    At the start you said you liked the clamp b/c of the beading around the edges - ironically I heard the word "beating." Yup...that's why we restore! Very nice job. I'll bet Chuck is happy, now that the clamp is done, that he did not get his way on the sanding of the jaws.

    Great idea with the socket to hold the ferrule and use the adapter and drill to polish it! My father had a few of these and bigger ones clamped to the rafters in his home workshop

    I love it. They still look like antique clamps, with all the character that tells of years of craftsmen getting the job done, but in a cleaned up way.

      I like the over-the-top high polish for some projects but this clamp felt like it needed something more subtle.

    Very nicely done. I never knew how those things came apart. Now you've done it Magdad, now I'm going to start restoring wood clamps! Oh if you see the cutters I'm holding in my picture. Those are H.K.Porter type R pole cutters from 1940's. They were restored by my new friend Vic from Big Vics Workshop. He gave them to me after I saw his video and said what a good job he did. I also showed him a picture of the plant they were forged and made at as well as my other H.K.Porter tools and my dad who was a machinist there! When I got them I felt like a kid at Christmas! I love watching you and all the other restorers bring back old tools.

      @@357magdad Vic definitely is. As a matter of fact I think my dad was watching over him restoring those cutters. He then whispered to him wrap the cutters tightly in a whole role of shrink wrap to make it extremely hard for my son to unwrap! It was like my dad had wrapped it!

    Really beautiful job....the “Hernia” size of Flitz really caught my eye! I can see why Chuck had a big smile on his beak! Might just have to invest in one of those jars!

    Great restore on that clamp. I love those wooden clamps. I've done similar to wooden finish. You did a great job. That's a great tub of Flitz, I bet Chuck was happy! At least he felt comfortable leaving you unsupervised to eat lunch.

    I picked up a new clamp last week as a prototype for a set of clamps that I will customize to make them more my own. I like the beading on the edge and will add it to mine. I'll use either brass or copper pipe as a replacement for the ferrules on the handles.
    I'm glad to see Chuck finally got to open the new container of Flitz.

    When I saw that there was wood, steel AND BRASS I knew it was goin to be a good video😁! I thought the mineral spirits worked well, and liked how you left the character of the jaws intact. Plus I’m definitely goin to remember that technique on how to open and close those jaws!👍

    We do not see that style of clamp in the UK except the all metal engineers parallel clamps. Lovely restoration with the tool looking like a freshly spruced up senior citizen😁.

    Great restoration without overdoing it. I find your restoration tips very useful. I notice the steel pins allow the jaws to pivot in order to clamp irregular shapes. I haven't noticed this before. Seems like the old wooden clamps I've seen are parallel only. Thanks. Enjoy your videos.

      Thanks Pat! I think the clamps with the wooden screws don't usually have the barrel nuts, so they can't swivel.

    I love the beading. It's cool that you can still see the staining from the barrel nuts on the sides of the clamps. Awesome work. I'll definitely be using the mineral spirits and steel wool for my future projects. I also need to buy a can of Watco Danish Oil. That's amazing stuff. I know my brother(who's an incredible carpenter) loves Danish Oil as well. 😊

    Nicely done Magdad! That Kwikwood is pretty amazing stuff. I’ve used it on several projects. The steel version works great too.
    The waxed paper trick and the taped socket for the ferrule trick are pure genius!

      I'm not sure how old. It looks like it had a long life. I think the jaws might be maple?
