Its good to see someone excited to visit the city I was born and raised in, so colour of the taxi determines where it can take you, urban taxis are the red ones, New Territories taxis are green and Lantau taxis are blue. You won't see a lot of old cars in Hong Kong as well. TST is the main tourist area.

Many explorations that you can find in this tiny place. But in the past few years, so many ppl emigrated from Hk. Red Taxi can take riders from everywhere in HK. Green taxi operates in New Territories area, and blue taxi operates in Lantau Island area. Both green and blue taxis can take riders to the city but are prohibited from taking riders from the city back to their operating areas. U don’t have to worry about your personal safety in HK or China, it’s really safe. Not like here in the US, I am afraid to walk alone in the street at night

Welcome to HK! I actually live 10 minutes away from TST so I guess can call myself a local of TST haha. This might disappoint you but it's becoming harder and harder to get street food from HK unfortunately as the government has been forcing street food vendors to move into a proper shop for hygienic reasons. Hau Fook Street and Haiphong Street Temporary Market are probably the only survivors in the TST area.
It's also interesting that you pointed out that you saw a lot of "foreigners" when you were in front of Chungking Mansion! Chungking Mansion is known to be THE most multicultural place in the whole of Hong Kong as it houses a large number of South Asians and Africans. You also find other non-ethnic-Chinese communities here and there in Hong Kong (Koreans in TST, Nepalese in Jordan, Pakistani in Kwai Chung etc.) and a considerable amount of them was born and raised in Hong Kong so I wouldn't call them foreigners myself tbh.
They also speak better English in TST than the rest of HK due to its proximity to the CBD (aka Central) and its location as the PRIME shopping area in HK (Canton Road for all the luxury brands!) but using English shouldn't be a big problem in HK as English-medium schools are still prominent in HK.
Hope you've enjoyed your time in HK!

As jaded Hongkongers who haven't had a good 3 years during lockdown (it's JUST a city, insanely small & populated) plus a year-long protest in 2019, it's nice to see foreigners come & gush over our city.
& yeah, I agree, our urban skyline is the BEST on this planet (the view from the Bulgari rooftop overlooking both the Bund & Pudong in Shanghai is the 2nd best).

Tsim Sha Tsui was my home neighborhood for six of eight years there, 88 to 96. Been back several times over the years, not nearly enough. One of my favorite places in the world. Btw Tsim Sha Tsui, think of the Ts as a J as in Jim Sha Joy

Few years ago I stayed in a hotel size of a shoe box in Tsim Sha Tsui, right where you walked in this video, the street going down from the park entrance. It was 60 bucks a night. I lived in China, and my flight was from HK, so wanted to stay somewhere central for a day. I think 8pm, or 8:30 there is a light show on the skyline where you started the video. Cheers

Chris if you want to get interesting content you can get a ferry to one of the islands extremely cheap then you are in the rural area, you can rent a bicycle ride around visit old fishing areas etc totally different vibe to the big city!

as a hong konger i can say hong kong is very specal to other people because we don't often sees a "concrete forest" as to other countries according to my knowledge about other countries, also a diversificate and well-equipped place although it's kinda busy, loud and crowd

Im a regular visitor to HK, my visits can last as long as a month, its my favourite place to visit and has been for over a decade. The food is amazing, there is great shopping to be done, and so much to see. I've even stayed a few times in the infamous Chungking Mansions, btw it isn't as bad as ppl make it out to be. I'll be back there early next year. I even write a blog where I share everything I do & see and give tips.

Hong Kong is good because apart from the beautful scenery of mountains ,harbour or ocean view( depend on where you are),easy and cheap public transpotation, no sales tax at all when shopping for anything, beautiful shopping malls, great variety of food and delcious,(can be cheap too if doing research before going there ), stunning view of harbour especially at night, all those nature trails to walk on islands and mountains, plus the nice weather ( no snow during winter), autumn is the best, just cool, not hot or cold, ocean park and disleyland is nice but have admission fee,the view from the peak is absolutely gorgeous particularly at night, star ferry ride is resfreshing and incredibly cheap, hong kong park and kowloon park are both nice and are free of charge, all the streets and roads do have both offical english and chinese name so it is easy to find your way

A cheeky tip/recommendation: in shum sho po there's a youth hostel called Mei ho house and its built in a refurbished old style Hong Kong housing from pre 1980s. Don't worry tho its still spacious and even has a history museum (free entry but not open on Monday) personally I've had prices at 500HKD for a week and had 2 rooms (separate from each other) there's even a bathroom in the room, tv, ac and its only a stones throw from the markets and shops. It is located on a small hill so you don't hear anything traffic at night. Enjoy HK ppl! 😁
