🌟Kicking off 2024 with a fresh video! I'm super excited to share the love I have for my city with you, and I really hope you love Shenzhen just as much as I do :)
Great video!, finally someone sharing some updated stuff to see and explore in SZ! could you please share the names and adresses to the places and restos? im going there too in a few weeks and would really like to visit that bajju bar for example. thanks from Sweden!
Shenzhen claims the fifth-largest metro system in China based on system length, and consequently, it holds the fifth-largest metro system globally by the same criterion.
I remember going to Shenzhen before it even had a subway system. Metro can be buses ferries etc so it had a ‘metro’ aka the bus but not subway trains yet 😂
I went to Shenzhen in 1984. I cannot grasp the dramatic change in 40 years. It's truly amazing! In '84 it was open sewer housing with concrete everything but everyone had a TV.
Thank you for sharing an overview of Shenzhen. I plan to travel there in the Fall after visiting Singapore, Malaysa, Thailand, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shanghai. Due to the travel and Visa restrictions since Covid I've been unable to travel China since 2019.
The city of the future where more people from all over the world will one day call home.A truely MEGATROPOLIS of the future only thing missing is flyings cars and craft. Great content Adrian we hope more to come this year 2024 and the future from your content👍. Also can you share prices of your travel on your mega rail network and the food as well. Thanks👍
The subway fare is quite affordable since it's designed primarily for convenient city commuting, so typically ranging from 0.5 to 4 USD. As for food, prices can vary, but on average, a meal at a decent restaurant falls within the range of 5 to 15 USD.
thanks Adrian for sharing this! just curious how does one stop or finish using the rented bike? can we park the bike anywhere that is a safe spot? or it has to be a designated area? I am guessing if we wanted to stop being charged on the bike, we have that option too? thanks, thought i'd ask because different countries process of renting one is different. im only familiar with the mounted designated area.
I was thinking about going to Shenzhen, but honestly I didn't find anything special in the video, maybe except the bookstore? Anyway thank you for saving me the money
I lived there for two years. An honest opinion: Shenzhen's cool but the nightlife and culture is a bit dead. You've got coco park, but thats really it. Alot of the people who live in the city come from all over China, so it lacks a bit of its own identity like Shanghai and Hong kong. As a result, many foreigners left during Covid (im not sure if many came back). Foods awesome though and you have so many choices, travelling around is also affordable. I was able to order a different meal from a different restaurant and have it delivered for very cheap and very quick (beware though, some of the food isn't the highest quality, others is great quality). Around 10 bucks can get you a decent meal. It is modern in some parts (mostly Futian) and other parts isn't as much and its still developing. I'd recommend Shenzhen if you're interest in technology and manufacturing, there's a big mall with electronics where you can find interesting things. Overall i'd rate it a 6/10 city to live as a foreigner. Unique indeed! But definetly needs something else to make it more special.
Having lived there for a year, it was one of my favorite cities in China. I enjoyed the eclectic mix of people, culture, food, etc not to mention relatively clean, great value, and modern.
30-40 years ago, HK was the most futuristic city in the geophysical context of China. After 1997, it remained so until Sz started bulldozing the fishing & agricultural identity to become the mega metropolis m with slick steel, glass, that it is today. That’s wonderful. HK has its beautiful harbor view and some ramnants of Victorian architecture, which added to its identity. 35 yrs from now, SZ’s super city will have gone dated. What will distinguish itself from other “modern” cities?
Thank you Adrian 🙏...I really enjoyed your presentation over this beautiful city. Friend of mine was for the work (candy factory MENTOS) in Shenzhen (2009). At first I should go with him...but because of the budget cuts I had to stay at home....😪 Nevertheless, he has come back with a great stories and nice memories....🤗
Great video - from a European perspective it seems that not so many people are using public transport in Shenzhen - busses and subways are pretty empty. How to people commute?
American, EU visiting govt officials all use disposable phones visiting China which should not be sync’d with computers at home… one of the reasons why there are so few westerners in China. Yes, u hv to do so many QR Codes, everywhere u go.
What makes it modern? Glass, steel, and stadium-sized train stations? I think before SZ hits "modernity," it should first pipe in potable water for all residents. (And I hope officials don't bulldoze 向西村. That's one of my food spots in town.)
I'm too whitewashed to go visit any other country besides America. I'll be like "WOW look at this!" "WOW OMG IS THIS FOR REAL?!?" "I'm lost" "Can I get home?" "What's with these fancy scribbles?"
....... Future here on earth???....... 2 Peter 3:3-9-13....... KJV Bible....... It's NOT gonna happened!....... The earth was toasted then!....... Burned into ashes!.......

yea indeed!
New lines, shops and developments have completed, even against the backdrop of COVID-19.

life hack, never check in your bag at subway stations. just point to your bag to the security people. they'd always won't bother and let you in 😂
