Yes, I was assuming Best Buy sold me a bad SSD Drive or there was something to the SATA iii or I needed a drive software to operate. Well, I will give this a try! I just got here and am still thinking that I need to download some drive software, that's why I'm in the comment section before I start.
@@mikeexits Always look at whether or not it appears in the BIOS first. If, as you say, it doesn't even appear there, then it's most likely that either the cables aren't plugged in where they belong, or even that the drive is damaged unfortunately. I'm no expert here but it could also be that the drive simply isn't compatible with your MB(which I find hard to believe) I hope you fix your problem soon. Lucky it's only a drive.

if your HDD or SSD isnt showing up on the partitions part of this video, make sure the sata data cable is plugged into the correct slot on the mobo, many mobos will need you to plug it in in a certain order. you can find the order in the manual, or written on the mobo next to the sata data ports
Thanks, man! It was driving me crazy not having my system detect my new ssd. I looked up my MOBO and found on my MSI b450 gaming plus max, sata 5-6 aren't available if you use the m.2 slot. Powered down and swapped to a different sata port and the ssd was immediately recognized.
Incredibly simple and to the point, I really appreciate the help, I've recently built my very first pc (all around new to them) and decided to buy both SSD and HDD for storage but just noticed that when I try to choose a specific storage device to save specific games to that I only saw the 1tb SSD and not the 2tb HDD. @Omer Akcan An SSD doesn’t improve in game performance, SSD’s are known for increasing things like load times and download speeds as well as boot times etc , I suppose an SSD could improve in game performance of things like textures are being loaded from the SSD but it won’t be noticeable really

it dosent work for me, when i go to the disk manegment is dosent appear a black bar over i. when i installed the new ssd i used my old cabels from my hdd and put the new cables to my hdd that i had in for a while, does that effect anything pls someone help me
@sph0rk do you see the new drive? If you do not it could be a cabling issue. I know that on my new MSI Motherboard I had to use the next consecutive sata connection I could not skip 1 or two for convenience

I know! That's the issue I'm having. Every tutorial says the same thing. Go to Disk Management, right click on unallocated disk and then click on new simple volume... but what do you do if it's not even showing up as a unallocated disk in the Disk management to begin with?

I installed my second SSD into the second m.2 slot on my motherboard and it isnt showing in the places you have showed. In the BIOS however it says that slot is deactivated. Any help? (Edit: The second M.2 port was M.2 PCIe only so my M.2 SATA ssd wasn't read, and I had to buy a M.2 NVMe ssd for that slot
Hey, I dont know if you solved this, but just a heads up: if you install m.2 drives, sometimes various SATA ports cant be used. (For my motherboard, if I have a m.2 in the first slot, the sata2 port is disabled. If I use m.2 slot 2, the 6th sata port is disabled). Not sure if that is a problem, but it is something to be aware of
I've had an SSD ever since I built my PC years ago and I couldn't understand why it never showed up. I used my old terabyte hard drive instead and didn't think to actually "install" the SSD to my computer. Long story short years later and I now have a working SSD! Ty and take this like and sub!

This may be a stupid question, but how can I do this if the "Unallocated Space" tab isn't there for me to right click on? What do I do then?
scroll down, if you have more than 2 disks you wont see the others until you scroll down, either that or your hardware is not working properly
None of my Drives are unallocated so none of them have the black bars on them only the blue ?
Probably not installed correctly or something is faulty
You have to initialize the drive 1st. Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
