Have a 2016 TRaihawk 45.000 miles no problems at all just traded it for a new 2019 TRailhawk and love the car. The people that hate it and call it a Fiat all have one thing in common they haven't driven one and don't own one. They will tell you a friend had one and didn't like it ,really. They are designed by U.S. engineers and built by Fiat. If you really want to know the truth go talk to someone that really owns one you see them every place. Don't listen to TH-cam trolls they are full of crap.

2017 Deserthawk owner here. The Renegade is the most underrated car out there. I take it through logging roads every week - works like a champ. When it finally dies, I'll be first in line for another one.

What I really hate is the greedy and deceptive car STEALERSHIPS using your trade ins of the 2015-2018 Renegade Trailhawks as BAIT AND SWITCH cars, to lure unsuspecting people to their stealership and then tell them the reasonably priced USED one "just sold" while they try to force you into one of the overpriced new ones. And meanwhile, when you look online a few days later, the used one at a good price is STILL ADVERTISED. Disgusting slime bags.

@@reesedaniel5835 I bought a new Deserthawk, the first new car in my life, precisely because the used ones were NOT cheap. In 2017, used cars were ridiculously overpriced, so I certainly didn't have any "cheap used car" bait and switches - they never had cheap used cars.

The Subaru Forrester was on my short list back in 2017. Went with the Jeep, even though the Forrester was cheaper (in the models I was looking at). If I remember, the Forrester had more capacity and better mileage, but the Jeep was far more competent off road.

Daimler hasn't owned FCA ever Chrysler they divorced back in 2007 ! I own a 2018 4x4 Latitude 2.4l 40,000 miles so far and it has been absolutely flawless, the transmission works remarkably well the shifts are smooth it does have a slight delay when coming out of reverse to drive but besides that I haven't experienced any issues with jerkiness like some people have mentioned I've had to change my driving style but that is just fine because I don't drive with my foot through the floorboard, I average about 27mpg combined. Another issue that hasn't plagued mine either is the supposedly oil consumption issue I change the oil every 5000 miles and lowest it has ever been is 1/4 quart after 5000 miles driven. Good luck with your Subie !!!!

@@805rips4 I have the 2.4L in mine so I don't know how it will do on grade with the turbo but I have had no issues driving up any steep roads in ours. What you will notice is that the transmission will not want to downshift quickly to keep a cruise control speed unless you press on the acceleration. The 9 speed is a little strange in that it always wants to stay in its highest gear possible for the best mpg.

Whats really unacceptable is the tiny 1.3 "turbo" engine, with less horsepower and not enough power so you can (allegedly) get 1 more mpg "fuel efficiency".....what a joke. The old school V6 engines got better gas mileage, were more reliable AND had lots more power. Also they took away the option of a stick shift. And the air conditioners are not as cold with each successive year model because the stupid control freak government beaurocracy (EPA) keeps changing the freon to a less effective brand. The govt screws up every single thing it sticks its long hook nose into.
