if it's normal only for him to notice a symptom she has. The couple has a big fight then he says something like, "I don't care what happens to you, you were always there for me, and I'll always be there for you." Show that even an average person can be a saint when it's needed.
@@sleepy1697 this is a major very specific projection because we simply don't know and thankfully will never know.
I'd like to see what happened with Jack and his siblings. (Whac-a-mole) Like Foreman wanted to believe Jack would take them back - I think the same thing.
habit is huge, and hard to change. Just the practice he's had of being nice should greatly affect how he behaves.
@@lizacoates6837 Why is it thankful to get fewer episodes? Do you hate the show that much?
”House Cures Niceness” is the most House title ever
Absolutly sheer House
that's just House's everyday job
i liked when kutner had the theory that extreme jerkyness exist hence extreme niceness can also exist, just to call house a jerk and play his game of human evolution
Of course, while it's funny, Kutner does kinda make House's point for him: House isn't simply a massive jerk because he is just naturally that way. We know from what little background we have on him that he was always an insufferable know-it-all who thought he knew best, but he wasn't a complete jerk. Until his issues with his leg and the constant pain.
Existence of extreme jerkness being effective to reproduce doesn't necessarily imply extreme niceness. Thats like saying extremely strong people have an advantage so extremely weak people must have one to. Not theoretical advantages, actual ones that lead to outcompetition.
@@MichaelBrown-wx6zq no, bc in difference to strenght and weakness, niceness isnt better or worse than jerkness (unless you are quoting the ep but i dont remember it weel enough)
@@MichaelBrown-wx6zq niceness cna be advantageous, weakness can't. Niceness can get you a girl, friends, help when in need and such; humans are gregarious and we don't live in complete isolation having to fend for ourselves.
@@enriquejoseantequerasanche6180 Not sure what planet you're from, being nice never got anyone a girl.
That's why they say "Nice guys finish last". Also why there are so many videos/theories about needing to be a jerk to be successful. (steve jobs, tarantino, james cameron etc.)
Also there's a book on dating - "be the jerk that women love". There is no book called "Be the nice guy that women love".
Also, on the show, Taub makes a point of this utility:
"Give me 5 dollars. Kutner gives it to him. - See? Being selfish benefits me."
Man: I no longer like ketchup
Woman: We're not gonna make it
"Wonder what else I don't like"

But in seriousness: people are quantifiable. Water and sand-by-volume are not. (Sand, salt, sugar, etc. are technically quantifiable as granules/whatever macro-scale label of particles. Anything is theoretically quantifiable by particle count, i.e. water molecules, but practically they aren’t, and furthermore, “volume of water” and “number of water molecules” are essentially distinct topics of discussion.)
Basically: if you can reasonably measure it by count, or are otherwise measuring it by count (whether it’s necessary because it’s a collection of individuals - human or otherwise - or it’s unreasonable to be doing so but you are), it’s “fewer”. If it’s unquantifiable, measured by volume, or measured by weight/mass, it’s “less”.
“There are fewer particles of sand in this cup than this one.” “There is less sand in this cup than this one.”
House: "He's happy..."
Also House: "And I'm taking this personally"
How is joy a problem? Shouldn’t it be spread?
People nit pick that the plot lines of the show is predictable. Beyond the point of the show. The dialogue throughout is nothing short of dense, concise, as absolutely hilarious. Brilliant. GOAT
Yeah imagine the opposite. Patient comes in, is nice. House notices, doesn't care. Show ends. Just 45minutes of patients waiting to be treated by the genius doctor but it doesn't happen - just to have an unpredictable plot... who'd enjoy that
People that don't enjoy this show probably won't like Detective Columbo, or Sherlock Holmes. People don't come for the plot, they come for the puzzle.

tbf being too mean is just as evolutionary disadvantageous
Not necessarily. Depends on the species. Sheep survive if they have enough wool to fend off bites, and if animals are too mean, they lose the pack. Be too naive, you get taken advantage of and/or die.
@@antithoughtpolice7497isnt that what the OP said?
Isn't that what they were saying? It's a bell curve, and if House can be too much of a jerk, someone else can be too nice.
Indeed. Humans are a social species. If you're too insufferable, you'll get shunned, and suffer for it. The brain really really doesn't like not getting to socialize with other humans. Ostracization and isolation are painful, to punish that kind of behavior, in the same way positive social experiences feel rewarding to promote collaboration.
True. That's why autocrats/dictator pretend to be nice and use propaganda because they know it's unsustainable to be shitty to your people without facing any consequences.

I had a stroke but my face was fine
I dislike houses point here, and especially his caveman analogy. Sure, the caveman who smiles at the spear does because he was stupid, not because he was nice. The cavemen who find and share food, shelter, and water because they're nice? Who face threats together because they care for one another? They live the longest. House is a misanthrope, and he's way too smart to be out here trying to justify it
All good things in moderation, as they say. Be nice and helpful, but don't let yourself be taken advantage of. Be on guard against strangers, but don't go looking for a reason to kill someone. Know when to run, but also know when to stand your ground.
It's not necessarily niceness, it's because community means survival. Niceness is survival.
Stupid or nice it doesnt matter... that caveman had the lowest survival rate out of the 3. House's point is valid.
House’s point is that hes *too* nice, yeah those other cavemen are nice, but the cavemen who stays dies because he was too nice just like the patient is *too* nice
If the caveman was stupid not nice then he wouldn't have offered to make him fondue.
This is one of the few House episodes I just don’t look forward to seeing, for some reason. Don’t know what episodes were scuttled because of the Writer’s Strike, but this one seemed like a plug-in for something a lot more interesting, part of a larger arc.
Would of been a good one for sure
I've forgotten, was House's crack about 13 being 31 was because he recently learned she was bisexual and could therefore "go either way"?

Can someone explain to me the syphilis storyline? I'm failing to connect the dots
House faked having syphilis to 'prove' that doesn't make you a nice person. Btw the patient didn't have syphilis, his condition caused the false positive.
Oooohhhhh. They cured the niceness 😬
I can't not see this guy as the outlaw in the shack in True Grit.

I have no enemies ahhhhhh
What I dont understand is why he is in the hospital to begin with. "There is no symptoms." Why is he there to begin with? You dont go to the hospital for niceness.
You can fall down the stairs wrong and House would diagnose you with diabetes
... six months later they divorced.
“I thought either way was good for you” 💀
Don’t know why everyone $&@(‘s on House. House puts in 200% effort while everyone else stands around at turtle speed/56% energy and hating on House. I’d be scowling all day if I had no colleagues on my level either.
He wouldn't Will Smith House's best Chris Rock.
It‘s funny that he says run all these tests and the patient gets no say in the health costs. Is that normal in the US? I usually get informed how much it costs first.
Yea, it’s normal if you have insurance. The hospital talks directly with insurance, not the patient, about costs.
If you don’t have insurance, you get free charity care. Again, cost doesn’t matter. So they don’t bore you with it.
Not the point of the show, this being a crime drama masquerading as a medical drama
Who thinks their vote counts? That was flat out awesome.
Isn’t it kunter who actually solved the case?
Kutner came up with the diagnosis. House correctly concluded that the illness was causing the Great White North Syndrome.
what’s this episode
Taxes cured me of niceness.
Wait, I am SO confused. Is it House who doesn't have Syphilis, or the patient who doesn't have Syphilis??? I mean, obviously the patient, but why do they keep referring to House as not having it?
