Thank you so much I just got a 1tb m.2 SSD a few days ago and installed and formatted but wanted to move my games over because my c drive only had about 43 gb left so yeah thanks man this really helped you deserve a sub!!
Amazing. My new 2tb ssd just came in, never installed one before but seems suppper simple! And moving my steam game to new ssd cause I was surviving on a 500gb.ran out of space got tired of uninstall ING and reinstalling games.
I think we need an updated video on this. The UI has changed and I don't see some of these options under game properties. I have created the new storage folder but I do not have the option to "Move install folder" under my game properties...
@@aryansinghchauhan9731 I managed to figure it out and I don't remember exactly how but I appreciate the reply for those that may also experience this issue 🙏🙏 Thank you.
Thanks so much bro I was struggling to figure this out, steam has changed alot since this vid bit I was able to figure it out, thanks again man I subbed.
Does anyone know if the mods you have installed into a games main trajectory that is on your old drive will also transfer over with the game as well? Or will I have to manually reinstall into the trajectory agin ones the game has transferred over to the new drive?
Great video, but the recent updates have made this even simpler. However, I feel as if I missed a step. If possible, upload a video for 2023 to show the new process.
Thank you for making this video, and for making it easy to understand. I'm getting a new hard drive, because my current one is on it's last legs. And I wasn't sure if I would have to reinstall my library all over again. Can I do this with my GOG and Ubisoft titles as well? Or is Steam the only one that has this ability?
old fart here, TY for the very clear instructions!! In my case I want to move my entire steam library from the hdd to a new nvme I just bought. Looking at the last comment it seems im a bit late jumping in here lol. Have a great day folks
I got steam installed on an SSD but the game (ARK Survival Evolved) on an HDD cuz of size issues so my question is: will it run slower (in terms of both loading time and fps?) cuz it is there or does steam actually boot and run it from the main drive my system is on (which is my SSD) Might seem a bit weird and dumb of a question but I just really have no idea on how this all works If it's better off moved to my SSD then do you think using a size compression tool/software is a great idea? and if so, should I do the compressing before or after moving it?
If you do this will your games keep the same update version? Essentially what I'm trying to do is since I have a data limit I'm going to take an external hard drive to a friend's house, connect it to their pc, download games, take it home and transfer the games from the hard drive to my PC's ssd. Just dummy wanna do any that, get home, then find out that I'll have to update the games. It would defeat the purpose for me.
Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure I was able to just drag and drop the entire steam library onto the new drive.. maybe that's not actually how I did it, but I surely don't recall doing them one at a time, that would take forever!
Been having trouble running rust and this was my problem 100% fixed it and it’s running way faster was taking minutes to load the game up and nearly and hour to load into a server now the it take 3 minutes all together I was going to upgrade my pc but now I don’t have 2

Ok, so i'm an idiot noooob and this is not what I did. I put in a secondary nvme drive and opened up both the original and the nvme's in separate task finder windows and started moving the Steam, Epic Games, basically any games folders from the 'Program Files' and 'Program Files (x86)'. Now things are a bit screwy and I can't remmeber which things came from which folder to put them back. Any advice greatly appreciated 🤦🏻♂️
This is a badly worded comment. Basically I did it wrong. Is there any way to revert what I've done or to tell which files should be in the 'Program Files' and which should be in the 'Program Files (x86)'?

There shouldn't be an issue, but I highly recommend cloning your OS onto your SSD. It will make your entire PC so much faster.

no idea if this would work, but if you have hotspot on your mobile device, it should work on your pc, but it will be slow
go to program files and click the exe of game
Don’t have the “move install folder “
Does moving the games to an SSD make your games run faster, or does this need to be done a different way to achieve this goal?
It only speed up the loading process, thats all
