The older I’ve gotten, the more I realize how delusional people’s opinions are when it comes to the best band in the world. All kidding aside, I’ve been a mega fan of these guys since the first time I ever heard Bad on the radio in 1984. So I am approaching this from the perspective of someone who loves these guys. But to say they are undeniably the best player in the world is absurd.
I have been following them since their first album came out when I was in high school. And to this day they are one of my all time favourite bands. My wife and I have seen them in concert a couple of times and what a treat that was. But when we visited New York, we were lucky enough to get into the studio audience for that day's taping of Letterman, and were thrilled to see that these two greats were on the guest list to be on the show....but when they surprisingly decided to do this song while sitting there, brought tears to our eyes and still does. This was one of the best musical experiences we ever have had.
I love how Paul subtly comes in with that soulful B3 sound about 2/3rds of the way through and it is hardly noticeable yet adds so much at the same time.
