In November of that year, I was in the isolation ward, terribly sick, with a white blood cell count of about 200. I listened to this over and over that day, this was just a moment that would be over at some point. That February I was done, cancer free ever since, if not healthy. It also helped me get through an horrific divorce 2 years ago. Thanks, guys. 💚🍀🙌🏼🙏🏻

It's incredible the way that Bono express his pain for his friend Michael through this hopeful and tender song. He seems to say: stand up and go on, cause every time you fall I'll be there to help you!
I remember everything... how this song saved my life. I was in mental hospital, really tough times for me and my family. I was ruined, my life too. I was at the bottom. I remember those pills, always pills. I was so alone and young. I will never thank enough U2 for this gift. This song was a gift to me. This song is a part of my life. U2 is a part of my life. Apparently written for Michael Hutchence from INXS - it was evident that like many of us he did get stuck in a moment and he couldn't get out of it - I loved the INXS and Michael Hutchence.
U2 are one of those bands that people say they hate just because it’s the thing to say, not that they’ve ever listened to them. Easily one of the best bands of the last 40 years.
MrFluidity1 You’re right. I’m 18 and whenever I mention U2 to any of my friends they just say “the shit band who gave me their terrible album for free”
The ego thing got wearing. I have phases forgetting them, then go back & play my favourites; from Surrender, Refugee, Pride, Luminous Times, Walk to the Water, Elvis & America, MLK, thru' to this track; I realise how they've enhanced my life.. till they do something poncey again 😂
I heard Bono say once in an interview - we're still just trying to write the perfect song.. - stand down man, you got there with this one. "I'm just trying to find, a decent melody, a song that I can sing, In my own company"
I've been stuck in a moment for the last 20 years. I remember when this song came out. It definitely resonates differently now that I'm in my 40s. Time to let go of old hurts and trauma. Not because the people who have caused them have changed but it's time to move on and let go this year.

The song is about Michael Hutchence, a friend of Bono’s who killed himself. The message in this video it’s pretty heavy! I didn’t get it back then when I was 9 years old but I get it now. Someone who’s falling and the people who care about him just can’t get to him, and when they do, it’s too late. Not their best album, but definitely my favorite! Long live U2! ps.: sorry for my crappy english 🇧🇷
Yeah - but there are elements of that song that he definitely wrote before Michael Hutchence's passing (google him Gen Z'ers - INXS - total legend). Unremarkable observation, but the lyrics make more sense when you realize that. He was always getting stuck in moments he couldn't get out of. That was his thing.
This song is such a powerful reminder of how we all get caught in life’s tough moments, but it’s not where the story ends. It’s a timeless anthem for anyone needing to hear that tough times are just moments, and they do pass. Truly a masterpiece of hope and humanity.
I can’t count the number of times I’ve listened to this song along this lifelong battle with mental illness. It was with my on many lonely bus rides home, many, many moments. Usually on repeat. Extra special to me because I struggled with Michael Hutchence’s death for quite some time. I knew the story behind the song even before it was released. This helped me cope with that and so many more stuck moments. It popped into my head tonight, feeling deeply stuck once again. It may have been written with a particular person in mind but I believe he put it out into the world to bring hope to the rest of us. Reading the comments here brings me so much joy. I’m glad you’re still here ❤️🩹
A very special song for me. This song help me in one of the most difficult moments of my life. This video is remastered, finally. Thanks U2. Michael hutchence would be proud.
✌️❤️ I fall back on this song when I'm falling down and it helps to props me up.. video is especially touching because the part where the people are walking over him feel so much like my life. Can't tell you what it means to me to find this comment in here to know that I'm not alone in the feeling
If anyone out there is going through the worse time in their life...play this and take in the lyrics..especially the last verse. It gets me through the crap times, everytime.
Nobody would be able to understand how much this song has helped me and encouraged me when this song came out. It spoked to me at a time when I felt that I didn’t have any way out. This song’s a gift.
I'm 45 right now. And u2 has blessed me for this song. 🙏 I love it and thank you so much U2. Whoever is listening to u2 right now, man, you're so cool. Hope everyone has a safe, happy, and healthy life.
I absolutely love this song... Both his & her's! I just found this song about three months ago, don't know how I never heard it on the radio, and then found out it's like ten years old!!! SMH lol. I would love him to post more music, I love his voice, his style. Fantastic!! Bravo!!
This song has gotten me through so many "stuck" times. I would pay on repeat for whenever I needed. U2 songs have been so healing for me, thank you, U2

I needed to listen to this today. I am definitely stuck right now. If anyone sees this comment please know that you are amazing, even when people try to make you feel like you are not welcome in this world.
I hope you are unstuck, Nicole. l have had a very tough year. A serious illness that destroyed a relationship I valued deeply. I have recovered physically, but not emotionally. I am desperately trying to get unstuck. Best wishes to you.
Damn. I lost my mom to suicide in 2002. She played this song on repeat while she drove around with me in the passenger seat.. I am glad she had something to listen to while she worried about me. I used to think that she was playing the song for me, because I was kind of paranoid.. I was also in my moment. Looking back, I understand better now.. I never thought I would, but she always told me.. Chris.. you won't understand until you're an adult or a parent. I'm still neither, but I get it.. Thanks for the new video? Thanks for giving her song
Sorry to hear your story, my mom also had this album basically on repeat around 2001 ish. I remember even being very young at the time, her life was practically falling apart and I'm surprised she held on. For the past twenty years she's struggled with severe mental health and its only recently that she's been sorting herself out. She was diagnosed with cancer this year, luckily it was stage one and she is finishing up chemo that she almost didn't even need. I feel blessed. I have a feeling my story could've been much similar to yours though, this album was constantly on back then and she was in obvious self destruct mode, so much so that I'm not even sure if she should've had custody of me. Anyways prayers to you and your mom's spirit, I am sure she is with you when you listen to this.
Listened to this today when it came to mind The last two years have been brutal, so much grief. This week is two years since I watched my son pass in front of me. .so much trauma...two years of depression, the shoulda, woulda, coulda guilt. Stuck in a moment for sure. Thru therapy including IV ketamine, and EMDR, I feel like I've finally gotten unstuck.. Acceptance is the key. I pray for all those suffering a loss. I promise. It will get better. No, you'll never be the same. But, life does go on
Beautiful. Got me through a hell of a lot of garbage in my life..especially the last 3 years where I've lost my beautiful sister in law, my beautiful cat Che, my beautiful mum and now my wonderful mother in law . It's been hell...
This song is powerful. I was sitting in a parking lot listening to this song on full blast.A passerby came and asked me "are you ok?" - looked concerned. I assured him I was ok and just listening to song.
This is the song that stuck with me during the lowest point in my life 7 yrs ago. It kept me grounded and I survived. I am forever grateful to U2. I choke up everytime I hear this song. Thank you.
Me…….. 73 years now… was so lucky living in the other century to be able to listen all those unbelievable music and bands, including U2 ! Those were the days ,the years visiting concerts and still listening to these incredible songs…..by saying that in this century also good music is produced …
I am here for in Memory of Michael Hutchence for whom Bono written this Touching Song after that Kevin Godley's Mesmerizing Video. Michael You will be always Alive in our ❤️
Since I was a child I always liked this song but when I saw that the true background was the bond feeling for the loss of his great friend Michael Hutchence, one of my platonic loves, I cried a lot. Life is sometimes very unfair.
@@janebraun4482 Thanks for the recommendation, the absence of michael hutchence is felt too much, he was the soul and voice of INXS oasis, he could never bury him

The song and the video are masterpieces. Great lyrics. It´s about an interaction between a man who is depressed that refuses to get help and his friend speking sense to him and trying to help him.

If you were ever in a toxic relationship, as I was when this album came out, this song means everything. It truly spoke to me and helped me to see it was time to move on. For that, it'll always be towards the top of my favorites by one of my favorite bands ever.
I love to see how they have curated each and every picture frame, the sound is enhanced, and all the feelings in my heart are the same I felt 20 years ago when I heard this masterpiece for the very first time.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things that I can not change, The courage to change the things that I can, And the wisdom to know the difference. 💙
Another brilliant heartfelt lyrics, beautiful music and stunning performance of U2.... I have always loved them and in times like this they seem more Important than ever. Animal attraction, sensual and exceptional artist will always be Bono, since the first moment I saw him.
This song meant so much to me while recovering from depression. I don’t know where i’d be without it. Especially the last lines of the song affected me. ”And if, and if the night runs over And if, the day won't last And if your way should falter Along this stony paths It's just a moment This time will pass” I’m still alive and today i’ve recovered and will soon be back at work again. I survived depression, i didn’t commit suicide. It was close a few times. If you feel depressed, sad or whatever; Please remember that it’s just a moment and not an whole life. It will get better, i promise you that. You’ll find happiness again. Whoever you might be, i want you to know that your life matters and YOU MATTER! Have a little faith. I survived, and you will too.
Mattez: thank you for your generous, selfless words. You may have just done for me (and my wife and three children, who have no idea how low I've been) what this song did you you. After a lifetime mired in intermittent depression, at 61 I've just become beaten to resignation by it and today...for the first time...I actually began seriously researching a 'method'. Something in your words has restored my hope that I am just 'Stuck in a moment'.
I hated this band when I was a teenager my dad played them too much but here I am 34 years old I understand why he likes them now, love this song and this album now.
Saw U2 in 97 during the Pop Mart tour and Michael had passed the night prior so it was an emotional show. But the beautiful part was as the lights went up and we were all walking out, the venue speakers started playing Never Tear Us Apart. Miss you Michael Hutchence.
I'm going through depression at this moment and I need a boost. I thank the comment section for everything you do

I hope you are unstuck, Nicole. l have had a very tough year. A serious illness that destroyed a relationship I valued deeply. I have recovered physically, but not emotionally. I am desperately trying to get unstuck. Best wishes to you.
I cannot believe it’s 23 years later. I still have the CD from 2000.still works and these songs still give me hope.
😔❤
More power to you ❤ ❤ ❤
💔
🥺 I wish you nothing but the best in life. I am so sorry for your loss.
I love this band so much it's insane. Got "U2" tattooed on my left arm. Forever.
Listened to this today when it came to mind
The last two years have been brutal, so much grief.
But, life does go on
How many people still loves U2???
I love U2. It's my favourite band of all time.

This is the song that stuck with me during the lowest point in my life 7 yrs ago. It kept me grounded and I survived. I am forever grateful to U2. I choke up everytime I hear this song. Thank you.
Me…….. 73 years now…
was so lucky living in the other century to be able to listen all those unbelievable music and bands, including U2 ! Those were the days ,the years visiting concerts and still listening to these incredible songs…..by saying that in this century also good music is produced …
This song is a good companion in difficult moments. I want to thank U2 for being so good at music.
If you listen to the song Bono finished of Michaels, I think called 'Slide Away', finished beautifully by Bono, you will want to cry.
@@janebraun4482 Thanks for the recommendation, the absence of michael hutchence is felt too much, he was the soul and voice of INXS oasis, he could never bury him
18 months ago I played this song I've been drink and drug free since .changed my life and are getting step closer to seeing my kids for first time in 4 years
Cheers 🍻 to that
This could come out today and still be just as relevant.
It would be overshadowed by Cardi B. and Co.
This beautiful, powerful and meaningful song has brought hope and encouragement to countless people. It's impact and relevance has not faded at all.
Their music has so many songs to get us through the best and the worst of times. Thank you, gentlemen. #U2Forever 💚 🇮🇪 🍀
The song and the video are masterpieces. Great lyrics. It´s about an interaction between a man who is depressed that refuses to get help and his friend speking sense to him and trying to help him.
Here in 2024 and i’m still enjoying this song.

If you were ever in a toxic relationship, as I was when this album came out, this song means everything. It truly spoke to me and helped me to see it was time to move on. For that, it'll always be towards the top of my favorites by one of my favorite bands ever.
Crazy that this is already 20 yrs old... Man I'm getting old myself...
I vaguely remember this song, and it's made no difference in my life what so ever...
When lyrics makes sense and saves lives. Thank you Bono.
the lyrics in this song are heavy and it hits really hard.

Thank you God for U2 and this very beautiful song.🤍
Another brilliant heartfelt lyrics, beautiful music and stunning performance of U2.... I have always loved them and in times like this they seem more Important than ever. Animal attraction, sensual and exceptional artist will always be Bono, since the first moment I saw him.
This song meant so much to me while recovering from depression. I don’t know where i’d be without it. Especially the last lines of the song affected me.
”And if, and if the night runs over
And if, the day won't last
And if your way should falter
Along this stony paths
It's just a moment
This time will pass”
I’m still alive and today i’ve recovered and will soon be back at work again.
🖤🖤🖤
I am also facing a depression and anxiety… panic… 😭😭🥲😔 don’t know sometimes Anymore…

Yes. This Music was wrotten to him
Saw U2 in 97 during the Pop Mart tour and Michael had passed the night prior so it was an emotional show. But the beautiful part was as the lights went up and we were all walking out, the venue speakers started playing Never Tear Us Apart. Miss you Michael Hutchence.
U2 are full of wisdom and their lyrics reflect this fact❤
