Guide is nice but unfortunately none worked for me. When i try "Situation 2 - Method 2 Check Bad Sectors" it doesnt do anything. For other working drives surface test window opens but no reaction or error for broken drive and previous fixes didnt do anything than pop error every time. Disk part show that drive 5 which is broken one is online but nothing works. I've tryed couple of things in that app of yours and it replyed with errors 6 and 45 and i got nothing. One thing i didnt try is switching to another cable but since i dont have any other cables to try im boned on that one for now. Im gonna try accessing that drive from windows install program and i might try rebooting into that screen where you set up for windows safe mode (good old times when it was accessed by F8 right after bios) tomorrow but something tells me that wont work either, i guess that 2TB external drive is gone for now.

Thanks so much for your tutorial, but unfortunately it didn't help. I was looking for a solution for my 2TB Seagate Portable HD which stopped working. It's beeping and it shows "not initialized" plus "unallocated" on Disk Management. Also, Disk Management doesn't show its capacity properly, like it was 134217728 GB. When checking it on AOMEI Partition Assistant, it shows 0KB and 0 partition. The program shows an error message when trying to recover this disk. Nothing happens when I click on "surface test".

@@AruanaACN I tried taking the portable shell off the HDD itself where the sata and power outlets are now exposed but I think I may have messed it up more. It won't even be detected on any level now and instead gives a beeping sound. Be very careful in taking the HDD out if you choose to do it. It was more difficult than I thought it would be. I haven't yet :( The only solution I think is to send it in for an expensive repair. I'm considering Luis Rossman because they seem the most honest.

Rebuild the MBR will not 100% fix the problem but 100% will not cause data loss. If this way doesn't work then you will have to initialize it directly and that will cause data loss.

Hi, My External 4TB Hard drive shows ''unknown'' and ''not initialised'' . It doesn't show anything on the volume. It doesn't show on ''This PC'' . It indicates '''Data error(cyclic redundancy check'' when i try to initialise.

Hello, when I rebuild the MBR, all is ok, but there is one thing i don't understand, I have a 4To external Western Digital Red Hard drive but on windows i can see that there is more than 4 with 3 partitions of 1.96To ?!? when you rebuild the MBR how can you see the external hard drive, i need to attribute a letter or... what's the next step ? thank you
Do you mean how can you tell which drive is your external one? You can tell by their drive letters.
@@AOMEITech nope i just mean when i build the MBR what's next step because i can't see with my C:/ drive and when i want to add a letter to it and mount it, the option is grey but the MBR was built successfully

You can try to rebuild MBR first it will not cause data loss.
I have 250gb Seagate hard drive I had swap pcb and also swap bios but it shows as 0 disk unknown not initialise. On right click it give option to initialise with MBR and GUID. What will happen of I chose MBR will it initialise and I can see data? Without loosing data? Pls assist.
If you click "Initialize" it will cause your data loss, you are suggested to try "Rebuild MBR" first.
Didn`t fix the issue with my WD Element. I can not initialise it by an hardware error. It is a new disk, never used but was laying for a long time in a cupboard.
Shut down your PC and use a fine tool, such as a needle, to clean the ports on the hard drive and both ends of the connecting cable. After leaving the PC powered off for a few minutes, turn it on without the drive connected. Once Windows has fully loaded, reconnect the drive, and it should appear normally. If it’s an internal SSD, leave it disconnected, power on the PC, then shut it down again. Reconnect the SSD and turn the PC back on to check if it is recognized.

Hi, I want to ask is it possible i got this error because my enclosure i have here can't manage the storage capacity greater than 2tb? I have existing 3.5 HDD enclosure for my 500gb hard drive but as soon I plug my 4tb hard drive in my enclosure I got this error “Disk 1 Unknown Not Initialized” without showing disk capacity... I'm planning to buy another enclosure for my existing 4tb hard drive that can handle storage capacity greater than 2tb and use it for as external hard drive for personal storage but I was hesistate a bit because i might encounter another error like this again, enclosure for this type of drive is pretty expensive here so I want to make sure if that is also a cause ... thank you.
Not very sure, I need more details plz. Which kind of enclosure are you using? And is your 4TB HDD a brand new disk(haven't been initialized before)? Is this HDD in MBR partition style?

Mine is plugged in shows up in my bios and then doesn’t show up in disk management at all. No videos online help with this problem when it gets this bad

Can you initialize it directly in Disk Management, right-click on the partition and select initialize.

What did you click plz? The first method is "Rebuild MBR" and this method won't cause any data loss.

I converted my internal HHD to external HHD using the converter case. Its not accessible but its showing as Unallocated in Disk Management.

Tried Aomoi and other two hacks of this video but still can't allocate my external hard disk . In diskmanagement it's showing unknown not initialized unallocated hard disk . Nothing is working for me
You may check if it's due to bad sectors on the disk, you can use the Partition Assistant to check your disk.
